Recent pick from in-law grand father estate. Older, well used vise

Got it home and gave it a thorough scrub with gasoline and degreaser , wire brush treatment. Broke it down, greased it up. Missing knob, oh well.

Raining good last couple days, got a wild hair to put this together for the ATV shed. Nothing fancy.

Whole project, only thing I to buy was the plywood.

Turkey-shît green but that’s what I had on hand.

Everything else was just scrap left over.

Will get some wheels or casters from farm supply next time I head to the big city.

Plug weld you a 5/8 nut on the handle to keep it from falling out. Or put a big assed cheater on it and put a kink in the handle. smile

Incurred one casualty

Dropped my old backup saw onto the concrete shop floor. Guard cracked, I took a hammer and beat it the rest of the way off. Works great still 😃

The house lady was concerned I was getting too hot, I actually am part reptile. I operate well at 90f and 90 humidity.

She forgets I roofed for 15 years. Her trying to give that blah blah blah I worked in a tobacco field, business. lol

Anyway, she shows up with this China Freight fan. Ok whatever.

Great, something else for me to put together.

Drill press stand behind it.

So now I still havel that big azz old drill press in the truck. Built this deacons chair looking thing to mount it on. Anchored that to the steel truss pillars in this shed. So that top-heavy unit will hopefully sit well.

Found an old metal stand in one of the barns, previous use unk. Drilled thru the metal and bolted 2x12 to it and clad with 3/4 plywood. All scrap.

Two 20s something sons supposed to unload this drill press tonight and carry it into this menagerie of junk.

Nice work Slum. Looks good.

Fats- $10? that was a sore dick deal!

I have an old beast that works great but it's a non-swivel base. Been keeping an eye out for a solid old swivel unit. I don't know when but at some point folks decided old vises were really cool and good luck finding a deal now.

Jake bought a *8" Pony vice, and bolted it on the steel welding table I made in school shop about 1961. That table is part 3/8 plate, and half cast iron floor register from an old house. Hooks welded for end wrenches.

Says "Cole" on the jaw above the handle. Seriously weathered from coastal NorCal. Due for a refurbishing.

Nice job. I've always enjoyed building useful things out of mostly scrap stuff laying around. Justifies all my "junk that needs to go to the dump" per my wife.

Who knew FatCity had so many vices? I rescued my Rock Island vice out of an old sagging barn about to be bulldozed.

Slummie
You are going to regret putting that bottom shelf at that height.

Don't ask how I know after 20 years of having like it.
