Have a rifle returning after getting a new barrel and bolt bushed. It hasn’t moved since august 15th. I understand that the USPS has issues but this is nerve racking. I am insured but has anyone else experienced this recently?

California to Maryland for context.

Yep, and had some packages move all round me before finally arriving. It is getting nutty.

Yes, the exact same thing actually. Just hang tight and you’ll be fine

Call your local postmaster and he can locate it for you. I ordered an expensive weed whacker online and it was stuck in one location for so long I figured somebody had stolen it. I called my local postmaster who quickly located it and called me right back. He said it was in a crate at an airport but they weren't going to put the crate on a plane until it was completely full. I finally got it a week it or so later. Those USPS estimated delivery dates are meaningless.

I had a package from AL to MS take over a week.

It sat in Jxn MS distro hub for 5 days.

Tracking just kept saying it was delayed, but will be delivered.

I sold a couple things on eBay today then after getting paid, I used eBay shipping and when I clicked on the "purchase shipping" on eBay like I have hundreds of times and was advised by eBay NOT to use the USPS for shipping now as the USPS was having serious shipping delays. WTF is going on.........

Yep, things happening with mail delivery that I'd never seen before. Ordered an item from a shop in Texas, it made it all the way to my town, then back to Texas. It eventually arrived at my door after 3 weeks.

The USPS has some fantastic people working, but also.trash too.

I lost thousands on lost packages that were needed in a timely manner, but were "misplaced" between point A and B. I heard from one that I had tracking labeled Live Animals, Handle with Care over a MONTH.
It had to stink awefully baaad. Was told by the postmaster of the place that it was way on the back of a shelf.
It's like "tuff luk succka."

It was probably stollen by an employee and then traced to him so he found it.
They can go out of business and deserve it.

I had a package of merchandise from Michigan
that was traveling with all blinding speed until
it arrived at the local zip code. It got "lost "
here and they had no explanation of what happened
or where it was. I had to get the postal inspector
to open an investigation. Turns out they
photograph the labels and such of every parcel
that arrives at the PO . Mine made it here, but
they supposedly had no idea where it was.
No record of delivery, nobody admitted to
seeing or handling it. They more or less shrugged
it off and I got a big ida know. They sure didn't
hold anybody accountable for " losing " a package
that they're paid to be responsible for. And an
investigator that's paid to find out what happened
didn't do their job. They still drew their pay and
will receive a check when they retire.

I've most likely related this instance before, but
I like for as many people to know of it as possible

Ha keep blaming that, how do you explain that they haven’t made those payments since 2012 and still lost 9 Billion. So taxpayers should be liable for 150 Billion in payments.

https://reason.org/commentary/usps-...er-post-employment-unfunded-liabilities/

The USPS didn’t have this prefunded system for health benefits until 2006. After realizing that the USPS was on the hook for an estimated $50 to $59 billion in future health premium payments, Congress decided to make a change. Ironically, the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006 required the USPS to change from pay-as-you-go into prefunded health benefits, just like its pensions. This was meant to put USPS retiree health benefits on track to full funding.

Unfortunately, the USPS retiree health care reform coincided with significant declines in revenues. From 2007 through the 2019 fiscal year, the USPS lost $77 billion and hasn’t contributed to its retiree health care fund since 2012. “USPS has missed $48.2 billion in required payments for postal retiree health and pension benefits through fiscal year 2018,” the Government Accountability Office reported in March.

USPS needs to go the way of the DoDo bird. EXTINCT.

So my rifle was delivered this Monday but no one was home to sign. I’ll be able to pick it up at my local post office. Guys I would avoid the USPS if possible.
