Anybody have experience with this combo? I have seen recommendations for the 200 ttsx/225tsx but haven't seen much about the 180. This morning I shot a few different factory rounds a buddy had laying around. It would be hard to top how the 180 ttsx and 225 tbbc shot.

Personally, I think the 180 is too light in a .35 caliber.....even with a mono. If the 225’s shoot good, that would be my choice. JMO. memtb
I shot a couple of deer with a 180 TTSX in .35 Whelen and it killed quite well, but that doesn't really say much. probably could have had the same results with 100 other cartridges and bullets.... I didn't catch one?

I never loaded the 180TTSX in the last 35 WAI I owned, was satisfied with the 200X or 200 TTSX. I "did" shoot the 180TTSX out of a 358 Norma Magnum factory ammo from Doubletap. $5 a pop if you count shipping! I zeroed the rifle and then shot a group of around 3/4 inch. It was rated as going 3100fps. I had to sell that rifle too...dang Obammacare taxes! smile

I’ve shot them in a 358. They grouped great, only shot a pig so far, DRT.

I run them in 350 remington mag.TAC was giving me right around 3100 fps. I forget the load offhand it was low to mid 60 grain range, will have to check. Anyways hell on whitetails. Case capacity is very similar so I would expect similar results from the Whelan.

Don't think deer would no any difference. I'm not sure of your quarry but I haven't found a reason to buy anything expensive in the Whelen. I.E. 200 or 250 gr corelokts etc. I know they're not sexy but have plain worked for me.

My Ruger 35 Whelen shoots them great.

I shot some in a 358 today using 51 grains of TAC and they shot an inch @ 100 from a Savage 99. 42 grains of RL7 gave me the same results.
I’ve killed a pile of deer with my t/c encore using the factory Barnes’s 180ttsx vortx.

My go to for woods hunting.

I have been shooting the factory Remington bullets in 200 gr both flat point and pointed soft point. From 358 Winchesters and 350 Rem Mags. All were so effective this box of 180 gr TTSXs sit unloaded so far. Some day I'll get busy and do something. I have 4064 and Varget for them. Might have to go with something faster that is on my shelf. Maybe that pound of VV 540 should be used. Anybody have a tested load for it? Sorry if it is OT, but barely. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

I am planning on trying TAC with 180 grain bullets. Supposedly the cats meow with 200's. Not sure if I can get enough powder in there for good speed, bit should be a speedy one. (Not sure which gun you are talking about here, 350 Rem or 358 Win. I am talking Winchester)

I shoot these out of my CVA Apex and love them. They are very accurate!!! Deer or hogs just fall over like a truck hit them when I do my part. only downfall is finding them on the shelf locally and the price.

I've only used 225 tx but had great results.

All I have ever used was Speer 250's in the Whelen.

3 times, not a big amount, but all three have died on the spot

No runners.

I used Nosler accubonds in my Remington 700 classic in .35 Whelen. Worked great.

I worked up some loads with the 200 TTSX but need to keep working on that to get it right. I tried loading 225 Accubonds in my .35 Whelen with mixed results. I wasn’t getting the velocity I was hoping for so I switched from the spendy AB to 225 Partitions, which I had plenty of. I found a good load with CFE223 using Speer data. I have quite a few boxes of Federal 225 TBBC factory loads which shoot nice tight cloverleaf groups, so I may just sight in the new scope with those and call it good.

I’d like to see a Tipped version of that Bear Claw. Although that 225 TTBC is probably a hammer the way it sits!

Glad to see good info here. I am looking at rebarreling a Garand to 35 or 400 Whelen. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

If you have a .35 caliber, you should use as much of it as you can.
