Home
I don't have the time to waste on messing with the neighbors, or sitting out in the middle of the woods freezing my butt off. I built this house, put it on a wagon, hauled it down to where I could watch the most used travel corridor on the farm, and this was the sixth good deer taken out of it last season and this year. This was one of my target deer, and there are a couple more as good if not better. Junky azz old Remington 700, 6.5 Creedmoor, 120 grain Sierra Prohunter. 187 yards, dropped in his tracks, lungs were nothing but mush.

That's because I don't sell rifles to any that live close to me............lol.
You gotta at least hang that rack on the barn. That's some serious head gear character right there. Congrats James good shootin.
Nice buck, congrats.

Not bad James,

I like the broken tip on that one side for sure.

Seen a small 8 and some forkies

He said he seen a bigger buck but it was in such heavy hardwood, I only seen hints of the rack.
It mosey’d up near my Uncle Nudie Butt’s house and that is off limits zone.

Beautiful big deer! Congratulations.
Here are a few from this one stand this year, I think it's shot out for the season!! The only bow kill was from a ladder 50' away.

If you leave them where the rodents can get to them, they'll eat them up. I'll do a European skull mount on this deer. I've saved the racks of just about every buck I've killed over the past 50 years or so, and have them hanging everywhere. So far, none have been eaten up too bad.
Nice Buck James!!!
Just seen this thread after getting up from a nap.

Congrats!!!

Reaford you guys are taking some nice bucks too!!!

I couldnt get anymore than glimpses of em thru the timber across the valley.
The blonde 8 I let walk thru the saddle I seen earlier was only 2.5 and inside the ears but really symmetrical, almost perfect.
That 2nd one moving thru the timber was brownish racked and had a droopy belly.
Definately a older deer.
That Western Kentucky scenery takes me back to the days of my mis-spent youth.

I grew up west of Mennonite country, though.

Beat me to it. I was going to say it must be faked, everybody "knows" Sierra bullets won't work on a good sized buck.

Just don't tell the two hogs I popped last weekend with 100 grain Sierra Game Kings. grin

Over the years I've killed a gazillion whitetails with a 270 and 130 grain Sierra Gamekings. I shot them at ranges from 15 yards up to 450, and right off the top of my head, can't remember ever having track a wounded deer. The 270 gave me the quickest kills on deer of any cartridge I've ever used. I've killed 3 deer with the 6.5 Creedmoor, all of them mature whitetail bucks. The first two were taken using a 120 and 140 grain Nosler BT. They did the job, lung shot, deer maybe went 30 yards and died. I used the 120 grain Sierra this year because this particular rifle really shoots them well. After all, it's where you put that bullet that counts, not the name of it.

Yep, nice deer, congrats. What's the greenery he's taking a nap on?

Weeds that have come up in a harvested corn field. Chickweed and wild mustard mostly.
Thanks, I was wondering about the mustard, none of that around here.

Wish you had it, as it is a hard weed to keep under control.
Very nice James.
Wish we had it? No thanks, we have our own weeds.
Nice buck !

My father handily killed many deer with 150 grain Sierras out of a 30-06. I know, I loaded his cartridges.
Some nice looking deer.
Congrats!
Yes, Sir!!

That tip doesn't look like it's broken. Looks like a healed over injury while the rack was still in velvet.
