Well, it varies by location, but on the Pacific coast it IS a weird winter. Wed morning I had 13" of snow on the level, this time of year normally that should last for a couple of weeks...nope, thermometer popped up to 48 degrees and the wind blew for 24 hours... snow gone. Never saw that before. Last summer, I think we went around a hundred days without a drop of rain.

I sure wish we would get 13" of snow.
4" total maybe over two days last week, then it was almost all gone by day three.
45F yesterday, 54F on the recorder for today, 47F presently. 20+ mph winds with higher ones expected.............from the south.
If we don't get some real moisture soon, our extreme drought will move to exceptional by June I bet.
Pretty normal temps around here. Got about 15" of snow on the ground. A bit worried, as we did not have a white Christmas. About 92% or average snow pack at the moment. Hope it keeps coming.
Local National Weather Service office went full retard this moring. Issued a Winter Storm Warning (Red Alert) for 1 - 3" (INCHES) of snow. In frickin' coastal Alaska.

Yep and a call for minus 70 with wind chill, in Fairbanks tomorrow!
I have a son in Seattle. He says that there 2" of snow can be a disaster because of the hills. Nobody has snow tires and most can't drive in it. They have wrecks everywhere.
The part that gets me is when the weatherman tells everyone to bring their pets in the house tonite because it's going to dip below freezing. Pzzzzzzztttttttttt...........guess what weatherman, animals that live outside are used to the weather. I've seen my farm dogs sleep out on the snow, in zero weather.
I don't want a pet that I have to shelter from the weather..............period.
Guys are already bitching about the temps next week. They say single digits up to maybe 20. I was on a weather website from back home and showed them AK's predicted windchills. They shut up.
One guy made me laugh, he said no wonder we got that place for so cheap.

It depends on the weather. See Joel's post above on windchill.
Windchill is a nasty thing.
Yep, I remember your cats having a heat lamp. My cat aint so lucky...but he's set up pretty good for winter. Shed, box spring, mattress and cat bed on top. He be just fine.

Not cold here. Dunno the temp. Low forties...high thirties...maybe. Cat is in my kid's room sleeping on the bed as he games. Coondog is in her house with straw. All good.

The city Yankees are whining again. Meanwhile everyone else has been doing chores and carrying on as normal as possible.
We got 18" maybe 20" a bit north of Boston last night. I'd appreciate a quick lesson on proper etiquette as far as Yankee whining, if possible. Want to make sure I conform to proper standards and all. TIA.

We've had more frosty mornings this winter than I can ever remember. We dont have a lot of freezing weather like you nawthern fellers do. However we do get into the 20's a few times each winter. For the past several years, 20 frosty mornings a winter has been about normal.... not this year. We've had at least twice that many, maybe more. Rain has been about normal, even had a little snow, one day.
