What do you guys use?

I used to use Photobucket and then they got into all that ransomware.

Then tried an obscure company called PhotoTrail... they offered 30 day free trial of premium service. Setting up a new account every 30 days took about a minute.

PhotoTrail is out.

Bottom-line, who offers the best... easiest... least intrusive free service? From a Android smartphone.

Be advised, if you use the "Hidden" feature, meaning the Imgur "Community" won't be able to see your photos, it can sometimes be testy viewing or copying your images from the phone. The flip side of that is leaving everything public. If you're posting gun pictures, you'll get some sniveling comments from snowflakes. I used to just leave them all public because I enjoyed crossing swords with the snowflakes with humorous responses. Now, I'm pretty much just tired of the idiots and leave most pics Hidden.

Tried Igmur also, but Photoimage worked much faster on my phone.

True. You don't have to worry about file size. But, be advised, if you run a large file through yahoo mail, it will change the format from .jpeg / .jpg to a format that will not load on Imgur.

For lack of a better description, you're pointing to the folder that the pictures are stored in, not the picture itself. You've got to 'click' in one level deeper to end up with a weblink that ends in .jpg or .jpeg

From a computer it is this, "BBcode" and it does it all for you.



From the app on my iphone I can't figure out the automatic bbcode, so I just copy the weblink ending in jpg and put the img code around it from the campfires full editor.

Use Postimage. Tried Imgur, but seemed images there took forever to be served up. Postimage pics just burst on the screen. Being a free service, I suspect, however, that it will eventually go away too.

I am not figuring this out with Imgur.

I have added the .jpg suffix... and the i.igmur prefix.

Even added the picture of the guy with the water bucket to cross check my spelling and code.

I am on a smartphone only. Is that my problem somehow?

This is one of those things where you're 98% of the way there, the final 2% is super easy once you see how to do it, and trying to describe that final 2% is going to be wordy as hell and probably confusing...



If you have an imgur link that doesn't end in .jpg then it isn't the correct link. simply adding .jpg to the end of it doesn't fix it either.

The best way I can describe that is that link (like your https://imgur.com/gallery/59gitKk) is simply pointing to a folder. Yep, the folder is there, but we can't see inside of it.

On my computer, I can click on the image and get the image address https://i.imgur.com/5NFN8kH.jpeg This is what you want to post between the IMG code. Notice that the link ending in jpeg is a completely different address than the one you posted to what I'm calling the 'folder'?

From a computer you hover over the 'three dots' in the upper right of the image, select 'get share links', and then choose the ubbcode link. With that link you can post it right into your response with no adding img code, its already there.


I don't have an android phone to see what is going on in that app. On the iphone version in the imgur app, you click on the picture, then by clicking at the bottom there is an upside down looking U thing with an arrow coming out of it. You click on that, then select 'copy link' and it gives you the correct link ending in the .jpg

The machinations some of you go through.

From an Android, you just post the BBCode as is.

Once ya get a hosting site down it becomes fast for the user anyways.

Exactly, takes about 4 clicks over a period of 3 seconds on my phone to go through these "machinations" and have a picture posted on the fire.

I've been having some problems with Imgur lately. I have it set to stay signed in and it opens to my account. However, when I click on images, it says wrong turn. I have to open settngs and sign in again to get to them.

2.8 mb pic = mini

It might be some setting on my phone, but back when I used Photobucket and picturetrail I never had any of these problems..

Admittedly I am no Tech genius, and this really doesn't seem to be that hard, but still not happening.

On an iPhone, hitting that up arrow in imgur gives you a “copy link” selection. I’m sure in android there’s a way, but I have no clue.

Websites that require a third party to "host" was cutting edge technology 20 years ago....
