I saw Daisy running around in the yard yesterday afternoon with a fresh squirrel in her mouth.

This afternoon Shirley saw this in the living room.

My Daisey does the same thing
I have a friend that has a mean dingo that bites me every time I visit. He feeds the dog scraps from butchering deer and elk. When I visited last I saw elk bones around the yard. I mentioned he started elk season a month early. Joe said his dog could not read a calendar. She killed it in his yard the week before.
Our mutant beagles are single-minded killing machines when it comes to squirrells.
Funny looking beagle you got there.
Squirrel reduction is very important. There is a lot going in there. Squirrels follow scent trails. Your dog is smart enough to figure out the scent trail and develop a plan of attack.

1. Who is Shirley?

2. That’s definitely a squirrel.
As much a cat as a beagle....

Cute dog. My setters have been hell on backyard squirrels over the years. I remember coming home from work when my son was about 8 yrs old. The dog had caught and mostly killed a squirrel. My son was trying to “put it out of its misery” with a BB gun while my niece over visiting was having a meltdown. I put the squirrel down with a shovel and then gave it a proper burial with some dandelions to keep my niece happy.
we're down to one beagle out of 4, hes a sissy dog, worse than a cat? get a fox...

Did you buy that fox or catch it as a kit?
Her job is to blood track but she can’t resist chasing the squirrels in the yard. I think the hunters were more excited that she found it than she was.

Our beagle, Beagle Bailley, was a sweet dog on the surface and full of personality. She loved the kids and live to provide entertainment for the humans. Beneath that cuddly exterior though, beat the heart of a pure killer. When she was a little pup, she got the crap beat out her by a bantam rooster. When she grew up, she made it her life mission to rid the world of chickens. Strangely, she left the leghorn layers alone but got rid of all the bantams. Pack rats, muskrats, ground squirrels, if it was a member of the rodent family, she killed it. A stray cat had to be extra vigilant because she would, sooner or later, get it. A great dog but, like I said, a killer! GD
