I wish, but they will claim he had no knowledge of this/was a figurehead only to bring awareness to the movement etc.

He IS up for re-election in 2 years. This was a special election to fill the term of Johnny Isakson.

He will be vulernable if the GOP runs the right candidate. (for a change)
