It's no coincidence that Republican strong Florida and Texas, are being singled-out for mass testing in an effort to make the leadership seem inept.

They really want to turn FL and TX blue for the election.

They are testing thousands a day in my county in FLA. i think many of them waiting 3-hours in line for a test are people who found out a coworker or someone they where exposed to tested positive. So they were told they should get tested. Im not sure why so many are shocked at the number of cases. Seems logical to me that once we opened the economy back up it would spread like crazy. Schools open in about a month around here. Wait until that happens. I wont venture a guess on the numbers but they will be high.
Posted By: Mannlicher Re: Florida - 07/14/20

Lots of optics and hype. Florida leads the country in testing. Test more, find more. Most are asymptomatic and did not even know they had it.
There are few folks positive going to hospitals, Most of those are let our after a day or so. A tiny number of deaths. It’s all about the narrative.

The relevant number here is not total tests, but rather, the number of current daily tests being done.

The strong Dem states are probably (just a guess) drawing down on daily testing, while pushing daily testing in the red states with big electoral college votes, that the Dems are desperate to turn blue.

It's all a political game, and the Dems/left are setting the rules.

I don't have the numbers handy, and not being argumentative, but I'd bet that daily testing in FL has really ramped up recently.

The Dems are doing their best to make Republican leadership look inept.

They likely trying to counter the Dem leadership sh*t-show of the last few months, that has been on full display in major cities across the country.

Number of tests being conducted daily versus per capita.
Posted By: Stickfight Re: Florida - 07/14/20
Originally Posted by MontanaMarine

It has. Florida has has roughly 55k tests per day since late June. That is about the same as Texas, maybe a 5k or so higher. California has had around 100k tests per day in the same period and ramped up to 120kish in the last week or so.

Obviously more tests mean more total positives, but the rate of positives is useful too. California is steadily around 10% but Florida is 20%. So is Texas.

Arizona is nearly 30%.

It would be nice to know how many of the resolved cases have gotten reinfected. It wouldn’t change the hype around this but it might help the level headed make a strategy for managing it.

That there hasn’t been much mention of this on the news makes me think the post-infection immunity is pretty good. If people were being reinfected they’d have that on the front page of every web site in the country.

Posted By: MontanaMarine Re: Florida - 07/14/20
The way I see it, there's no controlling the spread. That Genie is waaay out of the bottle.

The bad news is, if you are in poor health, it might take you down.

The good news is, it's not nearly as lethal as the hype might suggest.

At this point, I just see it as information/misinformation/disinformation being used as a political dirty trick.

Apparently all of these “shattering “ headlines are being extrapolated forward by trends.

Just looking at the Johns Hopkins graphs it probably is true. 22MM people have the misfortune of living in Florida and their tests per day is about the same as Texas with 29MM.

Not sure which state has more ethnic Hispanics...probably Texas...they seem to be more vulnerable.

Rush just had some info on several testing sites in Florida turning in fraudulent positive cases. One place had 100% and another 98% positive. He did not say how many Tests were done only the clinics acknowledged the errors. Was supposed to be 9.4 percent but submitted 98 % positive. The numbers are being manipulated.
It’s impossible to have 100% positives. The monetary incentive from the feds needs to go away. The rona will follow shortly after that.

Is there supposed to be a significant difference I can see between Red and Blue states?

CA=17.8/100K
NE=14.9

OR=5.7
KS=9.9

Seems it just depends on which States I want to pick to hover over as to which has the highest/lowest rate per 100K

Barbarian',

I'm glad you pose this question. I'm not one for lengthy replies but in this instance I've no choice.

You can enter the bar but you have to wear a mask unless you are seated.

You can sit IN a bar but not AT the bar. You may drink exclusively, but only while seated at a table, and not the bar.

You're probably wondering 'Can I stand at the end of my table?' Sorry, but the answer is no. It's too dangerous. You may also be wondering what must be done after your 13th pint when your bladder has reached capacity. Mask up, buddy! Can't walk to the schitter without your mask!

Please keep in mind that you and your friends can drink without wearing a mask, however your server must wear a mask at all times.

When it is time to do depart, you must don and clear before making your way to the door. Once outside you may converse with the smokers without a mask, but only because you're outside. The Corona ceases to be deadly outside. Nobody knows why, it just does.

If you think this all sounds kinda silly, just remember that we're all in this together.

Dave

PS-This is for Broward. It's actually worse in Miami-Dade. LOL

I was in Santa Rosa Beach last week. No one there gave a crap. It was wide open far as I can tell. People there from all over the country,eating, drinking, at the beach all day, in the pool. Did some off shore fishing and based on the number of boats catching bait fish in the morning, that industry is as open as ever.
