Old man shredded earlier this week, maybe they were in here all along. Fence is non existent after a couple of floods.

I'm sure the brands are just optical illusions. Barbecue time!

😀

I’ve known the neighbor since 1986. He’ll get em policed up. Seen him cutting hay today, we got rain coming Monday. I’ll talk to in a few days.

I don't think I've seen any branded cattle up this way in over 20 years. Ear tags are about as close as it gets to branding anymore around here.

They are clearly trespassing.

NM requires you brand your cattle. Rustling is WAY more prevalent in TX, where brands are not required.

Old man been cutting that with a ford powermaster, 1960, 801. 4ft shredder. lol

I cut his creek crossing out. Old ford was damn near standing straight up before I dug it out.

I put him creek gravel in there and dressed it up

His creek channel was getting deepened by some rapids. I haul in some bigger limestone slabs and sunk them then worked in several loader fulls of smaller rock.

I even fixed me and him and renegade a rock-hop for deer season.

Heck of a stripe bass and bluegill hole right in that undercut to the left, green deep hole.

They’ll hit a bare hook.

Good day when you go for a walk and find a bunch of fresh beef!

Dos cows are in good shape.

Well fed.

Creek crossings are pain but they beat not having a creek.

That looks like a cool place.

yes

Get a lawn chair, sit with your creek shoes on up to your knees, cold beer, light rod, 4lb line.

There’s even channel cats in the calmer pools. The Cumberland River is 2 miles down stream.

There’s usually another, 1-2ft depth of water. TVA and COE pull the water down in the fall.

pretty spot you got there slum..
Posted By: slumlord Re: New to me moos - 09/27/20
Used to keep a pretty thick patch of ladino clover here in this little pocket plot, got flooded several years ago. 4ft of water stayed on these fields for almost 30 days. Ruined it for good. Just weeds now.

Thinking about get it back into shape, I need to haul a plow and disc from the homeplace, this property is 13 miles up the highway.

Places where I pushed deadfall back, I cut down and exposed a lot good dirt.

Threw down some cereal rye to hold the mud, we’ll can get a few creek topping floods through the winter.

Maybe a few deer will enjoy the greenup

Tried to gently moved this stand out.

It flopped and folded, I barely bumped it with the loader and bent one of the legs. Oh well, I just pushed it off into the vines and left it for dead.

Only 5 years old, rusted out junk.

I’ve got 3 other stands on the place. There’s an east west ridge that rises above all that creek bottom land. All in oak and beech.

Nice.

Anyway...you did a nice job on that crossing.
Posted By: slumlord Re: New to me moos - 09/27/20
Hard part is getting the diggin tractor over there. Trailer doesnt like my backhoe attachment.

So I drive the machine on the highway.

7 mph. 😀

Even had a guy in older chevy truck tell me I was “number 1” 🖕🏼

Twenty-five years as a volunteer firefighter in a small farming community - I can't begin to remember how many times we were called out to round up someone's escaped cows. It was always kind of fun.
