If like me, Connery has been an icon for the last 60 years of my life...
sounds dumb, but I feel a piece of my own life, is water that has passed under the bridge...
as a man to look up to... almost like the British equivalency of John Wayne..
God be with you Sean.... and thanks for all the entertainment...
its hard to respect an actor, be Sean was a man who walked the walk and talked the talk in his own daily life...
I remember the family going up to Scotland for the Edinburgh Flower Festival in 1964.. it starts off with a piper playing the bagpipes off a cliff side point, that Edinburgh Castle set upon...after that, Sean Connery was driving a Aston Martin DB3 down the road from the Castle, and came around a curb. and hit the ejection button of the right seat as a dummy is launched into the air and off the Cliff, as they were broadcasting the Theme Music from the James Bond film...
after wards he came down and mingled with the crowds... very personable man... with the crowds tho, it was hard to get close enough to him...bet I got within 20 to 25 feet to him.. and there must have been 25 people between me and him...
he had one tattoo I've heard... and it said Scotland forever...
Doubt we'll see another of him.... at least in my life time.. he was definitely a man's man...
He wasn't the best Bond ever... HE WAS THE JAMES BOND,, who set the standards.. every one else was just trying to keep up with the image he made of what a Secret Agent was about...
I was introduced to Mr Connery in the 2nd half of his career (Untouchables, Hunt for Red Oct, The Rock, etc). Knew he had been 007 but didn’t see him as such until 40yrs after he made those films. Great filmography top to bottom. Seemed like a principled man as well. Will miss knowing he’s out there somewhere.
R.I.P. sir. We've lost a great one. I like that analogy of " The British equivalency of John Wayne". Did he really have that "Scotland Forever" tattoo that I heard about many years ago? Just curious, as I'm 50% Scottish heritage, as my paternal grandparents were both born & raised in Scotland.
I think it was Roger Moore who took over for Connery after a long run of Connery films. I remember he'd had a big fight on a beach and of course beat the snot out of his attackers. As he walked away with his clothes still neat, he said something like "I'd like to see the other Bond do that without messing up his shirt".

To me Roger Moore was the second best James Bond. Sean Connery will always be the best!

The James Bond by which all others were measured; and came up short. Think I will carry one of my Walthers today; and have a Martini, shaken not stirred.
Connery was a good Bond, but I think the most underrated bond was Timothy Dalton. People hate on him but he gave a new side to Bond that had never been seen before. My favorite Connery role was in Highlander
Connery played Bond back when the stories were written by Ian Flemming. When they ran out of Flemming books, they started improvising and things changed. A while back we watched the reworked version of Casino Royale with Daniel Craig. It has far more action that the earlier Flemming books. They were more intrigue while the recent ones are more action. David Niven starred in the original Casino Royale. It was way back when and I don't remember it at all but I'm sure it was slower moving.
He was good at his craft. I used to view him as the best Bond of all times but the more I see Daniel Craig the more my opinion sways that he is the best. Craig has the same polished side but also exhibits a lot of rough edges and likes to get his revenge as well. Either way, RIP, hope you enjoyed your time on earth. God Speed.

In real life it would take a hard body to do the stuff that Bond does on film. Craig is a hard body, much more so than Connery was.

Craig is also a big time Anita-Gun Commie.
I always thought Pierce Bronson was one of the better Bond’s. I’m probably in the minority on that opinion though.

That was George Lazenby. BEST replacement for Connery..
The only Bond. Still.... antigun. Why is communism so prevalent in acting? I do wish hollywood would fall off into the ocean with all commies aboard. Be Well, RZ.
Never cared much for super agent movies no matter who played the title roles.
But “Robin and Marian” has been on my top ten list since 1976. Sean Connery leads a fantasist cast including Robert Shaw, Richard Harris, Nicol Williamson and Audrey Hepburn as Lady Marian. Connery and Hepburn tell a love story so great that it is enough to make one believe in the legend of Robin Hood.
"I love you. More than all you know. I love you more than children. More than fields I've planted with my hands. I love you more than morning prayers or peace or food to eat. I love you more than sunlight, more than flesh or joy, or one more day. I love you ... more than God."
Up there in age with Clint Eastwood. He was a great actor, and I really enjoyed watching him as James Bond. Rest in peace, Sean Connery.
"Connery died in his sleep on 31 October 2020, aged 90, at his home in Nassau in the Bahamas. His death was announced by his family and Eon Productions that same day. His son stated that he "had been unwell for some time"."

Any woman that would believe any of that in the slightest is a complete fool... 😂
RobinHood went around stealing women's virginity as much as he did people's wealth..😁
And if left up to Connery the Gov. would be confiscating your handguns.
The legendary actor, 007 Sean Connery, has past on to even greener fairways. He was quite a guy, and a tough character. I was having a very hard time getting approvals for a big development in Scotland when Sean stepped in and shouted,“Let him build the damn thing”. That was all I needed, everything went swimmingly from there. He was so highly regarded & respected in Scotland and beyond that years of future turmoil was avoided. Sean was a great actor and an even greater man. Sincere condolences to his family!
He wasn't always the star. He'd occasionally have bit parts, probably to boost the film's rating. Kevin Costner's Robin Hood comes to mind. Connery showed up as King Richard in the final wedding scene and had just a couple lines.
He was a great actor and provided much entertainment offing bad guys but his real life politics against people's right to use violence to protect themselves sucks. You really never know who actors are as they are allways paid to be someone else. At 90 RIP he led a full life and has no complaint. MB
Ok,,,I'll be the dissenter.. Yeah, he's iconic and good at his craft, but he's not a good actor. He's an terrific entertainer. Like John Wayne always played John Wayne, Connery always played Connery.
Still, The King of Kafiristan, Son of Sakandar, will reign for eternity.

Lot of truth to that. But Connery was about 20x more interesting than Wayne.
