I bought mine at Cabela's a few years back and, although I've not had occasion to use 'em in Africa, I've used 'em on pronghorn and elk hunts. They are, indeed, perfect and money very well spent.
100% agree

I've used a fancy leather bound wooden tripod and the Bog Pod

Neither were as fast or as versatile as the Trigger Stick

I've used the bipod version for several seasons. I've not tried the tripod but just might.
A fellow brought a pair here to my range to learn how to shoot off sticks in preparation for an upcoming trip to Namibia. They didn't impress me as I found them to be somewhat shaky and a bit flimsy. A bit pricey, as well.

I much prefer the ones the African PH's make and use, either bipod or tripod.

I've used the "African" leather bound tripod

Your guy going to Namibia will never find a wooden tripod that can go from nearly flat at 12" tall to over 5 ft

Works standing....kneeling.....prone......sitting in a blind

Pan and tilt

Allow for very uneven terrain

Adjustable on the fly walking stick

Be used as a binocular rest

Also a camera and spotting scope tripod

Ive hunted a set of these hard.....3 statess and Africa [Linked Image]

Personally, I found the trigger sticks a bit on the heavy side and a little noisy when being opened or closed...

I currently have a bipod sticks that are made from a pair of Chub cam-lock bivvy/storm poles used by fishermen..

They are only two section and are a bit tall in the sitting position, but its a compromise I am willing to accept.

For anybody 5'10" or shorter, you would not even need to compromise and the two section would be perfect for both sitting and standing..
