A heck of a hockey player, outdoorsman and nice guy who had gone through a lot later in life.

I hope he has found some peace. Watching the highlights from the '80 Olympics is still uplifting.

Sounds like he was having a tough time of it.

RIP.

Sorry to hear of his passing. He and his teammates lifted the entire country during the 80 Olympics.

The demons people fight are real.

Very sad. Rip.

I’ve watched that USA/USSR hockey game a few times. It is really is uplifting.

R.I.P.
Those guys were truly working-class heroes. This Country could use such a feel good experience now.
Instead, we get an America-hating lesbian soccer player as a 21st century role model.

Miracle on Ice. That game of a bunch of rag tag college kids beating the mighty Russian team, of whom every one of them could've played in the NHL is the greatest win in American sports. The country was in a dark place then. Reagan had only taken office a month or so earlier. I remember people going outside in the freezing cold night honking their horns, firing off shotguns, you name it. That's where the U S A! chant originated. The gold medal game after that was just icing on the cake. Who could forget Craig draped in Old Glory? God bless those boys.

RIP to Pav. CTE has taken some of our best.

I am from Atlanta. Don't know much about ice hockey. But I like the Olympics and I watched that game. Fantastic! What an uplifting moment for Americans.

"Do you believe in miracles?" Al Michaels is still living off of that great quote. A lot of people think that beating Russia won the gold but, no, we had to beat Finland for the gold.

I played organized soccer for 17 years. I love soccer. As someone said, it is a sad day in America when today our sports "hero" is an America-hating Lesbo, narcissistic soccer player. The antics of that Rapinhoe bitch make me want to puke.

I know Mark somewhat. My family and I feel so bad for Mark and his family. There was definitely something bad going inside Marks head for the last 10years at least. This is just a very sad deal for so many. Hockey is what caused it. I wonder if it’s worth it. I wish it all could be avoided but still have the game. The 1980 Olympic win was so damn exciting, but at what cost? I’ve never played hockey at the level Mark did, but I did play enough to know that it can be very physical and your head can take a tremendous beating. Mark’s family says he suffered as many as 50 concussions during his career.

Are hockey players getting the concussions like football players? Like I said I don't know much about hockey.

Helmets weren't mandatory until 6 months before the 1980 Olympics. A guy died after his head got cracked open around 1970. The speed and the violent collisions with the ice, the boards, and other players are just as violent, even more so, than football. Pav sounds like he had all the sx of CTE.

Close up pictures of some of the old goalies are something else. Frankenstein looked better than Gump Worsley.

Yes.

I played several Charity games with him. We'd do a UMD alumni guys vs U of M guys game and stay at the Black Bear casino.

Lotta good stories over a lotta beer.

😟
