I forgot how many years ago I learned about that EMP stuff. It could disrupt things for weeks or months and that's one of the reasons I never had a shortage of toilet paper or anything else. Just keep a few months worth of non perishable stuff like toilet paper in secure, dry totes and rotate your usage. Everything runs on computers these days and an EMP will screw things up big time and cause disruptions.

I am still very capable of existing without power, cell phones, computer, etc.

Our big problem would be water. We need power to run the well pump. I need to get a generator that will put out 240v to run it. It doesn't use much amperage but none of the smaller gens will do 240v.

If they could fry our grid, a hit in the winter would be far worse as we wouldn't have power or gas for heating.

I've done it before for months on end but that doesn't mean I want to do it again. I'm getting too old for that shyt.

I think President Xi is thoroughly pissed off at President Trump. China enjoyed favored nation trading status with the US for several decades. China prospered and became a world economic power at the expense of the US and the rest of the first world nations. Now Trump comes along and wants to level the playing field. How dare him!

I expect President Xi to cool his heels until the election hoping sleepy Joe or another Democrat gets elected. The China flu was a test to see where the US is vulnerable. If Trump gets re-elected China will make an all out effort to undermine him and destroy the US economically. I can't imagine being in Trump's position and fighting all these battles on so many different fronts. Talk about multi-tasking.

I still support Trump and think he is the right person for the job at hand. Very few people could do what he is doing.

And what about all our nuclear submarines? Do you think they are just going to sit at the bottom of the ocean and do nothing?

Rock Chuck, For the well, we have solar panels, a small battery bank and an inverter. Unless your well is quite deep, a 110/120 volt pump can supply water to your storage tanks/drums. If you’re on a deep well and/or try to use a pressure tank for your home....the 110/120 volt pump, may need fill the need. I mention 110, as an inverter for 220/240 volt is pretty spendy! Buy a little 110/120 volt pump and store it for hard times!

We heat our entire (2 levels), 2800 sq. feet home, with a 30,000 BTU “free-standing” propane heater. It accomplishes the same thing as our 100,000 BTU forced air heater.....while using no electricity! If we move to the basement ( the third level) it will require even less heating.....our 1000 gallon propane tank can last for several winters, if we are very conservative! memtb
