Raining and breezy outside. Finally, scrub the smoke scud out of the air. Got a big pot of chili simmering on the stove making the place smell nice. Life is good.

Do you know the purpose of a canning jar?

Yep. But they also do a good job storing soup and chili in the freezer 👍

Nice, Wife made me a giant skillet of no bean chili Sunday evening, been putting it over fisted flat baked potatoes in a bowl all week, damn good stuff with a couple cold beers for supper.

Amazon sells the quart plastic takeout containers like you get at chinese joints. I buy them for all my liquid freezing needs, soups stocks chili etc. Get couple three uses out of them at least. Way cheaper than jars and don't have to worry about dropping one.

I like my glass jars. Each one has been used at least 30 times. Worst case, I have to buy some more lids. Never broke one.

I cooked a big pot of venison chili today too. Made come cornmeal waffles with cheddar cheese in them to eat with the chili. It is a do over surprisingly good.

Huh... learned something new, I would have thought the jars would crack when the chili froze and expanded. I make batches of chili and then vacuum sealer bag it. I cut the bags large enough so even when filled they're kind of flat and lay in the freezer nice. They actually work out nice and can be used as as a freezer pack of sorts, when I pack food in a cooler for a weekend trip.

And masa and cocoa powder

Them square and rectangle ziplock containers work the best for freezing soups, stews and chili. Stack much better and take up less space.

Great looking chili JB.
