Anniversary is coming up this weekend. Thinking about going to Fredricksburg for the weekend, but aren't sure what's open and what isn't up there with all the virus stuff. Anyone in that area have any ideas of how open it is there? Or any other suggestions an hour or two from San Antonio?
Find a bed-and-breakfast Victorian home.

Fredericksburg is a good weekend gettaway.

It was better before all of Austin & San Antonio descended on it every weekend though.

Take plenty of money. You'll need it.

Mine is on Saturday. Number 34. We are going to Lake Belton. Ride tubes behind boat, ski, wakeboard

Check out Blue Skies Retro Resort just north of Fredricksburg. They have a website.
Love Fredericksburg and visit often as folks and sister live less than an hour away. If wanting to stay in town- which can be fun - I have stayed here and loved it. Romantic and not facing the main drag but on the parallel street- yet hidden away from sight pretty well. Each room different and with unique furniture etc... You can walk to any place from here. I believe they have honeymoon type packages available.
The Lodge Above Town Creek

For dinner the best place on Main is Der Lindebaum which is super close and practically next to the Nimitz museum that you will walk past. I had a marvelously memorable evening at Der Lindebaum. Still makes me smile- had the whole place singing ...... Food is not just German, GREAT filet and other items - wonderful fresh made desserts. For a good bier stop by Cultures- right next to it as well and say hi to the owner- Mario. A great guy I always stop and chat with . I miss the art gallery and its owners that were next to it. Some few new stores popped up, some are nice replacements- luckily no Staples Starbucks or Office Depot. On same side of street as all those I mention some shops keep coolers iced down Lone Star beer you can help yourself to. You can walk around Main with a drink in your hand. If going cheap and meeting folks I might keep a cooler in the truck for such... Of course a bazillion wineries around there to visit and there is an Art on Main night once a month.

Happy anniversary - enjoy. Feel free to PM on anything I might help with.

B&Bs, all the expense of a hotel and the pain in the neck of staying at someone else’s house.

I follow them on instagram. They've got some really cool stuff. Ended up our baby sitting for this weekend fell through so we're going to end up just doing dinner and then going somewhere in late August. will definately check out the Rose Hill Winery, haven't been to Fredricksburg in probably 10 years but that's where we got engaged so leaning towards going there again.
Don't forget Cimarron Arms in Fredericksburg.
Motel 6 in McAllen is nice.
Any deer blind
Settlers Crossing is a neat place to stay in Fredericksburg. Lots of authentic cabins/homes that were disassembled in Ky/Indiana/etc, and reassembled there.
