Now there is a man outstanding in his field.

Good luck!
There are doctors and lawyers driving all over my place right now.

Wonder if some sort of season is on right now?
Thats me gathering straw on the feild to put under my feet.
Place is a swamp hole from heavy rain.
But we are on the corner spot. And have been seeing alot of birds.
Got about 15 mins to go.

Lots of people on the field in other spots.

Got 2 good solid hunter types about 55 yds away.
We been talking all morning shooting the schitt.
Looks like you're gonna need some rain gear. Do doves fly in a monsoon?
You ain't got time to hunt, you got tires to rotate boy!
Getting close

Time to thank our sponsors

for about 50 years, today would have found me at a stock tank on the desert, wating for the dove to come zooming in after feeding.
some years it was slow, some years even with a .410 it was over in about ten minutes.
not for me this year and it hurts. i have hunted that tank for about 60years.
but back surgery last month, my wife isn't gonna let me out. plus i know i should't, but it still hurts.
I have been pouting all morning.

10 minutes
15 shells
15 birds
410

Sounds boring
What I wouldn't give to be in a dove field shooting as if I were a WW2 gunner trying to take down the whole Japanese air force.
LOW BIRD!!!
Baiting with onion rings? That's a new one.
Slow

Probably well over a 100 people out here

Cloudy and got some storms off to the west.

A few shots on fhe edges about 200 yrds away

Slow?

Bust out the Natty Lights.....

I know you got one of those helmets that holds a can on each side with a straw...

Hands free.

Multi-tasking.

Got here at 7:45

Already 25 or so pick up trucks.
I got a dude looks like Uncle Jesse from dukes of hazard sitting 40 yRds facing me

His semi retarded son got here at 11 because he had to wait for walmart to refill his narcolepsy medication. Cause he tends to fall asleep.

So I got that going on

They said they would cover the birds flying over my back from this treeline behind me

Pretty generous of em. Considering we beat em here by 1/2 hour.

Old dude said this has been “his spot” last 5 years lol

Public land, had the stock tank to myself, no one shooting on the tank less than a mile away either. Went 15/23 with the 20 gauge.

Cant imagine having to deal with a bunch of folks like you do.

I used to hunt the sands ranch south of whetstone when I was stationed at Huachuca.. I hunted on post couple times for dove and that was enough for me.

A rainy opener in NE Oklahoma today. 4 of us got our 15 bird limits, but it took a bit longer than normal. My GSP retrieved most of them from us. She has a motor that won't quit.

Its not skipping school, its a field trip. Gotta keep our energy levels up.

Milo the shorthair waiting for another retrieve.

Long retrieve on one of those you wing out on the edge of range, watch it fly away, only to torpedo down into the ground dead about 150 yards out.

The Kitty Whisperer doing her thing. Barn Cat. No houses within 3/4 of a mile. And she has the thing wanting to come home with us. Luckily my buddy said no, its a barn cat to keep the mice out of his combine.

[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

One of them in the picture didn't have a limit of birds as more were flying over the barn...

Good morning. 5 limits, my buddies son's girlfriend with 9, and my buddy who's farm we were on was in his usual spot as the social director, be-bopping around the field to keep birds moving to all of us had a handful.

Sounds like R-50 and Slum might have to stop at the Wobbly Hog for chicken wings on the way back????

I can't say anything, I've only been outside about 20 min all day. I'm waiting for cooler weather and then I may have another excuse...
Great pics, Cheesy.
Hey Cheesy. You got this correct

You can get a good biology lesson in for the day if you make sure those kids see the guys and you point out all the goodies, like a crop full of grain. And explain it to them that we humans don't have those things, but we do have livers and hearts and such.

Glad to see someone had a good day with the kids out in the dove fields. And that looks like a really nice property you got to hunt.

Thanks for sharing the pics.
In typical Wyoming fashion, it got damn cold here yesterday, last night and this morning. There were way less birds around than there was the week before the opener. I didn’t get any. And it’s warmed back up.
Mr. Cheesy, pics are priceless!
Nice pics Cheesy.

How about an update Slumlord?

I got 1.
Slumlord didnt even shoot I think.

Got rained out bad.

Got a geriatric dog that got me up a 247 am literally this morning.
And worrying me all day.

Birds all over the north end of the feild by millet that got blasted down in the rain saturday afternoon and sunday.
Lots of shooting up their bout 500 yds away.
Geuss they dont like soaked sunflower seeds and wanted that rain pounded millet.
Just a speculation ...

Never seen birds flying so fugging high..
Lots of skybusters on the feild.
Dudes firing at birds all over 60 75 yds up the air.
Literally...

Not a good day....
Be others...
Ftcky opens wensday .
See what happens.
Might check out fresh cut corn field at haynes bottoms wma here in Montgomery county.

Definately gonna go back opener of 2nd season to this spot today.
Gotta have some migrating birds on the field by then.

Called it quits at 430.
Wanted to get home and check on my dog.

All in all it was a good day even though the shooting for us sucked.

My dog ate his dog food like a wolf for the 1st time in 2 days.
Which made me happy to see.
Good news on your old buddy eating...Birds will fly another day, Ren.

😎
How was the CICI's? wink
Kansas report -

We had 2 separate cold fronts that swung through 2 days before dove season that pushed most of them out.

I still managed 8 doves today, along with a heck of a sunburn.
Looks like a great time Cheesy!!

At 2:30 he still had 2 cans of unopened Barf-o-roni. 😃
The slumlord ate pretty good.

The most important meal of the day, I always make healthy choices

Opener in Ioway had a good shoot. Lots of birds till bout 9am. Public ground, couple of plots. Prolly 100 guys spread out over a hundred acres. No eights in the face. Everybody pretty polite
State makes us wait till noon to shoot.
Posted By: Krazi Re: T-minus 45 min- Dove opener - 09/02/20
I got up at 5am for the half hour drive. Wasn't really happy to do that. When we got there saw tents in the parking lot. Ahhhhhhhh No!
