Nice to see a horse doing what it is supposed to do. Obey a human!!!!
Been on a horse twice in my life. They dont have a key .........
After the 2nd " ride ".......
I down loaded my 1980 yz250g and blasted the trails. Had enough of the I aint gotta do schitt dude ranch trail horse ride.
Some dude in my unit from wisconsin knew a family that had a dude ranch up in boulder that we went too for the weekend.
Those dude ranch horse,s were azzholes.... Wouldnt do schit other than stay on the trail Nose,s to azzholes in a line following dude ranch cowboy guy in the lead all of em knowing the rountine. Go for walk around the huge loop and back to the ranch.
Im sure a real working horse is much different rather than the carnival merry go round I went on.
2nd horse tried to bite my thigh like 4 or 5 times cause I was trying to make him go off the trail. Had enough of the giant plant eater doing that schit....
I yarded up the reins real tight low behind his head, gave him a good hard quick tug with my left hand and got his head pulling back into his neck . Fugging wayled him with a hard punch with my right in the base of his ear. Did one of those horse snicker nostril sounds. How do you like that Mr. Ed.......
Didnt try to bite me after that. But he wouldnt get off the trail still either.
Sam, hope they get a good handle on alla that fire stuff for you.
I just hope you guys don't turn into a NorCal situation.
We've got a Red Flag day to look forward to tomorrow, and a Fire Weather Warning for Monday and Tues due to possible T storms. Don't need any strikes around here. 91F for the high today with 21 MPH wind, and with the sun going down we're presently at 19% RH. Not good conditions unless one likes fires.
Fortunately for us, nothing presently burning nearby our place. Nearest is 60 or so miles away with the wind blowing away.
But we're getting all the smoke from the bigger fires to the SW of us. Visibility has been down to a mile or so at times.
You MT guys, looks like you might have a couple of incidents on the E side of the mountains up north?

Same deal here and all over the place Geno.
101F and gusts to 28mph this afternoon according to the weather history.
Very happy to not hear the fire whistle blow.
Good day to not even bother combining or messing around if a guy didn't have to.
Does anyone make or use nonferrous, e.g. non-sparking, ground contacting components for the equipment you guys rely on this time of year? I'm guessing presumably grain harvesting and haying?
Girl friend has one with almost the same mark on the fore head, he is a ass but she does the rescue thing. he is just real leary of people from what he went through. One day I hope to put a saddle on him he is a work in slow progress.
I had a cousin we called Uncle Bill as he was nearly the age of our folks. Big fella like you.
His daughter got a big ol' Shetland cross pony, bigger than standard for sure? Not sure been a long time. Didn't like riders so much when they got him. Uncle Bill said I'll break that horse quick and put his leg over and sat the dang thing, trying to get him off. Pony/horse gave up after a couple of minutes. Kids rode him pretty good after that. Fugger bucked my right off once though when I hit him in a tender place with the switch. Off the property and down the road he went. No saddle, we rode him without.
They got him back a couple miles away as I recall.
Last time I was on horse back was in 83 guided hunt in the Teton Wilderness Wyoming. First couple of days were treacherous for this city boy. After day 3 I started to relax and enjoy the riding.
I love this. Envious of you guys out in the country. I'm stuck in this chit hole called Anaheim, So Cal. have been most of my life. Looking forward to some cooler weather so I can chase Coyotes. I hunt eastern CA and Nevada. Looking forward to getting lost.
Yeah, but I bet there is good food to eat in Anaheim.
I reckon. Wife's been cooking a lot due that covid BS. But your right a lot of variety here. Always wondered what life would have been like had pop never moved us out here in 1960 and I had actually grew up in my home state of West Virginia. One things for certain I would have started hunting at a much younger age as opposed to starting in my late teens.
Ain't been to Dezzyland since the 1960's. And I live in the same City. I don't understand these people who travel half way around the world to go there. Or the locals who go in there every week. One advantage if you could call it that is we are not subject to the rolling power blackouts because Anaheim is on it's own grid I guess you could say. I think it prolly has something to do about the infrastructure put here years ago cause of Disney. When we make out our utility payment for water and power it's payable to 'City of Anaheim' As opposed to PG&E like most of So Cal
Barry, it is a registered quarter horse but certainly a little lanky looking. My buddies were asking if it had any Arabian blood.
Unless the paperwork is bogus(for a different horse) it should be 100% quarter horse.
I really like the horse. We were busting through the pines within about 5 minutes of starting out and he was fine. Wasn't to sure about the soft coulee crossings but got better as we went along.
Little bit of a hot blood which isn't a bad thing out in those hills.
Heeler, don't feel too bad. Did sleep in a little though, blame it on a long, hot week, certainly couldn't have been the tequila.....
Pumps are pumping and I'm taking the rest of the day off. (knock on wood...)
Smarquez, the pic is from my trusty old(wore out) Canon G15. Lens is all scratched up and half the time the zoom doesn't work but I still prefer it to a new smartphone for pics.
Earlier this summer I bought a Samsung S20 and it takes good pics but I'm having issues with two different photo hosting sites. I'm too inept to figure it out and haven't really tried either.
Las, oh you betycha those Nort Dakoatdans are a simple lot for sure!
