How many do you have?

What projects have you made with them?
Post pics if possible.
I'll start.

Coffee table in college.

Next.
Here’s a pic of dog house

I didn’t build that

The old ones were great, now they got a paper center and are junk. I cleaned thousands of pheasants, ducks, geese, perch, walleye and a few crappie and huns on one at my inlaws.
Way too wide open c'mon man. R we talking hay wire or the big ass spools above ^
I'm a contenda with hay wire. Zlong as part spools and rolled up bits count.
Those wire spools make good redneck picnic tables.... wink
I think he means the big ones you gotta steal from the side of the road by rolling them into an S10. Bigger pickups are too much work. They roll right into an S10.

I bet someone creative to make a neat diarama of the saloon from Gunsmoke!
Dia whut?
I got a bunch, pictures tomorrow !
diarama

I had that last night, horse radish and prime rib tore me UP!!
Prolly make a deee stand with those huge spools they run utitlites with.
Ok the bigguns I've had but didn't think they were worth moving so I'm spooless atm. Ya know four of them with two trees for axels and a pallet for a deck would make a pretty cool off road go cart.

Oak wine barrels...Now, there’s a prize.

😎🦫
Son of a gun that shooting bench looks all right eh? You'd have to figure out some blocks for feet so it wouldn't rock is all.

Guchi spool deco.
The bigger ones make decent tables. Especially if you cut a piece of plywood for the top. The smaller ones make nice bedside or lamp tables. If you get the ones that wire rope come on they have wooden centers. The ones that 12-2 come on have cardboard centers. Some are even plastic now. I've seen tables, stools, dog houses and shooting benches made from them. If you have a hill side on your farm they make nice rolling targets.

They are not made from treated lumber so their outdoor life is limited.

You don't have to steal them off the side of the road. They can be had for asking. Its just something else the crew has to dispose of. We used to throw them in a big scrap dumpster and unroll the auger on the boom truck and mash them up to make more room.

The huge ones like really big wire comes on are made of steel and usually require a deposit. I'm talking Hi-Line wire like 1272 and 1590 MCM.

Not mine, stole the pic after someone mentioned shooting bench, I thought it looked spiffy.
Who had the crane post? Back when the ends made tortillas for the outriggers. A i beam that slid out and then a big acme threaded leg was turned to the proper spot. There was a steel pad to add but there is no such thing as too much surface area or too solid ground
I have had a few but they rot quickly so not much I can do with them outside. I have tried painting and polyurethane-ing them but they just rot a little slower from the inside out. I can see how they could be useful inside in a shop or garage.

A person like Renegade50 could cover that in carpet and make a giant kitty jungle gym for his housecats.

Hang some little catnip balls off of it, fishing pole with a whimsical pink plush mouse on a tether.

Just throwing out some ideas

"Shut the front door" !
That's a nice dog house a coat of poly and it should hold up for years. They like flat roofs best.

Ya need to put a golf umbrella in the hole to keep them dry, and off of the ground.

Get yo azz down there and put some rezerved sines on em fer me, bruh.
Oh, there's one here on the 7 Acre RANCH, over in the sagebrush. I'll see if I can get a pic someday. It's all flat an laying on the ground, might cover an old well or septic tank for all I know.

I sure could use a couple of them spools for the next addition to the Gulag.
