I haven’t bought store ammo in years.

A friend asked me to find him some 9mm ammo - so I went and looked at prices...
What the heck - it used to be 20 bucks for a box of 50, most places it’s close to 45 bucks per 50.

Glad I kept my pistol reloading gear... man.

Great balls of fire! Hold the presses!

Hehe... yeah.

I haven’t bothered looking for 3 or 4 years..
Local box stores are still 18-20 for a box of 50. The strict gun stores have all jacked prices to take advantage though.

Winchester 9mm 100 round fun boxes were $20 not so long ago...

Never had much use for pistol shooting....any distance I could justify using a handgun and I don't figure I need practice or sights for that matter.
Posted By: 22250rem Re: Store Ammo prices - huh - 03/26/21
Last ammo I bought was the last weekend in January. Got a flat of 12 ga. Fiocchi target loads through my gun club for 63 bucks including tax. They bought a truckload so they got a good deal. Other than that the last ammo I bought was back in 2016 when I picked up a Ruger Single Six convertible and needed some 22 Mag. ammo. Stocked up back then and I'm glad I did. Local place I frequent hasn't had barely anything for months now.
Seriously you just found this out??

I got me a thirdy-thirdy. I don’t need one of those gosh darn nine millimeter crap. That ain’t ‘Merican.
When did they take the lead out of gas?! And who actually pays money for water in a plastic bottle?
Posted By: Dillonbuck Re: Store Ammo prices - huh - 03/27/21
Don't buy ammo, load my own.

The only ammo I have seen in a store in months was a Dunhams
a week ago.

Winchester white box 7.62x51 135gr Sierra jhp

5 or 6 boxes $44/box.

I'm guessing most costumers didn't know what cartridge it was,
Or, had no use for a 135gr hollowpoint.
One of the local stores had several cases of blazer brass 9mm for $30/50 which is $10 cheaper than it was a couple weeks ago. Hopefully it’ll level out soon but doubtful.

I stopped in an Academy Sports today for cotton cleaning patches - no ammo, only a few girl's .22 rifles, 5 pistols. Reloading section had one set of .270 dies and an RCBS case trimmer and a powder dispenser.
Posted By: renegade50 Re: Store Ammo prices - huh - 03/27/21
I know alot of you guys dont have retail stores like academy or rural king around or 2 or 3 lgs shops who aint azz raping places.

You all need to remember what these people are doing when things get better.
These mee maw and pee paw are getting dealer discounts from wholesalers ( not retail price)
Dont beleive their bullschitt they tell you it cost them 27 bucks or 32 bucks a box and that is why they are selling it for 40 to 50 abox
Lgs,s around here get 7% wholesale discount from midsouth here in town.

You all need to remember this places when things get better and never buy from again.
They are fugging sticking it to you and smiling in your face telling you bulkschitt.

Lots of these LGS,s are also selling on gunbroker on alias accounts to disassociate their buisinees from having a local stigma and telling their customer base they dont get shipments in.

9mm is trade bait for me .
I dgaf what scapler Lgs,s ( not all) sell it to fools for around here.

You haven't lived until you've gone in a Bass Pro Shop and spend $16.00 for a 2"x2" piece of fudge
Posted By: Dillonbuck Re: Store Ammo prices - huh - 03/27/21
If I ran a shop, I'll be dammed if i would keep prices low enough
to supply the roving scalpers with product.

Somehow I would try to be high enough to discourage them,
without being one myself.

Slummy,
I don't know exactly what you do, don't really care.

But if you are making a circuit to buy what's available at
"legitimate" retail, then profiting off the shortage pricing,
how does that differ from a retailer selling for the current
scalper rate?

Personally, I dispose profiteering.
But, it's business.
If I could tell my boss on Monday my wage just doubled,
And get it, I would.

Ahhhhhhh.....

I'm the one being the capitalist.
(Not slumlord, he is a hoarder.) LOL!!!
Uptrading and wheeling and dealing.
Finding the people who wanta deal.
I know my area and the places I can work to my advantage.
Then they work others to their advantage.

Its all about getting hunting ammo with 9mm target ammo.
The hottest commodity their is ammo wise is 9mm.

Aint that how the game works in our nation????
Do you understand it?????

Little thing called wall street exist.
What I am doing is a common practice their also.
What I am buying is something people want to resell themselves to fools who will pay their price and wont go out for whatever reason to find on their own
So if ya think about it I'm doing some people a service in a way.

It all boils down to me aquiring what I want thru trading or selling at their valuation for goods they have or I can aquire elsewhere.
In this day and age hunting ammo is hard to find at times.
The bang bang stuff is what is in demand.

If your just reading about me doing this????
I make a post on here once or twice a week about this stuff.
Also to show people ammo at a decent price is out their to be had.

Several weeks ago.
I acquired 200 rds of Sellior & Bellot 8x57 196 gr SPCE hunting ammo
Scalper guy was selling at 29.99 a bx

1 for 1 exchange for 14 to 18 dollar 9mm tgt ammo for that 8mm

Online it was 27.99 to 29.99 plus tax and shipping...
Fugg that....

DGAF what he sells 9mm to fools for it.
Also did 2 for 1 9mm with fiocchi 1 1/4 oz 1330 fps dove loads with him.
Looking for ot6 ttsx 168 or nosler 168 e tip
Rem accutip 3" 20 ga slugs
WinAA super sporting clays

All good man

I wouldnt run that rat race renegade runs.

I mostly reload

I’ll hit up a last minute cache if he stumbles upon it but that’s only if I want to get out of the house, drive into town and make a dual purpose ‘biscuit run’ to Hardees. 😃

it's now clear why the working man has no chance,

with half of America not working they spend their days running from store to store,

or online scanning all the online sites,

by 4 pm, it's all gone.

People are people and a lot of them don't care one whit about anyone else. I think it becomes a game to them to see how they can game the situation and hoard all they can. Survival mentality? Hell I doubt it. The first ammo shortage I was at a Walmart and asked about some 22 ammo. The guy told me they were out of all ammo but they get shipments in on thursday but to come early because it went quick. I showed up early thursday and low and behold they had some ammo. i bought my required two boxes (all you were allowed to buy) and paid the man. He said see those two men over there and nodded at two old hippy looking men wearing overalls. I said yeah. They're here every thursday and buy two boxes each. They take them out to the car and come back and buy two more until the shelf is empty. He said he suspected their family members were doing the same thing. The only thing I could think to say was are they planning a war or something? Same [bleep] happened with toilet paper at the beginning of the covid scandal. Old wimmins with baskets full of paper goods.

Lucky pricks.
Hardees, Waffle House, and Golden Corral.
I gotta drive at least 80 miles to get to any of those.
There is a Hardees about 50 miles away in Greencastle.
Crossing 2 mountains on US30 and one one Pa16.
Not really worth the ride.

Used to have one right at our Turnpike entrance.
24 hour decent quick food.
Only place a round with real Sweet Tea back then.
(Thank God for Ronald McDonald. He made sweet tea available to all)

Thursday (I think) was all you can hold chicken day.
And it was CHEAP! Good biscuits and fried chicken (AYCE)!!!

Old rich bastards that owned it rode the nag into the ground.
Left it go to crap, Hardees told them remodel or close.
They pretended they would remodel, and rode it till Hardees
forced them closed.
At the gun show this weekend, all center fire was $1 a round minimum. .22 seemed about .25 a round. What little powder there was was priced around $60 lb for mostly oddball stuff.

Some places have local city sales taxes in their states also...
And all their other little add on taxes and fees too.
People just get conditioned to that in those places I geuss...
