The Rifleman Chuck Connors used a 44-40 lever action rifle with a modified lever that allowed semi-automatic fire. The lever had a set screw in it that tripped the trigger when operated. What would the woke crowd think of a man defending his child with an illegal semi-automatic rifle. Chuck was the AR-15 of his time.
The Rifleman
Hell no, The Rifleman was a hero when I was a kid. Lucas McCain was such a badass, Chuck Norris would bow to Chuck Conners.
I never could perfect that eject spin he did.
Watched every show with my son, reruns of course. Watched it as a kid. My son today uses a Browing BLR in 308 for his hunting rifle.

You probably weren't 6'7" and strong as an ox.
There were many sound moral lessons in that show. I still watch it.

Great show.

I would love to see the 44-40 come back. It seems like an ideal cartridge.

It made for a formidable hand gun/rifle combination to have along for its day.

And the .44RM does a good job today for gun/rifle.

When I looked closely a the 44-40 specs I wondered where they got the 357 SIG from.
Heck of an athlete, played MLB and in the NBA.

44-40 Creedmoor
Still can't figure out why Micah was the Sheriff. Every time he got in a jam Lucas had to handle things. That was nearly every episode.
What do kids watch now? Fuggin' Barney and the gay-ass Telletubbies?

Sure glad I grew up in the era I did.

kaywoodie - you're right about the morals. The writers / producers back then sure did more than just sell ratings. We learnt somthin' when we watched TV gawddammit!

Jeezus I sound like an old fart, but IDGAF.

LOL......
Lucas donated to the community. He wasn't a town mouse. He worked hard out on the ranch living the dream.
And if you saw the first episode Micah was in, youd expect him to end up as the town drunk rather than the sheriff.
MM,

If the Bat flyers and all of Washington have their way, the rifleman would not be permitted to have his baseball bat to protect his boy.
But Black Bart and the Austin Gang would be given the key to the city.

Chuck was 6'5", IIrc, and had long arms - not many could do the "spin".

Not to take anything away from CC, as being 70 this year, I grew up watching shows Like the Rifleman, and Branded.

He could also play a pretty good weasel.

One of my favorite sound tracks and movies is "The Big Country" with Gregory Peck, Carol Baker, Jean Simmons, Chuck Connors and Burl Ives.....

Ya!

GWB
didn't he jump from a jeep and ride a hippo in Africa, too?
At Texas A&M baseball when the Aggie pitcher throws a strike a video of the Rifleman opening scene is shown on a big screen.
