I've always been of that opinion. Back when I was in New York, you had to maintain a permit merely to own handguns, and pay to register with the police each new handgun you bought.

Same thing as a Poll Tax.

A huge weakness in our system is our own seeming inability to both prevent those who knowingly enact unconstitutional laws and regulations from doing so and to punish those who do.

This sort of thing is why the liberals so badly want to pack the supreme court. They want decisions like this overturned.

The check and balance we are supposed to have to keep this from happening is "Free and Honest Elections"

The real issue here, is that this decision came down in 1943. Has this been addressed in the past 78 years? If not, why?

If it gets to this court again, they'll find some way to circumvent or overturn that decision to somehow make "maintenance fees" for administration OK.

There is only two reasons for full registration of firearms. Taxation and/or confiscation and in Australia it became both.

Here in Pennsylvania, if you’re busted for killing illegal deer, your hunting “privileges” are revoked.
Likewise, if you’re caught cruising and boozing, your driving “privileges” are revoked.
A license that you buy is nothing less than a tax on a privilege that the government allows you.
A “Right” granted under the Constitution, cannot be taxed.
Holy hell guys, this stuff is basic civics you should’ve learned in hi- school.
Ever heard of a “Poll Tax”? It’s unconstitutional!
Not that stuff like this matters if “We The People” allow it.
