I know people will disagree but the greatest hunting breed alive has to be the Drathaar. The pit bulls of the hunting dog world. Unless you own one you really can't begin to understand these dogs.

Dogs are like tools, every breed has a specific job to do... and everyone has their favorite!

Dye7 barrel, Sneaky Pete is as handsome & majestic as was my Diggzz!!! They are truly the most amazing hunting companion I've ever hunted with. I've had lots of dogs & nothing compared to him, so in tune with you. Everyone should at least try one!!! I'm to old now to put a great dog like that to work. If Diggzz had been my first I'd of never had a different dog I swear. Still glad I had lots of other breeds from cattle dogs, bird dogs, hound dogs, companion dogs of diff breads, but Diggzz was my soul mate & we were inseparable the last few years. He left before Christmas last year & no, I'm not over him yet, not sure I ever will be till we're together again. Bill out 🐾👣🐾👣🐾👣🇨🇦

My two faithful buddies, unlikely duo as they are. Hank the poodle and Sandy the border/aussie/farm dog, giving me the blank stare when called back in.

My large Munsterlander Heddie. Not only a versatile pointer/retreiver but tracks blood trails for deer and elk and can find elk sheds if Im lucky to get her close enough to one.

Sadly not with us anymore but the best dog ever.

Not a greyhound, not Italian greyhounds, but whippets. The middleweights of the greyhound coursing lineage. Oldest to youngest that are presently our housemates. First two are rescues.

Katie, looking back for her "brother" who is rapidly catching up to her. +/- 23 lbs and has been clocked at about 27MPH. Pic taken when she was about 9 years old.



Breeze, picture taken same day as Katie's, when he was about 5yo. +/- 44 lbs. He's oversized by a 1/2" or so and can't be entered officially in certain events. Clocked at nearly 30MPH in a 100 yd dash. As you can see, he caught Katie.



Dandee, who's not a rescue. We got him as at 8 weeks. We just found out his breeder is the President of the American Whippet Club or some such. He comes from very good lines. Unfortunately, The Corona put the kibosh on entering him in junior shows, we only hope we can get him in some athletic events next summer. Too early for that now, as he's just turned 11 months. Nearly as heavy as Breeze, but an inch or two shorter. He hasn't raced yet, but I expect him to be even faster than Breeze.

Our Border Terriers Murphy and Maggie. I was always a big dog guy but this breed intrigued me so we got one after we lost our last lab. Great dogs, super personality, friendly and loving until they are hunting. They won't be denied and never quit. Have 1/3 acre of our yard fenced and anything that gets inside is in trouble. They made short work of a rabbit this morning, should have taken a picture. Snakes, squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks and a cat have all been caught and dispatched rather quickly. My wife hates this part but absolutely loves them as do everyone who meets them. Their efficiency at killing is something to see. UPS guy yesterday asked what a big guy like me was doing with ankle biters, I told him he hadn't seen them in action or he would know.

If Border Terriers and JRTs were 100lbs, nothing would be safe.

I had a great GSP, but the dog got tumor growths constantly and finially got one inside her nasal cavity and we had to put her down. The poor dog would just stare into the distance.
Great dogs. I miss her. Most loyal dog I ever owned.

They're actually 2 different dogs. Wally...........the one in the snowy tree...........is a 5 year old. Milo is the one coming at the camera. He's 2. Both fairly amicable fellows so long as you are WHERE you're supposed to be, WHEN you're supposed to be there.

Along the same lines as our 2 boyz. The vet asked me how they were with our two kids. I told him they're the 3rd and 4th kids. Vet said, "Well.......... I know ONE thing. You ain't gotta worry about anybody taking your kids".

I said "Nope".
