A couple of years ago I cut some paulownia. This wood is great for projects that require strong light weight wood. Compared to western red cedar it weighs 19 lb per cubic foot vs 18. From my experience the grain is much longer and it is stronger. Haven’t researched the shearing comparison.

My plan is to use the wood for strip canoe/kayak building but I have more than I need. With that in mind I’ve been trying to find realist pricing on the excess lumber but am finding this difficult because of the rarity of finding this tree in sellable form. Does anyone have a good idea of a starting point per on paulownia?.
Paulownia can be hard on your cutting tools....I like sika spruce very long grain fairly easy to find substantial in North America....not from China...Paulownia from Australia prices are very high....
