Slow moving hurricanes suck and blow. grin

Danny was barely a hurricane in '97. It stopped in Mobile Bay and rained for a couple days. Rainfall was recorded at 28". Tree damage was minor.

Sally hit Gulf Shores head-on moving a whopping 2mph with 105mph winds. Conditions started deteriorating here Monday. Winds got serious about 11pm Tuesday. At 3:32 am Wednesday, winds went from 100mph to 0mph within about 2 minutes. Rainfall was recorded at 29.9". Tree damage is about indescribable.

I've been thru some serious storms, but never directly in the eye. It was something to step out into stillness after 4 hours of nonstop hurricane force wind. Luckily the back side of the eye wall fell apart at the coast. Winds may have made it back to about 40mph. More pics to come...

I lost 1 out of 57 pine trees, square on the house and truck...

And a what is it? I'm thinking a lineman's tool? Possibly a tester of some variety? I found it near a pole with a transformer after power was restored.

That tool is just a wire splice for reconnecting wires together
Yikes! Great pics. How devastating, to be in the eye of a big hurricane.
And yet, your new boat house survived. Next time I need some carpentry done I will hire BamaRick.

That was the first thing I saw from the end of my driveway at daylight. Then the next two houses I could see had trees on 'em. If a house didn't have a tree on it, almost all the shingles on the east side are toast.
Looks like you came out pretty good, I'm glad y'all are safe and sound. I don't envy you having all that cleanup work ahead of you, Good luck.

Thanks! I was guessing one of the crews dropped it. They were movin' on!
