Anyone have experience with the 110 gr Nosler Accubond at 270 WCF velocities on antelope/deer size game?

Emailed Nosler and they advised had same performance characteristics/limits as other Accubonds.

What say ye?

Of course it will work reasonably well if placed correctly in the vitals.

That said, if I were to go light, I'd prefer the 110gr. 270 Cal TTSX BT. This bullet will penetrate more and work better under higher velocity (without causing as much damage).

I think it was targeted at the 6.8 SPC, seems like it's probably a bit light for the WCF.

This if I wanted to go that light.

Did this for Grand daughter for 3 or 4 years in a row for her first few KY WT hunts here on the farm. Works....

I have positive range and field experience with 110 grain Nosler Accubond .257 bullets loaded in Federal Vital Shock ammunition in .25-06 Remington with published muzzle velocity of 3100 fps on a feral hog at around 100 yards range. I was so favorably impressed I've purchased some Underwood factory .25-06 Remington ammunition loaded with the .257 110 grain Nosler Accubond with a published muzzle velocity of 3250 fps, but I haven't had an opportunity to hunt with that ammo yet.

The .257 110 grain Accubond has a higher sectional density (0.238) than a .277 110 grain Nosler Accubond (0.205) of course, but its not an extreme difference.

I hardly recommend the Barnes 110gr TTSX. At full high velocity at very close range like 50 yds it will absolutely stay together like no C&C bullet will do, not even the bonded style. . Totally capable of taking the biggest deer around with ease. . I know the 110gr AB will work for deer but the mono's are far more reliable with just about zero blood shot meat loss. Also consider the higher .SD & BC of the mono's. The 270 110 TTSX has shown it's capability not only for deer but elk also.

Your experience mirrors mine. I load 110g AB to 3163fps in my .257 Roberts. It is a hammer on antelope. No problems with excessive meat damage. I also load 100g TTSX to 3175fps. They work well too, but the AB has a higher B>C. and retains velocity and energy better. Not that it makes much difference to an antelope.

My rifle loved the 110g TTSX, hated the 110g accubond in 270 Winchester.

Performance in the field of the 110g ttsx is fantastic to say the least

.270 Winchester and 110 Hornady AB works fine and comes zipping out p.d. fast. I've loaded it with H4895. My rifle shoots it to a 3 inch higher point of impact at 100 yds. compared to a 130 loaded with H4831.

Hornady AB?? Is that like a Chevy F150?

I used the 110 accubond in 270 for south al hunts really impressed bang flop

I've shot a few pigs with the 110 Accubond, and in one instance, the bullet didn't penetrate. It was a 275 pound boar, standing broadside at about 60 yards. I shot it square in the shoulder and the bullet made a thump, and the thing ran off. It is only the 2nd pig I have ever lost with the 6.8.

Now I have a 10 year old grand daughter that is recoil averse. She killed a good 8 point whitetail this past season with my .223, but with a perfect double lung shot it ran off over 100 yards and didn't leave a drop of blood on the ground. I told her we aren't going to take the .223 deer hunting again. If I would not have seen the deer stagger when shot and then make a right turn we may not have located him. I have a short stocked Ruger 77 in .270 that I previously loaded 110 NAB in with fast loads as noted above. How do you folks think about 40 grains of H4895 would do for a low recoil load? Don't want her to shoot a rifle she is scared of and she does insist on practice shooting the rifle she is going to use so I cannot get by with telling her it won't kick and we sure don't wish to start a flinch issue. Any recommendations appreciated as to other powders but I already have 2 boxes of 110 NAB. In stock I have Varget, I4064, I and H 4350, N133, and H4831 (which probably won't work well), also some I4895.

H4895 is possibly the best powder for reduced loads...40 grains should be fine. The 110 NAB was designed for the 6.8 spc velocities, I currently shoot it at about 2750 fps in a 6.8 SPC and it works superbly.

I just finished working up some reduced loads for my 10 year old. I tried h4895 in a 243 with 85g partitions. I usually start with h4895 for reduced loads because that's what I've always used. It just ignites easily and usually burns consistently even at light low density loads.

The 243 700 youth in an mdt lss just didn't like the h4895 and 85g npt combo. I switched to 8208xbr and got about the same velocity with the same charge but it grouped much better. I loaded 35g 8208xbr and the 85s and it clocks about 2925 from the 20" barrel and shot about 3/4th moa.
