Fresh pike out of the ice that was lightly coated with shore lunch, then Fried. Kids all said it was the best fish they’ve ever ate.

Growing up, my parents would get fish sandwiches from McDonalds. They sold a million of them in my neighborhood on Friday’s. 90% Catholic

It was made to appeal to Catholics. McDonald’s made a mint with them.

So, what difference does it make, flesh of fish or flesh of mammal, didn't Moses put them all on the Ark at Mt Sinai for mankind to use? If only there was a Book about all this stuff.

Just Kidding. Enjoy the fish...

Our vacuum cleaner does a great job with lent.

I had no idea you could eat it.
Posted By: slumlord Re: Lent meal - 02/27/21

It never did occur to me it was lent. Then again, my Jesus doesnt still hang on the cross in some church with incense and a dude in wizard robe

My Jesus sits at the right hand of God.

Some things I understand, Lent is not one of them...............

I can't even find it in the Bible.... or 'Easter' for that matter..............

Crawfish etouffe atop fried green tomatoes .

Pax vobiscum.

Wife & I are both catholic... Local church, ten minutes away, has a Knights Of Columbus group that puts on Friday fish fries every week in lent to raise money for the church. This year it's a curb service deal due to covid. We got into a line of cars, ordered two fish fries and gave the guy the money, and got the fish fries without ever leaving the car. Total time was 12 minutes from pulling into line until we drove out the exit driveway. The fish fries come with french fries, cole slaw, and a roll, everything was great and we''l probably do it again before Easter. Growing up Catholic meant fish was common on Fridays even when it wasn't lent. Just some sort of habit, perhaps. Lots of Fridays I just throw some frozen fish sticks or fish fillets in the oven for dinner.

So, it's almost like it's just made up out of Man's imagination and possibly not even real or otherwise based upon facts or evidence? Hmmm, now I am getting skeptical.... I really have been craving seafood after that gooeyduck thread though so I remain teachable...

easter, I used small letter on purpose, was the pagan "god", of fertility.
Hence eggs, rabbits, and such as symbols.

I much prefer to use Resection Sunday

I still cannot stand the thought of eating another fish stick, not ever again in my life.

Too many back in the day when fish on Friday was required and not just during Lent.

Now, if one was to offer me some tuna noodle casserole.....................I might jump on that.

Mom didn't cook real fish very often, not her forte.

Story goes, years ago when the Portuguese got to the new world, the Pope declared capybara to be fish, since they lived in the water. Dolphin and porpoise and such also were considered fish too. The fact they had teats didn't seem to make much difference.

Ah, to live in a world of simple biology where flies and stuff just arose from the muck.

And mammals could be fish.

FYI, bonafide surgeons don't schedule over the weekend.

When I was a kid in New Orleans, I ate a lot of Mrs. Pauls fish sticks and some other brand of canned cod fish fried as patties on Fridays. As my family become slightly more affluent, it meant fried seafood platters of fresh fish, crabs, shrimp, crawfish and oysters with beer. A ribeye steak would have been more penance. I never really understood that.

+1 on the Pike fillets if done right.

Good excuse to drink some Shiner Bock beer. Shiner Bock was originally only brewed during Lent.

Didn’t Amos toss a virgin in the volcano? That was right after the story about the grouper swallowing that Iraqi boy for 3 days.
