What are the good ones?
Bosch
Thanks
So I go to the local auto parts store to purchase a pair of quality windshield wipers.

The checkout clerk was a little round woman about 5 foot nothin. I pay for the overpriced wipers and she says, "Want me to install them on for your?"

I almost laughed out loud. And declined her help. She'd need a ladder to get up there.

On my way home I was kicking myself in the ass for not letting her install the wipers. I could've filmed it.

I've got fairly new wipers on my car. One blew off in the car wash. The other one blew off while driving in the rain yesterday.

I don't ask much from a windshield wiper,....just that I don't have to get out in the rain, pick it up out of the ditch, and reattach it.

That's a major nuisance.
I can't recall one ever blowing off, let alone two. Something tells me there's more to it than brand.
Only ones I ever saw blow off where a pair of those twin blades
that were popular in the 90's. First couple pair were great. Then the
knockoffs hit the market, and they were junk.
lmao

I've stopped researching wiper blades. The only two things I buy from dealerships are wiper blades and oil filters. Ford has good wiper blades. Toyota does too.
Use rain x windshield washer fluid, you won't need wipers.

There is always the possibility of installer error, some might need the assistance of the little round woman...
Trico or Anco are the 2 better brands I can recommend.

Over 40 years in the repair business and I never had a wiper which I installed ever fly off anyone's vehicle.
You have to put 'em on properly.

In this high desert, they never wear out. They sun bake and crack. I replace them once a year because the rubber cracks, sometimes with under 2 hrs of actual use.

I've never had one come off that I can remember. I've been using Rain-X brand for a long time with good results.
I have had it happen on two different vehicles. Both times on the drivers side. Once when I was in Little Rock in heavy traffic. miles

Yep
Rainex makes wiper work better.
Ask the nineteen year old groid behind the counter to install them for you.

Then reflect.

LOL
Wipe the wiper blades down with armor monthly and you won't replace the wipers for years. The flying off part.....you just can't fix stupid sometimes.
those clip ons that you slide into the hook on your windshield wiper arm suck. I'm not sure what brand is better, I usually buy the mid priced point one like Rain-X but I have had them come off before. Maybe if I paid $23 for a wiper instead of $11 they would stay on better but wipers do seem to be overpriced to me. You can't find a $7 one anymore.

Some give you that "click" sound to know its locked in, others just slide on. I try to replace mine every fall , sometimes I just go cheap and replace the drivers side, I don't care if my wife can see or not while I"m driving.
I put them on correctly. The plastic clip on these doesn't have enough flex in them to keep them in place on the "U" shaped tip of the wiper arms.
Depends on the make of the vehicle in my experience. After market works on some vehicles, but not well on all of them. Our GMC's get the OEM wipers from the dealer because the adapter kits for that model SUV are not nearly as secure. The OEM stuff lasts for years and doesn't squeak, streak or click. You don't need to drive too many miles with wipers that don't work well to convince you to spend the extra for the good stuff.

Agreed... I've never had any such issue in more than 55 years of owning vehicles..

I've never had it happen either until I bought this pair.

Only time I ever had a wiper come off was when it wasn't installed properly to begin with. Just recently put a pair of new RainX windshield wipers on my old Chevy Tracker. They would slide on the wiper arm fine two different ways and visually appear to be on securely but only one of the ways did they actually 'lock' onto the wiper arm. I generally replace wipers and headlights in pairs but keep at least one of the better used ones that's still working as emergency spares.
Wipers that I install properly stay on the car. Ones that I messed up fly off.

You obviously have never has any like these. They *click* a bit when they're put in place,..but as mentioned, the plastic fastener doesn't have enough tension to hold them into place.

They're installed correctly. It's just that they're junk,...like a lot of things out there these days.
Never had a wiper fly off. I've always just replaced the blade it's self not the wiper arm. Replaced the blades on my 2018 f150 last week. I wasn't going to pay 23 per new arm, blade. Went to AutoZone picked up replacement rubber blades at $9 the pair, took apart the factory arms/blades, put in new blades and bam like new.
I havent seen replacement blades in years.
Did have to buy arms and pull the blades to fix a KIA we couldn't
find blades for.
