I'll soon be complaining about the heat, so just to make the most of what's left of Sonoran spring, here's a pic of me and one of my volunteer hollyhocks. With a bit of water these things grow like weeds here.
I'm 5'8" for comparison.
Don't see them much anymore, it seems.
When I was a kid every yard had some growing. Now, not so much.
When do they bloom? Soon? Lol.
Want some? I pull up 40 sprouts every spring.
Been a long time since I heard that.
Mother used to plant all that type of ‘flowers’. Coxcombs, snapdragons, 4-o’clocks, more but I forget.
Man I have some pretty aloe.....
Makes me 🤪
Nice plants though.
Aint nothing growing in my part of AZ yet.... But I know its spring because the robins are out and the prairie dogs are chasing each other around.
I had 2 plants of them explode with red and pink last year. They are just peeking out of the ground so far this year.
kwg
How much longer will the hollys be green down there, Jeff?
Nothing popping up here yet in SE AZ, they just started hitting the alfalfa fields with water. I used to try to grow those damned things, never got much over a foot high, nothing like your head high plants, amazing for sure. Now my crop of annual tumble weeds could give your holly hocks a run for their money!
