That’s a pretty darned big coyote there dang!

That’d make a nice throw I’d get it tanned.

Our eastern coyotes are much bigger than the western dogs. They're about as big as a German Shepherd.
Posted By: slumlord Re: Tennessee song dog - 11/26/20
That was a female

I’ve killed way bigger males. Some good sized dogs around here.
Posted By: JeffP Re: Tennessee song dog - 11/26/20
Biggest I killed was a big red male. Hind toe about my nose , his nose is almost on ground.

Mine was a bitch too. But I kill coyotes without prejudice . Probably the same as most here

Really?

Do tell.

What would one of those big eastern coyotes weigh?
Posted By: slumlord Re: Tennessee song dog - 11/26/20
I’ll sacrifice a deer hunt to shoot at one.

Theryre ghostlike on this place. Can hunt everyday for 2 weeks and only catch a running glimpse.

I got her to stop by blowin kisses at her. Lol

A few days ago I eased up to Piney Creek looking for ducks. A doe came hauling ass down the creeks upper bank cow trail and passed by. Figured I would wait and see what kind of buck was on her trail and waited a bit. About 30 seconds later a huge, dark brindle wolf looking male coyote followed by a smaller female came slowly trotting along on its trail. I rolled him with a load of 6s at about 35 yards.

Kind of looked enough a like a medium sized red woof so I didnt want any pics on my phone. Pretty sure it was just a big dark phase coyote with German shephard dark face colors with light grey hair over the nasal aspects of its eyebrows. Weird for about a 55 -60 lb coyote I thought. whistle

They will get on deers trail and stay with it 2-3 days not letting it feed or rest until they wear it down. Then do their crazy howling to call reinforcements in for the kill.

What happens to your fone w a coyote pic on it?
Posted By: Crappie_Killer Re: Tennessee song dog - 11/26/20
Feed store a couple towns over had a yearly coyote contest based on weight. We killed a 42 lb male that year. We weren’t even in the top 10. Biggest was just over 50 lbs.

When I was about 18 and the wildlife expurts were still saying coyotes didnt bother deer I was stalking along squirrel hunting in a South Texas river bottom in total camo. A coyote opened up about 200 yards ahead of me and a few seconds later I had to jump aside to keep a big wild eyed doe with a big fawn from running over or through me.

I thought, silly deer, coyotes wont bother you. So much for wildlife expurts.

I've seen a doe stumbling and falling down steep rocky canyon wall while deer hunting in NM once. It was pretty noisy and I heard it coming first. I wondered WTH. About 15 min later a single coyote came calmly trotting down its trail.

I couldnt remember at the time re legal status of dead red woofs. Besides, I have plenty of dead coyote pics.

Nice coyote Slum. Only one I've ever seen in the wild (that I was sure was a coyote) I missed with a flintlock around 1998 or so.

That’s a sizable yote.

Most are little runts out here.

Early one morning, I watched 2 coyotes "team tag" a fawn.
One would chase a bit, bring the fawn back in a circle, then the other would give chase.
I wanted to see how they worked, so didn't shoot.
Fawn got away - went full-tilt down a rockslide, I've been on (VERY slow up or down)
I found the fawn, by itself, about 30 minutes later, up just below the rimrock a little around the mountain.
