Also had a pristine S&W Model 10 tapered barrel offered for $650.

Aren’t the Pythons higher? I bought one for 1405.00 a month ago.

MSRP is 1499.00 on both the Anaconda and Python.

Is the action the same on them?

I'll be getting a new Python, have a small scar across the top of my left thigh from when I was letting the hammer back down on one at a stoplight in Alice Tx and the hammer slipped. There was a DPS trooper right next to me, the bullet went through the door and I guess hit the building about fifty yards away. The light turned green and I drove home, park the Van with the door facing away from the house. The van was my company truck when I was installing floors for my dad's business when I was 17. I got up the next morning hauled ass to the auto parts store and bought Bondo and touch up paint and fixed the holes in the door. I was pretty good at doing bodywork and paint by that age, anyway after about two yrs that touch-up paint faded and my Dad asked me about it, and I told him what happen. He won a lot of IPSC matches with that revolver shooting against guys shooting semi-autos.

Not a screamer deal, but getting it for $1500 OTD. $105 discount. (Sales tax is 7% here now).


I want to get it high polished bright stainless right away. But geebus, those prices. $675-695 to go Bright Stainless.

I was able to eyeball that revolver and handle it. Dirt needed a .44 Mag.

The Anaconda made it home safely. Got a full stimmy yesterday after they said I wouldn't get much, if anything.

Thanks, fellas. Had to dig around town today just to get a little ammo to shoot. Have already started putting the feelers out for projectiles. Any suggestions on where to pick up some components is appreciated.

Judging by the serial#.. and guessing.. it's one of the first 100 made. I can tell you the sound and feel of the action are pleasing.

Ed, need bullets and brass. Probably start with some 240 gr SWC cast and coated, and some Starline brass.

I don't have any of the 8" versions and kinda bummed they ditched the original action, but the exterior definitely looks cleaner. Might have to jump while they are making them.

HawkI, was at an LGS that I visit once in a while, simply because it's a pita to get there. But, he has probably the best selection of firearms in the entire area, barring one other shop that is much larger, but is an even bigger pita to get to. Plastic guns can be bought anywhere online. But, these 2 shops often have really nice older stuff.

The shop owner quietly pushed the Anaconda in front of me while I was looking down into one of his glass cases at some other nice revolvers. Had I not received the unforeseen stimmy check, probably wouldn't have jumped. But, when I saw that deposit later around 6 p.m., that was that, as they say..

It is very clean on the outside, and the action has that old Colt feel to it, even though they've changed to the V spring.

PS- Would not have jumped, had it been 8".

SandBilly--where are you getting Pythons for $1400? Cheapest LGS around here is $1699? Pretty scarce too! Thanks.

That costs more than mine. But I got them as babies.

One of the members over on the Colt forum bought a new 2020 Python he swung open the crane and it froze open WTF brand new unfired revolver after asking for advice he was able to remove it and sure enough there was a massive burr that was the culprit.
Guess I'll wait a while until I buy my four inch Python. Hopefully CZ will sort things out with Colt... Sweet revolver Dirt, congrats!

Congrats, I have not seen them for sale yet but have already warned the Mrs that I want two...one for each hand...I mean son eventually. I don't have any 44 mag's...my reloading jumps from 357, to 38/40 to 45's...

Like you, I was .44'less before the Anaconda. I have a set of dies I got from a guy who had several and I took the Redding 3 die .44 set as part of the package. That was a while back and now turning out to have been a good idea. Ordered some 240 gr SWC's yesterday. Down to only needing brass now.
