Not all, but a lot of the truly wealthy are bastards - they had to be in order to succeed, since they couldn't have otherwise made it on their merit alone. That means walking over anyone who was in their way. They are not moral or ethical people. Again, not all wealthy people are like this, but a lot of them are.
