"Y'all got any 'ol Foghat up in here?" Heard in a 1975 Ford F100 in 1980.

I was in front of the stage when Foghat was playing in Seattle Aug 28, 1974, when a girl fell down the well in front of the stage and I found her unconcious.
I knew where there were 3 doctors in residency smoking dope in the back of the room. I left the stage and got them.

I was a fan of Foghat, and had been playing Savoy Brown licks on the guitar since I was a kid.
I used my most gravely voice to sing Mr. Downchild.

Des Moines fairgrounds - his car crapped out in hot laps. He bought another racer's car, drove it for the night, gave his winnings AND the car back to the original owner.

memtb already said that it was the NASCAR series - your point is redundant.

Marty Robbins and Jim Croce are two of my favorite singers that died too young. Imagine the song library they'd have if they'd been around longer.

I liked Marty Robbins a lot as a singer and songwriter. He recorded a lot of good work and was also a real stock car racer. He was from Arizona, and I believe his mother was Indian. A pretty impressive guy. I don't know what he was like as a person though.

Robbins did good Gospel sons as well.

I listen to Big Iron once a month or so--not so much for the song, which is good, but for the lead backup and mix which I think is as good as there ever was. None of the other covers of the song come close.

My dad had all of his albums on 8 track, plus Charley Pride, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, etc. I believe I would give a large sack of money to sit and listen to them all with my dad again........

Just a straight A Hole to most everyone in Nashville from what I was told. The Nashville set gave him some degree of latitude because of his singing talent.

When you reach a level of renown, I’m pretty sure you start to get judged on the 1 out of 100 encounter.

Besides, Nashville folk were probably more than deserving.

I always liked Marty Robbin's music. You could understand what he was saying and they told a story. Went to high school with his nephew in Parker, Arizona in the late 1960's.
