Picked up a new rifle. 1921 E Schmidt & Habermann 8x57. 21” octagon barrel. Integrated front sling swivel. Greener style safety. Fair amount of engraving. Wood has some minor dents but not bad for 100 years old. Blueing is decent. Someone replaced the bolt at some point. I’m not a fan. Thinking I’ll replace (which means I’ll pay someone to do it) the bolt and swap out the wing safety. It’s D&T so I’m looking to put a small classy scope on it. I’m open to suggestions.

Pics in the Mauser sub forum.
Cool. There's a Mouser sub forum? I'll be dangded.
I basically dicked off for 9 hours today and made a few hundred bucks at work. Stopped in at the farm on the way home and helped my Dad, Uncle, and Grandad cut some downed trees off the fence. I’m now sitting in my easy chair next to the wood stove having my nightly ration of High Life. Not too bad for a weekday I guess.
Took dad to the hospital this AM, he's 92, hip replacement surgery, into the OR at about 1210, out of recovery around 1730, he walked down the hallway 1930..............

Busted up a bunch of the garden today. Probably do some more tomorrow. Used my favorite eye-hoe. I really like using it instead of power equipment. Got a bunch of winter weeds pulled up. And the roots to other unneeded plants exposed to the winter elements! 😊😊😊😊😊
Nope. My wife headed to town for most of the day so it was the pup and I and she was a gem. Upon wife's return, I headed into town for shelving for a closet that is a clusterfu ck of gun parts, powder, cast bullets... I'll sort it tomorrow. Ham and green beans just down and sipping an Old Fashioned. The pup just crapped and is spinning. She'll sleep well tonight.

52F for a high today, mostly sunny after the freezing fog burned off, split firewood outside the shed is drying again, mud in the yard is drying out too. Green grass is poppin' up. What's not to like.
