I agree midwayusa is jumping up prices more than other places I've seen. I simply don't buy if it's more than I want to spend. I'm not sure I would totally write them off? There is supply and demand but I am also seeing Greed take hold of some.

I’m paying more for some dies I want than what they were originally priced at. Midway was out but I used the notify me option. I don’t expect the price to be that cheap again for a while so if I want the dies I get them.

Sometimes when items are out of stock with no back order price increases aren’t updated.

Could be that when those other sellers do have particular items in inventory they’ll also increase prices.

Even if that isn’t the case, I shop all over the web and will always check MWUSA as one possible place from whom to buy. If they’re competitive they’ll get my business and if not they won’t no matter whether they’re gouging on other products or not.

Midway typically has more ammo in stock than other retailers based on what Ive seen. And the CS and shipping is pretty good based on my experiences. I just ordered a bunch of 223, 6.5 and 300 win mag bullets and the box arrived broken with 3 boxes missing. I called and they shipped 3 replacement boxes right away.

When I'm shopping for something, I check a number of places. And shipping can make or break where I buy. Midway gets the order sometimes, sometimes not. But when I buy there, I've never had a problem.

I've noticed some occasional ridiculous prices on a few isolated items at MidwayUSA that seem wholly out of synch with most of their pricing. I tend to write those off as errors or some kind of glitch. I like their website much less than I used to. The organization and interface used to be better IMO. Haven't written them off, just not as pleased with them as I used to be.

Midway's out of 6.5 PRC.

There is a ton of it on GB, mostly $85-$200 per box.

Prices are set based upon two factors:

- What will people pay for this item?

-What is my competition selling this item for?



A retailer looks at these two factors when determining not only his sell price, but if he will offer the item for sale at all. if he can't make a profit based upon these two factors, he probably won't offer the item for sale.

Inflation is starting to get out of control, and will be running wild before years' end. Commodity prices are rising quickly right now, and consumer goods are following suit, a few months' behind commodities.

Don't look at pricing on an out of stock item when comparison shopping, look at in stock items. A retailer can't determine his sell price until he knows how much an item will cost him to get. If he hasn't bought any items lately, he can't set the price he sells them at.

Midway has always been good. As others note if something is more than I want to spend I don't. Yep I've been caught flatfooted now and then on new stuff I didn't expect to build or own. But you gotta do whatever you feel is right.

It may also be that the vendors who are showing out of stock are also showing the last price it sold for. Just something to think about.

I knew Nosler ammo was higher than normal, but even that price seems high. I never priced their 6.5 PRC pre-Covid. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that it went up 15-20 bucks a box.

Like I said I have used them for over 25 years. They are a great company and I never had an issue.

I will re evaluate again after/if stuff gets back to normal.

Something that is $60 a box and available seems more valuable to me than the same thing priced at 99 cents a pallet and out of stock. Larry may be smart enough to know what it’ll cost him to replace what he sells.

They have to charge that much to pay for their crap packaging abilities and the refunds associated with it. Two little green air bubbles to keep a 1000 piece .224 bullet box in place was my latest experience. They obviously take packaging advice from Willicd76. Several of my orders from them have had to be refunded due to poor packaging. To the point I hate calling because they probably think I’m a scammer. I see it’s probably a majority of their customer support calls though so just business as usual for them.

Stopped by a local store on my way out of town today and low and behold they had 6.5 PRC Precision Hunter and a LOT of it. $48 a box but with a 1 box limit. I told them that I'd be by every day for the rest of the week and maybe next, lol. The only reason that I haven't bought the 6.5 PRC rifle yet is that I haven't seen a box of ammo on the shelf in 6 months maybe. Gun counter guy said that they had got in 6 cases of it on Friday. He was amazed at what it was selling for on Gunbroker when I showed him.

Midway had Hornady .243 100 gr. interlock bullets for $26.99 , then they went to $31.99? I dont like it neither, but it is still not that bad of a price. As for the bullet, I can hunt deer or coyotes. If it was the only bullet I could ever have , I could likely use it for elk or bear too if I had to. They , at least have them is stock and passed on them cause I have plenty for 10 more years.

Larry is definitely taking advantage of the current situation. Most of the competition is holding the line on prices which tells me that the wholesale price hasn't increased much, if at all. I just picked up a few pounds of powder from MidSouth Shooters. The price was $5/lb less then Midway USA and the shipping was very reasonable . I also noticed that Midway jacked up the price on Berger bullets when no other retailers have that I've noticed.

I was recently looking for one item. Midway came out cheaper and had free shipping compared to other sites listed on Gun Deals. That isn't often the case, but was in this situation.

I was spending $2k/ year in ~1998 at Midway when he took away free shipping.
