Just got back last night from a trip for antelope. 5 of our family put in for bucks in one unit and does in another, but only cheesy and my Grandson pulled tags. No bucks, just doe tags. This was Ike's first trip out of state, at 12 years old it was the first year he was eligible for a tag. Ended up going late so the Grandson and Granddaughter could finish their sports seasons, and then the Granddaughter had other commitments including her volleyball team going to state so she stayed home. We couldn't get to the area we wanted to hunt for the snow drifts so hunted lower in the valley. We split up with my Son in Law taking Ike one way, cheesy and I another. Turned out that they both got their first doe a few minutes and a couple miles apart. That boy was a grinnin!
Kimber Montana, 308, 120 Accubond loaded down to 2400-2500 fps. Punched both shoulders from 125 yards and kept on going.

Cheesy filled his second tag middle of the afternoon, but Ike decided to wait till the next day to spread the fun out some. The wind came up and made things difficult, but he tagged out middle of the afternoon.
We pulled camp and hightailed it the next morning after hearing weather forecasts of 6-12" of snow and cold weather.

Doesn't really look like antelope camp.

Great stuff!

Hunting antelope with the kids is as fun as it gets.

A few more random pics from the trip-

My Kimber .30-06 got it done, in spite of my poor shooting. Pack loaded with a half a goat for short walk back to truck. Used the old JC Higgins 50/51 for my other doe. No real glory pics of it though.

And my favorite picture as we were leaving yesterday. Wishing I’d had my good camera and lens. Couldn’t get phone out in time to get them when they were all skylined.

270 might of made the trip if I'd been lucky enough to draw a tag. These days the 257 Roberts gets more time afield though.

Very well done gentlemen!

How many years have you been going out? Seems like you’re pretty consistent!

Congrats; Wyoming pronghorn is the BEST IMO...

Trying to remember, I think this was number 4 since 2007. The consistency part might be because we're not all that picky when we are able to draw buck tags. Two years ago when we took my Granddaughter on her first antelope hunt we went late season then too. Never saw a big buck and all took average sized bucks.
Antelope is my favorite by far.

Well, Montana pronghorn aren’t bad! 😊 Lot of fun sneaking around those buttes and draws, in whatever state they are located.

Thanks everyone, we don't get out there every year but have fun when we do.

congrats to everyone on the hunt!

Does eat just fine - that's all we put in for. We filled 4 of 5 tags this year. Next up is elk season, trying to get Daughter #1 her first.
