I was on for a while. I had to reboot everything, and failed to get back on.

I never learned the ropes of it. All I wanted was to keep track of things like church, no active website most all Facebook.

I was strongly considering it in late-15 because I have friends all over the country but then the 16 election happened and my wife was showing me some of the retarded stuff people were saying and I figured I was better off avoiding it.

Now I’ll never ever go on.

I have a saying I tell people when they ask why I'm not on social media. "Nothing good ever came from Facebook". Way back when all this was new. Early 2000's. Woman my wife works for had her husband rip their family apart and run off with a woman he met on My Space when that was the hot ticket. Crushed the woman. Crushed the kids. I know its happened for millenia other ways but right then I decided it probably wasn't a good thing to get involved in. I hear about more drama started in families from guys at work with crap other family members say about politics, family crap, etc. I'm an age also where its weird not to have social media. Even my hillbilly cousins think its weird.

I had an account for many years but terminated it about a year ago. For keeping in touch with distant family and people from high school, it was great.

I realized that there's a reason I wasn't in touch with those people, and when the extreme political censorship crap ramped up I had no interest in making Facebook's owners more wealthy.

I made it a quarter way through the sign up process and realized that is waaaaay too much info for anyone to keep even if you keep it "private". Gee, almost 20 years later they're in hot water for selling personal info. Shocked I was, not.

i have an account because it is a good aggregator for multiple hobbies to read about while on the schitter. you can also get some nice stuff on the marketplace if you can avoid the scammers. that and posting pics that prove how much better i have it than other people. as soon as somebody posts more than once a week, they get unfollowed. but there is sure a lot of horschit on there. people, mostly women, are really dipschits with their comments. i can always tell when my buddies old lady is hitting the bottle because she is on there arguing with everyone. its funny as hell. i tell her husband about it and he just shakes his head. he is computer illiterate.

I joined for a specific reason 7-8 years ago[not for posting or finding anyone but for communication with my son when he moved to a non-cell coverage area but had wifi so we could message, per his request].

I would walk from it if we didn't have our vacation rentals as a page on there.
FB tries like hell to get us to spend money with them to 'boost' our page, I won't give them a nickel and only use the free exposure.
We have a bout 500 people that follow that page and do quite a bit of business from it[only advertising we do].
I don't go there for social sheet anymore, it's just the same ol-same ol'

I have an active account. Use it for two things........ easy messaging with my son who lives in a different State and four groups involving Sharps, Rolling Blocks, motorcycles, and local history. I dislike Zuckerberg and all that FB stands for and was going to quit until I realized that the groups are all conservative, most of the FB friends I have are conservatives, and there is a [bleep] of information about the other side blabbed on FB.

If I quit FB then I go to my email and its owned by some piece of crap too. I like this site but could not be on here without some liberal who owns the system I use to get on the internet.

As noted by an earlier poster, I also use it mainly for Messenger because I don't have cell service at home. But the marketplace can be handy, and it's a convenient way to keep up with old friends.
