Any chance he caught them trapping? I don’t see any blood

I know a few guys who have bumped into packs, and laid into them killing 3-4. Color me jealous......

Was that guy bear baiting this late? What's with the buckets on the wheeler? Maybe Hunterdude4623 is right and the guy was trapping.

What calibers do guys use for dedicated wolf hunting? I am thinking a 243 to 2506 would be Uber.
Posted By: lazydrifter Re: Some good wolves.... - 12/04/19
I'm thinking a 5.56 in an AR-15 with a 30 round magazine would be ideal.

The box and 3 buckets in the back lead me to think the exact same thing too.

My coworkers and buddies filled up at the same place/time and spoke to him. Trapper. Claimed that this bunch pushed him up to 19 so far this season.

Not to my mind or experience... Have used a Mag10 for example when calling and the cycling time is so long they locate the issue and haul azz too quickly. A single shot from a bolt gun confuses them big time and the echos have them going every which way. When the are scrambling the sound of a bolt gun does not bother them much.

They are big!

I'm envious. I'd love to have a good hide on the wall. I've been buying a wolf tag every year in so. Idaho. We've seen tracks every year but I've only seen wolves once, and that's when we were driving down a dirt road. No time to get out and shoot. I've been less than hour behind them twice, judging by their tracks in the snow and when it quit snowing an hour ago.

the wolf trapper with the 3 wolves on the 4-wheeler is my new hero. living here in Northern Minnesota wolves are a big problem and there is no legal wolf season now because of these dang Liberals including the new Liberal Rat Minnesota Governor Walsh.

Wow, at 19 wolves trapped, that guy is doing more than several thousand guys packing rifles.

I heard of a guy here on the Kenai that rounded a rock corner and surprised a sleeping pack of 5. He got them all. Good thing, cuz he was out of ammo... smile

A couple years ago when I was in Kotzebue, coworker got a text pic from his cuz in Pt. Hope, who had come on the fresh tracks of a pack of 6.

No place to hide up there on the treeless tundra from a 100 mph snowmachine and AR15 smile

Cool. I don't see how that could possibly happen, though, as target bullets don't kill very well. laugh

That is awesome . Wish we could legally hunt them here in OREGON. Going cougar calling , tomorrow morning. There are wolves in the area. Might have to use the 3 S's. Shoot, Shovel, and Shut Up.

Not if SSS is involved. You don’t want your brass everywhere or your boot prints all over. 😉

from the Idaho wolf regs,,,

Certified Wolf Trappers: The statewide trapper harvest
limit is 5 wolves per trapping season. An additional 5 wolves
(for a total of 10) may be taken by trappers in the Panhandle,
Clearwater, Upper Snake, and Salmon Regions,

So this means a trapper can get 20, a hunter/non trapper 10. Good work although not sure what ya do with 19 wolves.

You're correct!
I have my threads confused and was thinking Alaska.

Nineteen wolf hides isn't a bad problem to have.
