Cant sleep.
Pops in ICU and fam has decided to stop further procedures.
Should be over with this afternoon
But maybe not.
Gonna happen soon enough
Hope the old man has a smooth transition.

Had a good run, mobile and sane til recent. Had health issues, not unexpected.
So the last bit a little bumpy but overall a good run.

Thankful for the great medical people. Indeed some have a calling.

Take care Champ. Gonna miss ya.

Tough enough, then factor in the covid restrictions in place at most hospitals, makes a really hard situation worse.
Good thoughts to you and your family.

Thanks.
Couldn't see him in rehab before but hospital is fine. WTF
Sedated, some response. Kids went last night, glad they did.
Didn't want them to have any feelings of regret, not that there would be any whatever they chose.
People grieve differently.

Odd, I don't want to say goodbye.
Am cool with him passing.

Stupid but I just can't say it. I just told him to rest easy last night.
Kinda struggling if I can actually say goodbye out loud today.

Sorry for being such a twat about it.

Stay strong during this difficult time...

Don't think you're being a "Twat"
We each will cross this bridge in our own way.

I’m sorry, this is tough on you and the family. Praying for you.

Prayers sent..... Lost my dad years ago and one part of his wisdom was that it was better that he should live to a ripe old age and have his kids at his funeral versus him having to attend the funeral of one of his four children. Makes sense when you think about the natural life cycle but it's still never easy.

Prayers for you and your family hookeye.
That’s a tough spot to be in. Your confusion is understandable.
No need to say goodbye.......rest easy is fine, or whatever you want to say.
Will be thinking of you and yours.

Sounds like your father has led a long and exemplary life, many good deeds to take with him to the hereafter.
Posted By: hookeye Re: Long day today - 02/20/21
Was not a fancy guy.
Outlived his brothers.
Didn't bury any of his kids or grandkids.

Ups n downs but a decent life where he was content.
Certainly could have been worse, maybe better.
Marched to his own drum.

Drummin stops in a few.
Just the way it is.

Thanks for the prayers and good vibes. My kids are gonna be there.
Ive seen this stuff before, they haven't.
Sorry to hear. You’re sending him off with honor. We’ll tip a glass to him at the appropriate time.

Hang tough,

FC

Hard situation to be in.
Your probably the central figure of strength in all of this in the family.
BTDT.
When he passes, just cross his hands on his chest, give him a kiss on his forehead and say he is gone. And he had a good life.
Needs ta be one strong person to help others see closure in a way from a lead figure.
That person is you I'm betting.

Best wishes to you and your family members.

Was in that exact same situation in 2015.

Only you know what is right.

I decided to leave nothing on the table.

God bless

I also had a similar situation. Dad was starting to go downhill as I was getting ready for hip replacement. Could only talk to him while in ICU. Was able to visit in the hospital once they put him in a regular room. Hospice was a blessing and he left us in his sleep. We told each other several times we loved him and he responded back. He was able to keep his dignity right to the end.

Very sorry you are living this part of life. Buried my dad three weeks ago. Last words we spoke were I love you and he went in a week long coma. For what its worth I didn't say goodbye either. The last few moments I told him it was okay to go see mom. With my belief that was closure enough.

My relationship with my Father could have been better, but when he passed away I was grateful to have been there, we spoke and it was a healing experience for both of us.
Prayers for him and your family.

Peace to you and your family sir.

My Pop passed away while my brother and I were on an elk hunt in Montana.

He had been fading and I was doubtful about going, but he asked if I could get my money back, the answer was no of course. He said take your hinney out there, you have saved and planned for it, shoot you a big un and if I pass they can put me in the freezer till you get back.

I called him when I got to the bull, I sent the picture that graces my profile. Wife printed it out big and taped it to the wall in his room. He bragged and showed everybody that came in. He slipped away two days out on the return trip, sisters and wife were in the room.

I put a roll of tie wire, a pair of clines, his Eastwing and a roll of duct tape in the coffin with him, patted his tired old body and committed him to the ground next to his wife of 69 years. He missed her so when she died, he was lost, he loved his children and grandkids, but he was never the same. Told me he was going to see Bunt, (his nickname for Mother) the day I stopped by loaded up and headed west and said I was going to Montana. I gave him a hug and told him how much I appreciated him. He held on to me for a minute with those gnarled, twisted hands that had built so much, done so much for me. He told me to get going then, needed to make the first stop before dark, always concerned.

Bless you. It is the way of our world, the only thing we are sure of is that when we take that first breath, we will take a last one. Again, peace to you, and to him!

Are you there now ?
Posted By: hookeye Re: Long day today - 02/20/21
Thanks again guys, and for passing along your stories.
Good group here. I suspected as much wink

Im cool with it.

Aint gonna keep a dry eye but will be OK.
Priest on the way and we will get the ball rolling.

Aint worried about me, just the kids sis and cuz.
Type of funeral service, inform buddies ??

Sis and cuz asking. Uh, he was a gun guy. None of that wishy washy stuff LOL. Let em drink or blast a critter in remembrance.

Or not.

However his kin and friends want to honor or remember is fine. Can choose not to also.

I dont get all the emotion of some. Dead is dead and after that the pageantry is for the living, mostly for those in the business of pageantry.

Thanks again.
Trying to find his funeral stuff he claimed he did a yr or so ago. No place has record of it. My dad OCD, keeps and labels everything. Found everything, but that.

Kids laughed at old pics.

Posted By: mark shubert Re: Long day today - 02/20/21
Old pic's are great - hope it all works out OK.
Unfortunately - dying is a fact of life.
Just think how over-populated Ma Earth would be - without death.
I feel the effects of aging - don't want to stick around forever.
Posted By: hookeye Re: Long day today - 02/21/21
Got another fam member gonna get planted soon too.
Been sick a while.

Priest should offer a discount LOL

Kids found old pics of me as a kid, not cool.
They ever post any online I'll disown em!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO
