This used to happen once in a while. Now it's all the time!

You have to have and deploy the triple secret password! laugh
I guess so.

Either that or Vulcan Mind Meld with Ric. smile
Dammit... I thought this was another Elklayer thread.
The problem is the period for some reason. Search for 243 and I can open the links in the results. Search for .243 and I get the 403 message.

this is a bug , instead of .40 , use 40 . its using .40 as a directory and dot files are secured.
40 won't work. Search has to be at least 3 characters.
Wouldn't it be convenient if search functions were set up for regular users who don't have a degree in information technology? But Noooooo..... Everything has to be set up according to a pre-programmed maze of B.S. that's next to impossible for regular folks to navigate. Rant over.
there is a google custom search for the campfire, have to find the link.
The computer knows that 40sw is short and wimpy. You are being protected from poor life choices.
It doesn't matter what you search for. It's when you click on one of the line items in the results, the error message above in my OP gets returned.
You need to touch your secret decoder ring to the lower left corner of your screen before trying to search.

Try searching for Leupold and see if those "line items" will open.

You don't need any special link. Just add site:24hourcampfire.com to whatever you're searching for. That's all the link you're thinking of does.

I'm trying to use the proprietary Search function from this BBS.

Custom search for 24hcf only made for people without degrees in IT. The results show you the links and where the search word is in that link.

Put this in the address window*, hit enter and then put .40 or just 40 in the little rectangular box that appears in the upper left. Or anything else you want to look for.

* that's the little rectangular outlined space at the top of the screen. It probably has something like "https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads..." in it as you read this.

I realize that and is why my reply to stx quoted him. My replies to you have been germane to the search function on this web site.

Have you tried searching for something without a dot, decimal point, period, or whatever you want to call it to see that you don't get the 403 error all the time?

Did it (verboten) with another string for me yesterday. Thought at first it was a closed thread, but every result in the search exhibited the same behavior.

Don't know who needs to hear this but efff Google.

But what about Smith & Wesson or Smith and Wesson or S and W or S & W?

I can’t get it through guys in charge of parts in our plants that if they don’t blame stuff in the same fashion then people will only be able to find it about 1/8th of the time.
For me
.40
Does not work

For me
40S&W
Does work

But if you took one of those
,40
Hits, instead of clicking on them, use the thread name for another search.

That way you would get a complete search for
.40
All the fugging pop up ads in the classifieds suck.
