I tried a search.

What are you 7 Weatherby guys shooting for loads?

Thanks in advance

keith, any particular bullet weight?
Most of mine are with 160 up to 180. Retumbo,7848,rl25, 22. some 4831.
Wby brass or RP? RP is much heavier...watch the top end loads. I`ve a 700, P.N. 9 twist, standard wby freebore, 26 inch.

Weatherby cases, Fed 215’s, Nosler 175 gr.Partition and enough IMR-7828 to get around 3025-3050 fps.

I intend to do some more work with Retumbo and also IMR Enduron powders when it cools off just a bit.

Keith, my 7mm WBY is a re- barreled 700 with a Dan Lilja 26" fluted SS barrel. It is a fantastic shooter and my favorite hunting loads are with 160 and 175gr Nosler Partitions loaded long (3.400") due to the standard cut Weatherby free bore.
Favorite powders are MRP, RL-25, H1000 and Retumbo, but get excellent results with IMR 7828 as well. I know, some of those aren't known as being very temp stable, but my rifle either doesn't know that or just doesn't care. 160's at 3220 or 175's at 3110 both work equally out to 600-700 yes and ethically, that's where I stop when hunting. It is capable of more distance of course if I am shooting steel or such and I use bullets designed for that then. I have a fair amount of experience with the 160 Accubond in this and other fast cartridges on game, and I must say that I am not impressed overall. Great bullet till you hit big bone......then it flat sucks.Just my experience, enjoy the 7mm WBY!

I’ve been loading for my two 7mm Weatherby rifles for several years. The load I settled on first was with MagPro with 150 gr TTSX and Fed GM215M primers. The load I am currently using is 72.0 gr of Norma MRP for avg velocity of 3,228 fps. That load is accurate in both my rifles and has performed superbly on elk. I have shot some 160 AB in one of them and didn’t see the accuracy I expected

When I got the MRP/ TTSX load tuned in I saw no reason to venture further. The MagPro shot fine also and killed elk just as dead. MRP gave me about 40 fps more MV and a bit smaller groups but was not a quantum leap in MV or accuracy. I only use Weatherby cases and have never had issues with them. Happy Trails
I have had a Rebarreled for maybe 20 years ... Have killed a truck load of game with it... Mine is similar to Cave Trouts... I get 3250 with a 160 Sierra HPBT or Partition. I use 72.5 g. Of 7828.. Dandy rifle... I also shoot coyotes with 120 gr. Horn. HP over 73 gr. Of Re 19... That load killed deer and antelope right quick.. I use WW 7mm Rem formed for the Wea. Case...

Didn't say what game you wanted to load for. In my long throated 7RM the 120 Barnes X was a great deer/hog/antelope load. For Elk and Africa a 160 or 175 usually Barnes or Nosler was good. Some of the newer powders are worth a look like R26, 7977, 8133 and not new but US869 for the 175 gr.+ bullets.

Thanks to all! Rifle will be intended for Kansas deer. The rifle is a tweeked Mark 5, and I am using Norma and Weatherby brass.

I don’t have a 7 but do shoot a 270 and 257 and have loaded for a 7 I rebarreled for a buddy. My experience with all of them has been good when I basically just filled them up with 7828 and corked it with my bullet of choice.

RL-26 works great in the 7RM with 160’s. Would be one to try in the 7 Wby.

I have the Remington Magnum which has about the same case capacity as the Weatherby but lacks the freebore so it suffers lower velocity. I have thought about getting the throat reamed out. Anyway, 7 mags are great for longer range, well what I consider long range, out to about 400-500 yards. To me the Weatherby is the ultimate 7mm. It's a hell of a lot easier on barrels than the STW or ULTRAMAG, and also easier on my shoulder and ears.

The 7mm Weatherby seems to shoot well right at the upper pressure limit with a full house load. Not saying to start at a max load, however. Not trying to be Captain Obvious here, but watch your case capacity with different brands of brass. I have even found some weight/vol variation in newer and vintage Weather brass. Hornady and Remington brass have very different case capacities than the Weatherby stuff. Happy Trails

7 Wby Mk V, 24” barrel

I run:
120 TTSX @ 3650
140 Accubond @ 3400
140 Accubond @ 3050
150 Sirocco @ 3250
160 North Fork @ 3200

Most, if not all of those loads were worked up with RL 22, which I have stopped using. Soon they will all be switched to a more reliably temp-stable powder.

Very true.

I shot 140 Ballistic tips in the one I had. I killed my first pig with it years ago.

RL28,
I switched my .300 Wby to Reloder 26 which tightened up groups a bit but lost about 38 inconsequential FPS. I may do the same for the 7mm when I diminish my supply of MRP.

I plan to try RL 26 among other powders. I have 6 rifles to develop loads for. Gonna be a busy fall.
