I'm in the market for a new spotlight. In Pa it is legal (except during rifle deer season) to spot deer so I want one for the truck. I don't want a heavy rechargeable light, I want one that would plug into my truck as the only source of power. I've been looking and all I'm finding are lights that are rechargeable and heavy.

It seems with all the new bulbs out there that there should be something that would be amazing as far as a deer spotting spotlight.

Get you a Milwaukee M18 portable search light. LED and them sumbitches are bright AF

That's the way to go, I have a wireless led spotlight mounted on my work van which is nice and convenient but the Milwaukee is a lot brighter and cheaper. I think the company pays about 400.00 for the spot light

The Brinkman 3 million candlepower is the one I use. It lights them up that's for sure

I use a Streamlight rechargeable that is pretty light. Lightforce are great if you want plug-ins. I have some buddies that use them for deer counts and swear by them. They are really good for spotlighting fields, pipelines, etc.

I use the 60v Dewalt spotlight. It doesn't plug into a lighter but it's extremely bright.

I bought it because I have a bunch of Dewalt battery tools, not disappointed.

An Acebeam W30 if you can find one. That'd have a "new bulb" that'd spot some deer a ways off.

What you are talking about. We might be the only state where
spotlighting is legal. Out of staters don't understand riding around
for hours with you froze stiff arm hanging out the window.

Batteries are too heavy and die too quick.

Never realized then everybody didn't do it.
Mentioned spotlighting a couple times around
out of staters and got accused of poaching and all kind of stuff.

Not going to get into that aspect of it, but just looking was a cheap form
of entertainment.

We need to get at least one trip in soon.
Wife girls and I board the minivan and spend several
hours looking at deer. Oldest Chillin is 17 and a senior.
Might not be many more trips together.

So we have a recommendation for a Brinkman and an Acebeam W30. All the rest are rechargeable or mounted (which I specifically stated I didn't want).

I'm not familiar with the Acebeam and will look into them but I've had Brinkman's before and while they're okay they aren't great. There has to be a hand held plug in spot light with a Cree bulb or similar made these days that will WOW you.

Dillonbuck I'll check those ones at Grice's out but they all look like they have a halogen bulb. They would be good but not great I'd think.

Show us where you 'specifically stated' not mounted. You said you wanted one 'for the truck'. I showed you one 'for the truck, ON the frigging truck. You said you wanted one 'that would be amazing, and I showed you the one that is the MOST amazing. I rest my case. Hence my pic.....

Yeah, that GoLite is a terrific light. Had one on my govt truck when I was a wildlife specialist. The remote worked very well.

Most people don't know it but a Gazzillion Candle Power ain't gonna do nuthin' but spook off what you are trying to see.

I'm sure that light is fantastic but I'm not mounting one to my roof.

You can't expect people from outside of PA to understand the needs of a deer spotlighter. Those rechargeables would be long dead before the spotting session is over and how slow would one need to drive to sweep the fields on both sides of the road with a truck mounted model?

Check out the Ryobi P717 LED. Rated at 2500 candle power and 700 yds. Run it all night from vehicle power, or stick the best Ryobi battery in it and get four hours walking around slash tracking time out of it.

It comes with a cord for the cigarette lighter/power port. Or it will run on any of the Ryobi 18V NiMHy batteries.

I guess a magnet mount is too hard for some folk....... You can put it on, and take it off as needed. No need to leave it up there all the time, unless you want to...

I spotlight year round, mostly from my work van because I'm on call all the time, the wireless led is fantastic, but Milwaukee spotlight is as good if not better
