I have an old Deutz 3006 tractor from probably the early 70s that needs a new rim. The old one is rotted really badly from the calcium in the tire and it's going to fair sooner than later. I'd like to find a replacement within a weekends drive of central NY, but I have no idea where to even begin looking. It's not like the 8n parts I can find on FB or CL every day.

Would anyone possibly have a lead on one or a possible place to search?

Fortunately....the rims were not usually model or make specific.

What kind of rim is it?

Jim the only thing I can find on them from Tractordata says they are 11-28 tires, but the rims on mine have a funky system for making the wheel base wider by loosening the bolts and rotating the rims in or out, if that makes sense. It's dark now but I could take a picture of it tomorrow. Thanks.

ETA - they are apparently called spin out rims, I guess that's what they call them.

Pic on tractordata.com shows a 2 piece rim. Says rears are 11-28.

Search on spin out rims and see if that's what you have. Allis and case used them quite a bit.

Is this your rim style?

Don't have a clue where you could get them local.

My 1971 Massy has that same type of rims.

The local tire shop here that does a lot of big rigs and tractor service calls said they could order some for me,don't know where they would get them from.

Around here in KY, believe it or not, the local Big O Tires sells and repairs tractor tires and rims. Don't know if they are even around your area. I have cut a hole in the rim on the opposite side of bad spot and welded in a 1/2" washer for a smooth hole for the valve stem and welded in new metal on the bad spot. Back when I had a lot more time than money. Kind of nasty fumes when welding that calcium soaked rotten metal though. Just a thought.

Nothing I can find says they would fit my tractor though.

Is there a tractor supply and service shop near you? Check with them how they handle this- I would be they have had to deal with it before.

A buddy had a tractor wheel rot out from the calcium filler and he was able to get a new rim, cut the center out of the existing wheel and had a buddy reweld it into the new rim ... back in business and only out about $120 IIRC.... they aren't usually manufacturer specific, you might find one at a John Deere, or Kubota, or Case, etc.... dealer...

Might want to give Hess's in Andover a ring, if they can't fix it for you they may be able to give you a lead on who can, about an hour west of Corning.

Your rim style was used by Massey Ferguson, Case and others. If you know your rim dimensions, start calling used tractor scrap yards. This is your best bet.

IIRC the 35 Massey we had when I was a youngster used them. Also it seems my uncle had about a 90HP Minneapolis Moline that had them also. Probably quite popular with the not so popular tractor brands? Would think anyone who deals in tractor tires would have some idea about where to get rims for them. Many of the old M's, 460/560 etc from the 60's and 70's after 50yrs of chloride leaks need new rims.

Standard fare on Allis Chalmers through the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

The holes are for a stop bolt so the rim actually stops adjustment at your predetermined point. Then you twist a cam lock to lock it into place.

Any tractor salvage outfit should have about a gazillion of them in stock. But I more often see then in 12-28 than in 11 inch. Often with a 13.6 x 28 tire mounted.

Is your old Duetz dealer still in business, selling anything?
That's where I would start if possible.
Or ask at any dealer.
If they don't have it, they would know who does.


Look for the oldest, grumpiest counterman you see.
And ask questions.
You don't know anything.

I used to drive to Sikeston MO whenever I'd need a part like that. I know someone in NY isn't going to do that, but I'm betting there should be some tractor salvage places in your part of the world.

If the rust is only on the valve stem hole, I have reamed out a 5/8 flat washer, and brazed the washer on the inside, of the rim. You need it start welding, and hammer the washer to shape as you go, then grind smooth.

Jake just bough a new front wheel for his 7120 from an after market company, I could ask him for the name.
