I haven't been on here lately guys. I"ve been pretty sick. Back issues, bladder issues, a non malignant kidney tumor and a bacterial infection in my bloodstream. I go into surgery to remove my pacemaker Wededday. The bacterial infection has affected the lead which goes to my heart. It's a serious, touchy surgery. Lots of other work in my future after this.
Should things not go well. I just want you guys to know how much I"ve enjoyed my time here There"s some darned good folks in here. Keep the fire burning boys. I'll see you on the other side.

A man that has made peace with this life... Is a Blessed man.
With that said... best of luck to you on 20 more good years.
Prayers offered on your behalf and on behalf of your medical team. Your job is to focus on getting through this. A positive attitude is helpful. We'll look forward to seeing you soon.
GopherGunner: Best of luck. Thank you for taking the time to notify us, as a lot of us enjoy your contribution to the "Fire and your camaraderie. I am hoping to hear of the sucess of the surgeries and tales of pretty nurses in the near future.
You've been one of the good guys here for as long as I can remember and I'm looking forward to hearing from you next week, post-op. You can tell us all about the pretty nurses who took care of you.
Best wishes for a successful recovery. Hurry back!
you'll come out of this fine jeff. know you are in my prayers. i can tell by our PM's that you are a good guy and i would love to meet you sometime. this is a speed bump and by next fall you'll be back in the woods getting skunked and bitching about the deer herd just like me. best of luck my friend.
Jeff, Sorry to find out about your medical difficulties, missed you here on the CF, thought you were still adjusting to the new job. Prayers for successful outcomes and recovery for all upcoming procedures. My bride and I really appreciated your words of support when we were at Mayo for a bunch of tests 5+ years ago. Be well and get well GG.
Jeff, you need to make it back to camp here in Pa. at least one more time. I have an new rifle to show you. If followed me home from Clearfield last weekend.
Jeff I'm new around here but when I look at these threads and see that airplane avatar of yours I always take the time to read what you have to say. I'm beginning to develop a sense of who on here I can claim as like minded to myself and from those post I see that in you. So now I see this thread this evening and read what you had to say. It's always cause for concern when someone is having health issues and I hope and pray what you're going through is something that you get past quickly. Always remember that God told us he's the same yesterday, today and forever. So with that in mind this is the same God that created us all, that parted the Red Sea, that actually stopped the sun from moving so a war could be fought and sent His Son to die on the Cross then to be resurrected 3 days later. He did allot of other things too. Be encouraged and know that many of us are praying for you.
Jeff, thanks for explaining your absence and sharing your situation. Please keep your chin up and rest in the healing hands of God.
Back then when you and I were able to meet at that little steak place in Farmington (great evening, eh?) I was in your neighborhood because I had experienced a long ordeal down the highway at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. It had been pretty much dreadful, including some of the same types of problems you are fighting - and fortunately I was back there for follow-up after having survived. Very difficult - yes -, but even the removal of the pacemaker paid some dividends. You are a gentle but strong man, and you can overcome the odds and stay with your family and us.
I never once told about that severe problem and battle here on the Campfire. Once back in the realm of the upright, I met up with those great guys that next summer at Armijo Springs for our annual event. It was obvious that some were shocked at my condition. I simply dug in and did what I could. Later on, more than one of those fine guys told me that It had looked as though I were a goner - not long for this earth.. Actually, those guys, along with my family, were the big stimulus for fighting to get back to some shade of normal. It really helped. They also told me that I should have posted here to let them know what was going on - in some detail - so that they could support me with prayers and through other means. Not my style at all, but their chiding made sense. Those folks are among the finest on earth.
I've been through two of those dark situations now - and know that God has some good reason for causing me to stay here - I simply need to fully realize those reasons and respond. I expect the same in your case, and will hold you and your family up in my prayers.
You’ve had a rough pat h of health here for a bit. Like everything else....this will work out too. I expect you back here next week posting from recovery because your bored with the nurses.
Wishing all the best. No doubt your family and friends, like the buddy you helped out when he got burned out is right there for you just as you were there for him in a time of desperate need. Nice to have friends.
I'm chomping at the bit here. Go ahead and keep posting your pity party booshat and and challenge me on this. Dig your heels in and argue your integrity in general before the 24HCF court, Jeff. Please. You think I forgot about the game you ran on so many people here--including me, in 2013-2014? You know, the one where you uncorked your shockingly creepy and disgusting hustle based on pure lies, with you asking people here to help 'your buddy' who'd been 'burned out' and left bereft of even a dime, stitch of hope for the future for him and his sweet family? You recall the lies you told, right? Probably not, but after my figuring out what you'd done, ultimately followed up and with relative ease proved that your tales were lies and called you on them directly. The ones you then rewarded me in return with yet more pathetic, panicked backpedaling and lies and feeble attempts at bluffs and weak threats? Ring any bells yet?
You crumbled pronto once you'd finally realized I had you in checkmate and was ready to strangle you with your own lies. Think again if you think I'll let bygones be bygones here, you pathetic wretch. I dare you to post again on this thread. Do it and I'll happily *hammer* you with your own farking lying words. Oh, you thought I'd deleted those old correspondences? Think again. I've waited patiently, knowing you'd eventually show your true colors once more and and seek to take advantage of people here. First thing you know, Old KG's a MILLIONAIRE!
Your move, you crooked, lying, low-life, thieving, immoral sonofabitch. Sadly, I see you've managed to try to perpetuate your dishonesty on many other good members here once again. Well, that stops now.

That story some years ago about his buddy getting burned outta house and home was a ruse? Well, fugg me. I sent ol' Jeff a pair of Sorels and some Pentax binos along with some various sundries to help "his buddy" have some gear for that upcoming deer season.
If it's pathological is a dissociative personality inevitable?
Definitely pathological. Hard to diagnose w/out clinical intervention, but if I were the attending psych doc assigned to the case I'd be arguing toward suicide via subliminal suggestion. Where's that damned pocketwatch of mine? 'You're getting very sleepy, and, well, now would be an opportune time to run a nice, hot bath and give the old straight edge a wee workout..."

Great. I was just going to wish him well. He's a MN guy right? As if we're not high enough on everyone's shït list to begin with. I have no time for deceit if that's what it is.

I can't remember who told me but I think like a year after Operation Free Schit took place, kamo spotted his beloved 1300 in a hunting pic with The Goph.
I somehow missed this whole thread until now. If someone truly has health issues (or other problems in his life), I pray for help for him, but I cannot condone the sort of thing that Leighton (who is a good guy all the way) brings up.
I always thought it odd that hunting gear would be the first thing you asked for to help someone who had just lost everything in a house fire, seems there would be way more important stuff needed.

You know in hindsight, the drag rope suggestion did seem awfully specific.
Hang in their GG. Let us know how your recovery is going on here. Follow the Docs advice rehabing.
Soooooo...
After reading this thread's latest postings. I should not have made this intial post quoted.
Great......
Now I got a cock sticking outta my forehead from showing a little random act of kindness in making that post... What a fugging way to start the fugging day. Make some Mother Theresa post wishing someone gets thru some schit and wind up with a fugging cock sticking outta my forehead from it after the fact .... Place is full of fugging scam artist. Dont know which is worse on here. The Liberal Socialist Democrat sockpuppet trolls. Or the Fugging scam artist..... JFC......

There was a dude on here that went by ironeagle80dumbfugk. He was always getting free schit. Then one day he gets on and tells everybody “it’s time to pay it forward.” He explained that the campfire helped him out many times, and now it was time for everybody to help his friend.

If that is true, that's about as low as you can get . How does someone look themselves in a mirror after being outed over something like that and still post here?

Kamo went full samurai on dat ass.
I remember ironeagle well....one of those folks who suffered if his complete life WASN'T in chaos.
And as for GG..I got little red flags popping up about him and have had him on ignore for years...so I guess the little voice in my head was right about him.
It keeps warning me about Flave too...but it warned me about crazy women, and I did nothing to avoid them either...

In their mind, they "deserve" that stuff. They believe they've been "kicked in the teeth" and/or cheated by the more fortunate their whole lives. It's the same mentality that allows someone to steal from their employer. They justify the theft because their employer hasn't paid them what they believe they're worth, has in their mind unjustifiably passed them over for a promotion/raise, not given them enough vacation, etc.
In the cases of those who attempt to "dupe" the forum population, in their mind, they bring such great value to the forum that they deserve things from everyone else.
Beware the "sob-story". It's unfortunate that I've become such a cynic, but, my noggin tells me that well adjusted and honest folks have a support system of friends/family to help them through tough times. Folks who "bear their soul" to strangers on websites are probably friendless and estranged from family for good reason.
Can someone find or bump the thread where his wife “Cathy” and her sister/aunt whatever had to draw pistols on someone in a golden corral parking lot or some shît.
All I know is I've been through some of what he's going through medically......................assuming that part is true. So I wish him the best along those lines.
Hopefully, the rest of this can be sorted out, as it seems to be a supreme scheidtshow of the highest order.
I think Tzone, Rooster7, Northern Dave & a bunch of other nth Minnesotans interacted with him.
Seem to recall him meeting Flave at a gathering in MN too !
I know rooster from my childhood and maintain a friendship with him to this day. Tzone has ben to my hunting camp by invite several times, to my home and along ice fishing with us. I know flave by phone, txt and emails, we've never met in person, and I've never met gopher.

I've never met gopher either. If by "interaction" with him is reading the Birth of a Deer Camp thread, then you (Paul) and everyone on that thread has "interacted" with Gophergunner.

Searching for "Golden Corral" gets me the 4,278 times you mention it in a thread—it's a black hole of epic proportions. I just got lost in a thread about the critters that shït on the junk in your garage.

My bad
It was the daughter’s boyfriend’s house. He sent the wife over to drop Tyrell’s size 16 Air Jordans and sweatpants off, after their bad break-up
Geno, Just asked similar on the new thread. I think Tzone, Rooster7, Northern Dave & a bunch of other nth Minnesotans interacted with him. Seem to recall him meeting Flave at a gathering in MN too !
I have met gopher in MN.
But it was only an hour or so meet and greet with a handful of other Minnesotan’s.
I saw nothing wrong with any of them. By Minnesotan standards.
I remember that event and I missed it. I had my sister coming into town that day and it was total chaos. I really wish now I would've gone. MN ain't all retards.

Always putting family before Flave.
I know better now. Family sucks.
That bar we met at was great too.
The VFW in Blaine. Walking distance from my in-laws. (I drove anyway)
Wow! Read path of this before work, checked in to see if there was news about how his thing went today.
Then I got to KG's big post.
So now in know GG's "thing" got knocked in the dirt.
Guessing we won't be getting a report back about the medical thing?
One last test of his mettle maybe. If he has the stones of Safariman, we will get pics of his wife. And a SOB story about his health, and what we can do to help him out.

He and his brother have a deer camp not far from me. I met him and his son a couple of times when they came to camp. The first time (10-12 years ago) was at a restaurant and then at my house. Just a typical afternoon BS session on the day before deer season. Second time was at their camp for about an hour after supper. After that, mostly just the occasional PM or email but again, the typical 'How's the family?, Are you going to make it to Pa. for deer season? type stuff.

My earlier post to him about his health concerns was "personal" based on one face-to-face experience a number of years ago. As I sometimes do when in the area where one of our steady Campfire guys lives, I contacted him by PM when I knew I would be within 50 miles or so. After a day of doctoring at the Mayo Clinic, I drove north and met him for dinner. It was nice conversation about families, things on the Campfire, his work (optical services, I think), etc. Seemed to be a nice gentleman, family oriented and with some health issues at that time. The stuff now running in this thread is surprising - even jolting. Nonetheless, if he has as many health problems as noted, my earlier comments to him stand.
Gopher, I'm sorry to not catch your prayer request when you posted. I hope all is going better now and will keep you in prayer. It sounds like you are going through more than most any of us, so it reminds me of Job. When I pray through the Psalms, that usually helps. Take care,

Skilled hustlers know to work the same crowd only once. Cheats, frauds and con-men who break that cardinal rule run great risk of getting sloppy and eventually slipping up. As we all know, one often needs to tell five lies for every initial one, and so on. Ultimately it gets to be all but impossible in an elaborate lie to keep a story 100% consistent. This is especially true with amateurs like GG who are so supremely convinced of their flawless scam technique and will never get caught that they greedily return to the well for more and start making the tale more complex/elaborate. Problem with that is, bread crumb trails and other signs that others can follow are eventually left. Good catch on the multiple spellings of phantom Bill's wife BTW, PAHick. I missed that little clue.
GG's own words here and in particular in offline correspondences were ultimately his undoing as they related to me. I just had to take a close look at the sign and ask the right questions. The little stuff can be that which hangs people, and that was the case here. Note that after I knew what had happened I started posting very specific, yet 'innocent' questions looking for details and updates. He took the bait back then, and at some point soon after I knew I had him.
Consider things he wrote such as, "I just took a sucker punch", from the very first line of the original scam post. Would anyone with a friend who'd just had a home lost in a fire write those words? No. They'd write, "My *friend* took a real sucker punch". It wasn't until I really began looking at the details and his words that the ugly truth became so clear. I then got pretty enraged at what he'd done, but also as much furious at myself for not seeing it right off the bat. Some inconsistent details were found in nuances, but more became glaring as time went on and our hero just couldn't shut his trap, as he wanted more.
In the initial post he wrote that his buddy had his home burn down on the *weekend*. Ten months later, the fire had occurred on "*Thanksgiving Day*". If you had a friend who'd been burned out, reflecting back, you'd naturally say something like, "yes, so terrible having my friend lose everything, but even more tragic that it happened on TGD...", right? That didn't happen in the first go round of his fairy tale. It was 'last weekend'. I'm pretty sure that TGD doesn't land on a Saturday or Sunday...
I just lost a several page long post detailing how I ended up outing him, but lost the damned thing and don't have it in me to re-write it. I did want to share a couple of points before walking away from this dumpster fire. First, this was a scam, pure and simple and the man is a fraud. I proved that behind the scenes, and he knew I had him. Which is why ten months later my Winchester arrived back here to me. Not before he'd MODIFIED it though, and cut one of the barrels I sent and added sights to it, BTW. Wait, what the? Is that something ANYONE would do with a gun gifted for a friend? Start chopping inches off the barrel and 'customizing' it for the OTHER GUY?
Today, in hindsight, I should've outed him to the group those years ago when I figured it out, rather than keeping it to myself and sharing the details with only friends. At the time he'd stopped appealing for more things or adding more lies, and I'd made it clear that should he ever try to rip anyone off again here I'd make certain to revisit this scam of his and expose him, with proof. The truth is, I guess part of me stopped short of exposing him publicly back then because I wanted to forget that I'd been had by such a clumsy crook. My pride took a hit. Hell, I'm a sharp big city boy, who's seen untold scams and cons from a young age and can spot them a mile off. Used to laugh at tourists losing at 3 card monty and nutshell games in the park at ten years old. Never would *I* be one of the suckers out there! Well, egg on my face because I originally got beat by him too.
One never knows with a sociopath, but my guess and sincere hope is that after this he never shows his face here again. Those continuing to support him are maybe to be admired for sticking by a 'friend', but you're all being played, even now. But your choice, of course. I've said my piece.
Thank you to those, friends and cyber-friends alike, who took up for me and vouched for my integrity, BTW. I'm neither a liar nor a cheat and things like honesty, honor and my good name are very important to me. By the same token, I'd NEVER try to disgrace or sully a man's name if I didn't know with absolute certainty of bad conduct and guilt. GG is a bad player and should be avoided, and indeed shunned, at all costs.
GG wrote something like, "see you on the other side" in his OP above, from a few days ago. I doubt he'll even be in the same room with any of the good folks here, at least not initially, on any other side. If he and I do ever find ourselves in the same room though, in this world, he'll easily recognize me. I'll be the guy strolling up with a big smile and maybe sporting a set of knucks on my right hand.
Good catch on the multiple spellings of phantom Bill's wife BTW, PAHick. I missed that little clue.
Never paid much attention, and quite honestly never saw that thread. After y'all posted it I was surprised how many times he bumped it ttt. 8 times or so is a lot of bumping. A humble man would be more maybe once say "hey y'all, Im glad ya helped but if ya can lend a little more...." at least 8 times is more "I got these f'ers on the hook lets see what all I can get" ya know? Then I saw the diff names. His spelling seemed on point, how could you mess up your best buds wifes name?
You see it a lot with diff folks, changing vernacular to suit a certain thread or topic. But GG never strays. So it just seems odd that he would bump so many times and mess up a name.
Wish the man well if he truly has issues, but glad you brought up the scam KG.
I never could get goober- gunner to post a pic of a deer he’s killed in the last 15 years.
I’m a pics or it didn’t happen type believer. Always sniffed dude out as a dick weasel. He didn’t like me making fun of walmart job and pathetic no-killin deer hunting lame ass.
too early in my campfire career to take not of his scam
I did get hustled on here about “rifles for REMFS” poor stateside joe needs a custom kimber and a sfwa Pffft. I only give to real heroes.
Yeah KG, I thought I could read sign pretty well too. I ordered a few things from Cabelas for his burned out Bro and donated some stuff I had as well. It was Christmas time as I look back and I guess we all get in a benevolent mood that time of year. Now I feel a little stupid as I'm usually smarter than that. It didn't occur to me that he was roughly the same size as the items he asked for...repeatedly, in lengthy pm's.
This forum is a unique place. On the whole, there are some pretty solid dudes here. Most of whom, including myself, would've gladly helped out gg if he was in a tough place and simply stated as much, but don't piss in my ear and tell me it's raining.
Lesson learned. Sadly, any further requests for help are going to have far more scrutiny.
Taking advantage of people's good nature ruins it for the next individual that really needs help. That's a heck of a thing to have happened to you Kamo.
"Beware the "sob-story". It's unfortunate that I've become such a cynic, but, my noggin tells me that well adjusted and honest folks have a support system of friends/family to help them through tough times. Folks who "bear their soul" to strangers on websites are probably friendless and estranged from family for good reason."
KG Leighton - you are a constant - very good man - and once I saw your recent rundown of that past situation, I was downhearted about misreading the signs. Thanks for your efforts here. P
Like ingwe I pretty much ignored him, I think I remember why but not 100% and it was from about 10 years ago, I didn't see the scam thread originally because I didn't read his stuff by then, glad I missed it.

Japan, geisha girls. If they ever get all the legal stuff settled, wish it was billions.
Well, we're back from the eval. It was a great experience. They don't allow the parents to observe, so we had to leave. This is SOP on these things so we weren't surprised. They had a meeting prior to the evals with players and parents to go over what would happen, and how the girls were expected to conduct themselves. We came back to the gym with about 20 minutes left in the pitching session of the eval, and I was able to peek through the gym doors. She was dead on-the catcher was barely moving her glove from the target spot. Speed has never been an issue for Ellie-she throws very hard, but control at times has been elusive. That was not the case today. She was dead on and hitting all her spots.
I asked her if she threw her curve, as she's got this big breaking ball we call a "sky hook" that starts out coming right at the right handed batter's head and breaks down and away right at the plate. When she's hitting it, the batters are usually diving out of the box because they think it's going to hit them in the head, and then flailing at it as it crosses the rear outside corner of the plate about knee high. It's a devasting pitch when it works. When it doesn't it's little more than batting practice. She was asked to throw 5 curves in a row. She hit all 5, and everyone stopped what they were doing to watch her breaking ball do it's stuff. Usually if she hits it, there's a collective gasp from the crowd, as it has so much break on it. By the 5th pitch all the coaches were watching her intently. She nailed all 5, and was asked to throw 5 more. She said by the 8th one, the catcher was sucking wind from diving out to block the ball.
She came out of the eval smiling from ear to ear and was very satisfied with her work. Ellie is her own biggest critic, and if she comes out smiling, which doesn't happen very often, I know she did good.
Thanks again for all the kind comments guys. I will make sure to pas them on to my daughter.

What's crazy in 2011 college coaches came out to see his daughter pitch along several others.. Nothing else was said by him, far as how she did. He talked about her sweet ass curve ball that had crowds gasping in amazement. Fast forward to 2012 no mention of how she did for the college scouts and she's working on a curveball. Wait in 2011 she had a sweet ass curveball. But this past winter she was working on it? Uh ok..

Much truth^^^^^^
You certainly have high expectations for this forum.
There was a dude on here that went by ironeagle80dumbfugk. He was always getting free schit. Then one day he gets on and tells everybody “it’s time to pay it forward.” He explained that the campfire helped him out many times, and now it was time for everybody to help his friend.
Lmao
Kamo went full samurai on dat ass.
Hey, yeah, that's the dude I sent a bubba'd Venezuelan tanker carbine 98 with the stock butchered and rebarreled to '06 AI, with a Bueller safety and extended mag well.
Was trying to remember his handle the other day.
He asked for a donor to build a rifle for his wife as I recall. I sent him detailed pics, gave him the rifle free of charge and I even paid shipping.
I did get a PM telling me it was not quite what he was expecting. But maybe he could use parts for something.
Not really any skin off my nose. I was just looking for a way to dispose of the thing anyway. But I definitely got the impression he was not a person I wanted to know better.
Of course, my vote for the best scammer the 'Fire ever saw still goes to Houndgirl. That b_____ had many of the guys here drooling all over their selves. And call out threads between the guys because some could read a bit of sign.
Hell, Houndgirl even got the better of Safariman. That is unless she rewarded him with a little something he never admitted to.

I might have a never used cough silencer I could add to the list. Or was that a well used shart muffler? I get so confused.

My friend slipped on ice in the driveway and lost everything.
Trying to help him get back on his feet.
Please send me anything you can and I will get it to him asap.
I really know he could use a sata 100 B P spray gun, a rotary brank symmetric configured 1 post lift with screw adjust lift pads, 7.5 hp low rpm 2 stage air compressor with inter cooler after cooler and 80 gallon tank, auto drain would be nice, about (4) 4 post automotive storage lifts, an lp fired boiler system (modulating lp) with manifolds and pumps for his underfloor heat system, a hot water pressure washer, a 60 ton ironworker (single phase).
High end hand tools, cash money... anything helps.
I have a question. People who have met Gopher, is he a mountain of a Man ? if not...WTF?

I know you're busy being Japanese and what not, and I don't want to make light of a serious issue, but could you please post some pics of the modified shotgun?

Lesson learned. Sadly, any further requests for help are going to have far more scrutiny.
Dammit, does this mean the deal is off on the Glock?
We'll see if you pass the sniff test.
BTW, I have a hangnail. It's damned serious. Doc says I should only carry light firearms. A NULA from Melvin would be nice. Model 20, short action caliber, mostly for whitetails. Left-handed, if I'm not being too forward about it. Thanks in advance.

Because I'm dying to see The Goph's handiwork.
Arigoto, Flave
A little bird told me today that the barrel destruction was likely his son's handiwork, not his, but sure, I can drag it out for a pic I guess. Wait, would that be like a request sent to like, an indentured servant or something? No likee!
Not sure if I saved it or not but in the shipping box he included the 7" piece off the barrel and vent rib that looks like it was hacksawed off by a drunk. I remember staring at that piece of steel thinking, 'what in the love of sweet bloody Kreisst has happened here?'
OK, just found the piece that was hacked off too. Took phone pics and sent to STX go put up. I gotta' run. Get ready for a giggle if he gets them up. You owe me one.

Efw and myself spent a few days in a deer camp Gg graciously invited us to...2017 i believe it was.
Super kind and nice guy. Not a mountain of a man like that description.
I can be a little naive through my desire to see the good in people...but I cannot say I saw anything bad in the man at all. Could not have been a better host.
I sure can't say a thing bad about KG either and it is troubling when I find myself in between two guys I thought highly of and I appear to be pretty foolish no matter which way I go.
I for damn sure hope KG is somehow mislead but it sure looks not so good for Gg.

Hey the truth is what it is. If I am shown to be dead wrong I am happy to admit that...but as I said...my own experience was very different. If i have egg on my face then let it be because I was reticent to point a finger.

Wow. This whole thread is a shock.
Yep it was 2016 and my experience and recollection mirrors Matt’s. His assessment of this is mine as well.
Be that as it may I’d rather look back and fault myself giving too much benefit of the doubt than going the other way.
Even if these revelations are true I hope that his health situation improves.

OK, just found the piece that was hacked off too. Took phone pics and sent to STX go put up. I gotta' run. Get ready for a giggle if he gets them up. You owe me one.
this is raw, high quality, live entertainment right here.
I took an impromptu Campfire Fasting yesterday and came back to 5 pages or so since my last post on this topic.
I can't get this much entertainment on my satellite TV feed.
Oh, Dave, no can helpee with the furnace thing here. We burn juniper and fuel oil in this area mostly. Awful lot of folks still on Monitor heaters. I could find an old one of them and a tank on a frame for you if that'll help?
is it in bad form to mention my house burnt down this afternoon? typing from library. heres the start of my list

Holy schmoly!

Dude!
mongoloid. mom died in childbirth. dad sold me to the carnival. it hasn't been an easy life.
Like N-D said, the entertainment value here is in the High to Extreme range today!
Oh, by the way, how are them carny chicks? I mean there's a whole variety to pick from in the sideshows. I image the Rubber Lady could be fun in certain positions?
Pretty interesting thread to follow, don't know the OP but he claims he's sick, started this thread and hasn't come back. That said, it appears he was back logged on yesterday, perhaps he's monitoring things "from a distance" now? And that might hint that he's really not that sick, don't know and hard to tell. But from a guy that knows nothing this all seems pretty fishy to me . . . "sad" would be a better choice of words actually.

he has a edical condtion known as Calibornes Syndrom. very very rare and almost incurable
Need to fix him some character duds. Dress it up and sheeit
One of those antenna bobbers

Heck, if I can have him for six months I was thinking of using him to plant a horseradish root in. I'd get a nice smooth horseradish for grating purposes, not some old gnarly one what looks like an overgrown 'sang.
I'll volunteer to be first on the Stubby world tour. Shoot me a PM if interested.
If something works out and Kamo goes along with it.
Try and see if ya can get it too me by the end of march.
Turkey ramps up april 3rd on Ftcky and Tn.
I would like to reserve stumpy for 7 maybe 10 days (could be less) of turkey hunting then send him on to whoever else. Really would like to get a kill pick with stumpy in it. He will have a safe spot in my Alice pack.
Maybe a geocaching thing? Hide stubby, give some simple directions..............................
but no coordinates..............................maybe just some bearings and landmarks......................................
see who has some compass and map skills................................................
Anybody got the map to Shrappy's prairie-dog honey hole, we could hide stubby there. He used to post the pic pretty regular I think it was drawn in crayon.

You'd have to refer that question to 'flave.
or post it in the "gunwriters" forum. Folks there actually know the dude.
And is there something wrong with crayon? On the right kind of material it makes for a decent rain proof map

This could be a two-for
Just to have that stub clank against the neck bell of Cooper the famous internet dog.
Take it CiCi’s with us
Take to the most awesome arrowhead fields, post it next to an insitu of a big sandy or lost lake

No need to apologize to me, bud. Those are my action shots of the Stubbster at home with me in different new roles that I took and sent to STX to post here. I'm not above making fun of and laughing at myself.
Rooster has a grand idea. I'm game. What say we try to get Stubbs to each of the 50 states at least once, and then back to me in around a year's time or so? That works out to a new state once a week, roughly. Wouldn't have to limit it to 1 recipient per state but I agree it'd be a fun thing for people who want in on the game to get Stubbs sent to them and to take part in the Stubby Challenge.
Take the sad thing afield, get a shot (ha, ha) of it with or without the current trustee, then post a pic with it on a dedicated thread. Preferably it'd be in a successful outdoors/fishing/hunting setting, and Stubbs' current handler would post a few words of the location and outing details. Whomever had it would then promise to send it on to the next team player of his choice.
This has some serious potential. Stubbs on a mountaintop, Stubbs at sea, Stubbs in a swamp, Stubbs in the high desert, Stubbs on the ice... Stubbs takes on the world one adventure at a time!
I'd be willing to start it off, and keep track of the states it hits and the players who've participated and those who want to be on the list. Ultimately it makes its way back to me. It's quite valuable, after all.
It might make for a fun thread to keep an eye out for on here--weekly/biweekly updates on where Stubbs is and has been and where it's going, and what kinds of fun things it was part of along taken along with members who'd received it and took it out with them to have some fun. I like it!
But wait, do I trust all you jamokes to actually follow through and ultimately get this fine piece of hardware back to me? I've been burned before, y'know...

Dude the possibilities are endless!!
Shouldn't cost but 6 or 7 bucks to mail this around the country per person to send stumpy on his way to his next user adventure.
Just label as a lathe mandrel or some schitt like decorative candle holder neck.

There are going to be a few of us in TX killing [bleep] in the near future...........
If anyone wants stubby to go to Maui just send it to me for a couple weeks. We’ll be there for the first 2 weeks of April. 😁
Be sure to put some sunscreen on the little fella.
My Northern European genetics dictate judicial use of sunscreen, unfortunately I’m too stubborn and just burn. Stubby looks to have plenty of melanin with “his” dark complexion and likely wouldn’t suffer as much as this cracker would. 😁

Dude.... Pics or it never happened here. Firm believer in that mantra. If ya can get it to rooster. I would like rooster to get it to me like I posted. Then I can send stumpy on his way to someone else.
As an aggrieved party, I want in. Maybe take Stubby on a NoDak duck hunt where he can hang out in style with the Carlsons and the Brileys. It would be a 6 state road trip. Maybe show the Stubster a bonafide South Chicago drive-by as we blow through there. Yep, I'm liking this idea.

OK,
if not sunscreen, then Coppertone Tanning Butter. Likely the oil would help to keep rusting down. Not sure about Maui, but the wind was always blowing salt air around on the Big Island, Little fella could rust without even going surfing or snorkeling.
There once was a barrel from Nantucket, It got chopped short enough for paddler to suck it, But the 'fires not so lucky, The whole deal turned fuucky, And paddler's still a liberal douche.

I can volunteer for the high desert thing. Heck, I'm only about 30 miles from a mountain range, so maybe I can get him up to 8K or so too, I need to get up there myself after the thaw. Maybe a grouse hunt in the fall should he make his way here about that time? I can take him on a jackrabbit hunt any day of the year, but there's no guarantee of success as we're in a bad downturn of the population here.

I’m in for showing Stubby a good time. Mid summer would be good. A Lake Michigan salmon fishing trip, where Stubby can lay clenched in a big Chinooks mouth like a seegar.

Planning a camping trip west (ND, Montana, Idaho, california, wherever I end up. Mid August. Would be glad to take it with and pass it off to someone along the way.

Not going to get much past Leighton, that's for sure.

Thanks for the input Big Red. You're dead right that my sense of empathy and willingness to help others who've suffered hardship by no fault of their own. Guilty, I am of that weakness. Did you catch along the way as the truth unfolded who ended up with the shotgun? Just wondering...

That's just Big Jim's sense of humor, Kamo. He didn't mean anything derogatory.

It was ironically funny.
All good in the 'hood here, Mr. Rooster. Nothing but love for Big Jimmy. I don't mind pointing out the obvious, though. In my book anyway, it's not about who took the most shots in the ring. It's in the end all about who gets to laugh and who gets to cry and slink off into the night, shamed. Be well.

Last summer I executed 5 and my wife trapped 4. If there was true justice, Goph's last view of this world would've been from within the confines of a XXXXL Havahart trap as it slowly settled into the soft mud at the bottom of a beaver pond.
We get to see helium balloons come out of a box and eat bbq's and chips!"
Can't wait!
Everytime I see the words "Gender Reveal" I lMAO.
A few years ago I had never heard this term and was talking with an acquaintance and he was telling me he went to his nephews Gender reveal, (now I know this man as an redneck straight shooter) I was a little shocked, so as he's telling me the story I'm thinking what do I say to this poor guy when his nephew just told him he was a freak!
All kinds of different schit was going through my head, imagine my relief when he revealed to me the true nature of his story. A few weeks later I told him what I had been thinking and he thought it was one of the funniest things he's heard in a long time.

Come at me. I dare you.
GodFuuckdamnit I missed this entire deal!!!
GG dicked me on a PIF years ago! LOL
Quit lookin' at porn sites while sitting waiting for the truck to be loaded and peruse the campfire to keep up with scheidt bro.
I don't think that a legit young man, such as MtnBoomer would look at pics of nekkid young women.

It wasn't porn, this time, I just skipped over it thinking it was a bunch of "best wishes" brotherly love horseshit. Quite a fuuckstory nonetheless. 9o 9he 9op.
Okay Bender of Iron, cfran and my fine whisky swilling buddy 99, haven't read all this thread or the traveling stub thread, have just read bits and pieces.
Did gg ask for a shotgun for injured Veteran?
Our fav Duck Slayer from Basstan KG stepped up and gave him one?
gg stole shotgun, kept, sawed barrel off, then posted photo of said larcenist gauge gun?
Then soundly outed by the 'Fire, "Trust, Compliance and Honestly Board?"

Thanks.
Gunner',
GG asked repeatedly, for hunting items, for a "buddy whose house burnt down".
Wouldn't let people mail stuff directly to the intended recipient of good peoples charity.
"Nope, send it all to me & I'll deliver it to my buddy",
Collected a whole stasha stuff, many were burned, including Kamo !
Basstan boy, caught the ruse & exposed the POS liar/thief/kghunt.
Well said!!!! Couldn’t agree more. Why does he keep logging back in and checking this website (without posting)? So sad, he should log off forever and stay away.

I don't know how I ever missed all of this fiasco... kinda like missing the Tornado set down a block up the street, that wiped all the houses out. Been reading thru this, this morning... WoW...
Couple of comments about IronEagle 84.. Marty.... he lives in the same town here.... Funny when you meet someone face to face. When I met Marty, it took all of 3 seconds to realize, that he, me and my wallet were never going to be in the same conversation... I could tell he had issues.. yeah needy and the guy was raised in California Foster homes.... always looked at everything was for free...
I did do things like give him range brass for a 223, that I frequently just pick up off the ground at the local range.... never got so much as a thank you. Took him over to shoot ground squirrels over in Klamath like 3 times....I always set up a guest first, let them have the best spot, get them squared away.....each time I did that with Marty, and then set up....I'd find him shooting at Sage rats in my direction.. then when they went down, he'd go back to shooting where I had set him up.... but then I'd notice whenever I set the sights on one, even before pulling the trigger, I'd see the sage rat explode or have a bullet him near him and send him back in his hole. he never offered to pay for gas, but each time I started heading home at the end of the day, we'd get to Klamath Falls and he'd tell me he was starving.... then we'd get to Burger King, his favorite place, and he forgot his wallet at home.....So I said I'd pay, and he'd order $15 or more of food.... 2 double Whoppers, 2 large fries etc. After the third time I was " "busy" whenever he would call and ask about going over to shoot squirrels... of course he never offered to pay me back either.
I don't know if people remember him putting on line a paracord rifle sling he made, and how he was thinking about making them for people to order, as a side business.. Young guy, with wife and kid and trying to make ends meet... typical campfire fashion a lot of guys started to order them from him immediately. Campfire guys like to help out other campfire guys. In short order, almost 100 guys or so ordered one from him and sent the $50 asking price in advance.... He delivered about 5 of them. I remember guys posting about waiting and getting an excuse from Marty. I asked him once about it, and he had an excuse for me of why people were posting that... he just didn't have the time..... ran into him later at Wally World and in the conversation asked if he had caught up on that... his reply was "No".... so I asked what was he going to do, just return their money or what... His reply was "nope... spent all that money ( didn't say what on), so just fugg'em..." evidently didn't appreciate all the help other campfire guys gave him.
Third and final straw for me, was Ringman worked at the same place Marty did. Rich had a friend who was in his late 80s early 90s, named John LaChuk... who was suppose to have been a gun writer back in the days.... very nice old gentleman, and very frail. met him several times just running into Rich around town. Marty was out mowing lawns and John LaChuk hired Marty to do his 2 acre property. Marty somehow got to see that John has this carbon fiber barreled 223, on a Rem 700 Action and a spendy scope ( I forgot what its brand name was, but it was expensive) on top. Marty offered to buy it off him since Mr LaChuk wasn't going to use it ever again. Instead Mr La Chuk told Marty, he could have it, right now and all he wanted in return was Marty to mow his lawn from then until he passed away, which he expected would be one, or two seasons at the most. Marty agreed to that quickly. He took the rifle... mowed John LaChuks yard like two more times, and quit. Ringman ( Rich) ended up going over and doing it, several times since he was the one who had lined Marty up for the job. Ringman is in his 70s, so it was one of his sons who completed the work for the next 18 months or so, just out of integrity and helping an aged Veteran and Gun Writer out in his final years.
That was it for me. I had had it with Marty, and his attitudes. He never hurt me any way really, just minor irritations. But he took advantages of people's good graces, without an ounce of guilt about it. Taking advantage of a 90 yr old guy.... that is beyond unacceptable. I did run into him around town and he was trying to be buddy buddy, evidently wanting some once again, and all he got was a cold shoulder from me. He finally asked if things was good between he and I... I told him in no uncertain terms, Hell NO. When asked what was the problem, I told him John LaChuk was the last straw. He denied it, and then said, I wasn't even involved so why was I pissed off.... I had to explain to him, that people get pissed off when they see people use other people thru lies and deceit. He just didn't get it. If you have to explain the obvious to someone, they'll never get it.
Ya know, you get to know some of these users personally, its a mindset with them. They don't see it for themselves, or think others don't see it, when its right in front of their eyes. I haven't ran into Marty around town, since Obama was in office. Who knows if he is still here. Who cares.
When his only comment was "Screw'em" about the 100 or so guys who sent him $50 for those paracord rifle slings, and he never delivered.. that was it. I am sure I am no different than a lot of good guys on here, who feel if you get short sheeted by someone in your mind you process that as "Fool me once same on you, fool me twice shame on me", and let it go... but when you see the same person, short sheet a bunch of other people, just because he can... that sticks with you for a long time...
Even living in the same town as the guy, I feel like I should apologize to the campfire for that.
Things weren't a hard ship for Marty... it was a chosen way of life, he learned to milk and was quite good at it...
Sadly I got to know Safariman.... and got to know Jeff via on line....
Safariman was good at drawing people in, and then setting up to use them big time.. I was lucky to see that quickly and put an end to that. His wife was the one that made me sad about being a user. She was a decent gal, and I don't think she used people but she supported her husband in doing so, or would stand up for him.
Reading this makes me wonder If Jeff was setting me up to be one of his marks,....
Kamo Gary I've met.... you don't get much more First Class than him.. and a straight shooter, yet such a humble guy in my opinion. Ripping KG off, that is just about as low as one can get.
I thought I was pretty street wise.. but reading all of this stuff on line tonight/this morning.... I gather I'm not very internet wise...
I've been on the campfire 17 years. this makes me wonder, if the money or things I have sent other campfire members over the years, who "were in need", really weren't and I just got short sheeted, and then laughing at what a dumBass Seafire must be....
Is there a cliff notes version of this? My feet are falling asleep and the old lady needs to pee.....so I'm good for one or two more pages before things get sporty here.
Aw hell, I'll pretend to be the Goph for one post, just for you Rene:
"It's that time again fellas! The time we all wait all year for. There is nothing like deer season! The memories, the comradery, the smell of new fallen leaves.
Takes me back to my days on the mountain in PA where my Dad hunted for 71 years on one 20 count box of shells. Got a deer every single year too and there is still 1/2 a box left.
Every year at deer season, I feel like my Dad sends me a sign, like when the chickadee landed on my gun barrel. I was like "Hi Dad!" He was like "cheep cheep."
I got all your my gear, laid out in the basement in June so just going through it now.
I can't decide where I'm going this year on opener. Do I take my new to me blind that one of our fellow members so generously donated to me because my health conditions require I be warm or do I take my trusty Walmart folding chair and walk across the ditch and setup 7 feet into the woods for an hour and then head back home again for the remainder of the season? Preparing is half the fun, right?!
Did I mention my health conditions keep me from getting too far from the truck and I can't find any of my ammo? I think my mudshark daughters boyfriend might have pawned it but I can't prove it so if anybody has extra ammo, I'll be happy to purchase it but I don't have much to offer because of my health conditions. I'll make a list of needed ammo and post it here later.
There is a spot I'd like to sneak on again with my muzzleloader not far from my house but after the bowhunter in the tree scared the crap out of me by saying "please don't shoot my decoy" when I was just about to pull the trigger, I figure I better stay out of there.
Anyway fellas, good luck to one and all this season and most importantly stay safe! We have lost too many good guys around here lately and with my health conditions it just reminds me that I have to be extra careful and I'm out of ammo..."

Things weren't a hard ship for Marty... it was a chosen way of life, he learned to milk and was quite good at it...
Yeah that was a trainwreck.
I got on Marty about that and in no uncertain terms lit a fire under his ass to get those done and sent out. I was under the impression he had finished them. Are there people here that didn't get theirs? In hindsight I wouldn't be surprised if there were. He was a taker.
I did some of the same schit for Marty that you did Seafire and it was always one way with him. Helped him get a bear one year and even packed it out for him when he said his back hurt. Loaned him $200 at the end, figured that was the best way to be done with him for good. Sure enough, never heard from him again.
A guy tries to be nice but some people don't deserve it. There's still a bunch of guys on here that don't deserve any respect. It took me a while to develop discernment I'll admit, but when it comes to people I'm a cynical SOB now, thanks mostly to the campfire.

Gophergunner
geebus!....i wasnt sure if that was gonna be signed Gophergunner or Sfariman

Marty-no rush whatsoever on mine. Put it at the back of the line. All is good-heck I was the one late getting going on this. I won't even need it till next fall, so take your time and catch up with your other customers first. Have a great New Year, sir.
I just stumbled across this thread for the first time. One thing gophergunner has accomplished for sure. He has cost someone in need who won't get what some generous individual from this fiasco may otherwise have given had they not been exposed to this charade. Holy crap.
Someone take a dump in a grocery sack and mail it to him. Then he won't be lonely as there will be another one exactly like him there with him. Holy crap!
In case you don't get the reference gophergunner, I just called you a sack of shiitt.
But it was one bullet from each box I believe. and general Patton and the trapline....
Oh. So there are 71 boxes of 19 somewhere in the PA hills?
rumor has it... if they had just sold them individually, goph could have stayed in school past the 6th grade instead of tending trapline full time.
Oh yeah, the trapline to help support the fam. Had to have been the most inefficient trapline in the history of traplines, what with his brother having to set all his 110 conibears for him at home so he could carry them out to the line ready to go.
Catch a muskrat, run back home, have big bro re-set. Run back out and place trap.

I've been taken before. I give a few bucks to those in need. I always figure I err on the side of generosity by helping a fellow human being out in their time of need. If they're lying about it, it's on them. Karma is a b****.

Sorry man, that story came from the high (low?) points of what I have gleaned from the Goph's posts over the years. I have never met the guy but like Kamo said way back in this thread, you can start to see a pattern with people that are full of chidt. (paraphrasing)
I'm sure there are plenty of stories others could tell about the dick face though!
So I hit this property in Lakeville I recently got permission to hunt again this morning. Lots of cut trails running everywhere-still doing recon to sort things out. Posted for about an hour and a half this morning, and then walked a couple more trails. Come around a curve in this trail, look to my left and there's a buck standing eyeballilng me. 'Unsling the 870 off my shoulder and bring it into position just as I hear "please don't shoot the decoy!" Never even saw the guy. I was just about shaking from an "Oh Schidt" moment. Took about 5 steps towards the decoy and finally saw the guy up in a portable stand. He had camo burlap up around him and dropped it down so I could see his orange. Rut's done around here-why's he hunting over a decoy?
'First time I ever encountered a decoy in the woods, and I was probably within less than a second of shooting it. 'Gotta be much more careful from now on. Lesson learned.

Lmao
There it is! I mis-remembered the 870 part. I thought he was muzzleloading.
Since Sir Stubbs is back on the circuit, I thought I'd bump this up for any newbs, or regular members who missed, or for whatever reason aren't familiar with the shocking scumbaggery and thievery perpetrated on the generous and good folks here on the 'Fire by member 'Gophergunner'.
If honor and justice was what it used to be, he'd have been summarily and properly horsewhipped half to death in the town square and had brands burned into his forehead and palms, marked 'T' for THIEF.
May you and all your lineage marinate in abject shame for all time for what you did, Jeff G., and here's hoping that if your family name is ever invoked it is disgust and ridicule. Your surname is entirely appropriate.
I don't mean to belabor the point as far as hoping people here stay vigilant-- and be very cautious-- about taking what other members post at face value. This is NOT a shot at folks, but would like those here to note just how many members here offered blanket support, kind blessings and prayers for this fugkiing parasite. He almost got away with it free and clear, and was obviously in the process of fleecing members here again.
