I hate to be part of this subject. This morning at 415 we lost one of our puppies. She was a mixed breed mutt but was one of the most loving puppies I've ever had. Her name was Hooch. Her and her sister Blue Girl learned.to climb early. Yesterday morning early I found an empty package of Top Cat rat poison beside my chair on the patio. We feed the.dogs and Hooch didnt come out of the back yard to eat. At 18" tall she could hop over our fence anytime she wanted and did regularly. I figured she was roaming. She finally showed up about about 1130 am and wouldnt eat or drink. She disappeared again and we couldn't find her. About 4 am we found her suffering. Before I could get a rifle out and loaded she had past. Lots of crying from wife and.gragkids today. Even though we only had her 6 months she will be missed. Good bye Hooch , Love you baby girl.

Sorry to hear. Condolences.

Sorry your family had to say goodbye to Hooch so early. My wife and I had to say goodbye to our little girl, Daisy on Saturday. Old age got her. We had 14+ great years with her. Whether you have them a short time or many years, they wiggle their way into your heart for sure. Something very special and unique about the connection we share with our pups that sure leaves an empty spot when they go ahead to the Rainbow Bridge to wait for us.

I have always thought of myself as a little of a tough guy , but today my eyes have been moist. Hooch really was a sweet girl!

Last week my dad took one of his dogs to the vet. The male wasnโ€™t acting right.

Lung cancer. Vet says heโ€™s in no pain. But itโ€™s a matter of time.

Dog was a rescue. Lived a lot better life than he started out with.

Poison's a tough way to go. Too bad you couldn't have gotten her to the vet as soon as you noticed. We had a dog that appeared to have gotten into some under a porch, left there by previous tenants. Vets were able to save her and she lived to be 14 or so.

Condolences to you and the family.

I hate f'n rat poisons. There are many other alternatives.

My condolences.

Our female GSP got into rat poison in our shed, but we got her to the vet in time for vitamin K. After that, rat poison only in the attic.

I feel your pain. 3 years ago my wife gave me a Cocker Spaniel puppy for Christmas. Named him Otto. I can't imagine life without him. He's become my best friend.

So sorry to hear, the loss of any pet is a great loss for all in the family. As in another poem you can't replace her, but you can give her place to another needy pet. Stray's abound, especially this time of year with all the fireworks. I had an acquisition just recently with a lost miniature Pug, just a puppy a little girl just a months old. She was lost, being chased by kids and dogs alike and scared. A young neighbor girl brought her to me. I've had her about two weeks now, no chip, no collar, and no tags. Posted her on the neighborhood watch computer program and nothing. I've never seen such a pet attach their self and so needing of attention as this pup. She's at my side 24/7

Thanks for all the kind words. We put my reloading table on the patio and have some chairs in front of it. This morning when I came out Hooches sister Blue girl was standing on her hind legs up on the table getting visqueen down to chew on. The rat poison was up there and thought it was safe. I couldn't figure out how Hooch got it. I guess that's how. We didnt know she was sick until it was too late. We had 3 puppies and all day the other two have layed around with our old lab. They seemed lost without Hooch. My granddaughter gave Hooch a stuffed pink pig that Hooch would carry around like granddaughter does her baby dolls. She wouldn't let the other dogs play with it and she slept on top of it every night. I told the wife no more poison except what is going straight into attic. Thanks again for the kind words.
