Used to hunt squirrels as a kid.
Fox squirrels.
Older I got a deer spot loaded w greys.
They are pretty, but smaller than fox.

Reds are cool looking too, but not listed as a game species here. They can be shot year round.

Never had squirrel stew.
Just fried or baked.

Its fine.

Id rather hunt/ eat rabbit.

Hookeye: Thats right I have on several occasions eaten Rabbit.
I appreciate the correction/information on other ways to prepare Squirrel - I apparently wrongly assumed that Squirrels were so small you would just add them into stew.

Our yard used to be a playground for Cottontails and they were always present - up until a family of Owls and a family of Goshawks took up residency in the trees in our yard a while back!
Since then NO Cottontails - dang.
