I've noticed the past week, several items I want to purchase just aren't on the shelves or I have to go to a couple of places to find them.

My local Wal-Mart has been out of brake cleaner for about a week now, also they don't have any of the cheap r134a freon, no cheap mower batteries, no cheap spray cans of paint , my local Meijer is out of Dale's Steak Sauce, Duke's Mayo, and Pioneer gravy mix

are you guys seeing empty shelves for items you buy regularly?

my little town is falling apart - can't get help and now can't buy stuff I used to take for granted.

local Sonic had a sign that said "work for us and get 2 stimulus checks a month"
Yes, slow to get our everyday parts, lots of material back ordered
My local walmart is having the same problem keeping shelves, freezers and coolers stocked and prices are going up.
A local Bojangles manager told me they're having trouble getting chicken!

He thinks its a transport issue, can't find enough truck drivers?
I do quite a bit of fabrication work and the place I buy much of my steel tells me they are having trouble getting things like trailer axles. The local boat shop tells me the same thing. Why would these be hard to get? I have no idea.
I don’t do Walmart, but the locally owned grocery seemed well stocked, auto parts store was short a couple products. Maybe it’s a Walmart issue?
The load to truck ratio is very high right now, in the 90s last I looked. For most of the last couple of years it was in the 20s. Just getting things where they need to go is a problem.

But there are also a lot of feedstock shortages. Most grades of steel are way short. The late 2020 tropical storms and the freeze in Texas have put a lot of petroleum derived chemicals pretty far behind demand. Semiconductors are short everywhere. Lumber mills can’t keep up.

I keep reading about the truck driver problems. It's got to where they'll hire about anyone who can pass a drug test ... which is the main problem. There aren't enough clean drivers to fill the available jobs.

Those drug tests are flat fugking stupid.

Always have been, always will be.
I went by my boat dealer a couple weeks ago. All their Lowe boats are sold out for the year. Wait until 2022 if you want a new one. An acquaintance sells for a local Ford dealer. Two weeks ago he thought they would be out of F150 and F250s this week.
I tried to buy a dishwasher for my mom back in February, it was a 3 month wait for everything except the $1000 models. I ended up fixing her old one.

This pandemic has turned us into 1980's Cuba

now it seems its an issue for some of the $2 items.
Mud sharks are still in good supply unfortunately

Yeah that plus face piercings and a thing in their ear big enough to stick your thumb through
supply chain for every industry is fubar right now. Folks just don't realize how screwed things really are.
Hell yes. Lotta empty shelves at the grocery stores.
My son had to buy two outboards for work. Delivery date is early August
Spot on Sam, and they don't realize how much worse they are likely to get
People are not working, sitting at home getting money from Uncle Sugar and want their chit right now.Boo fugging hoo.
Everything, everywhere.................go try to buy a new pickup an any specific new car model.

MM
I sure hope we can find bailing twine by the time we’re going to start cutting hay in six weeks.

Have a couple of waterline projects I’d like to get done this year.... PVC pipe quotes are good for THREE days only. And the prices make me wish I was buying lumber.

We’ve got a container’s worth of supplies somewhere on the way between the wholesaler in Taiwan and Oakland. Normally that takes about four weeks. We’re at week 11 or 12, and it’s not on a boat yet..... no containers to be had, and once it’s containerized, shipping dates are way out. Plus shipping prices are up 250%.

It’s just getting better, and better, and better.
I think we've rolled over into a socialist state already. We're just slow on the uptake.
I haven't noticed, but I don't buy much.

As long as I can get fuel, I'm good.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/04/27/business/summer-gasoline-shortage/index.html

“Millions of people stuck at home for more than a year are expected to hit the road for much-needed post-pandemic vacations this summer. Good luck finding gas.

Not that there's a looming shortage of crude oil or gasoline. Rather, it's the tanker truck drivers needed to deliver the gas to stations who are in short supply.

According to the National Tank Truck Carriers, the industry's trade group, somewhere between 20% to 25% of tank trucks in the fleet are parked heading into this summer due to a paucity of qualified drivers. At this point in 2019, only 10% of trucks were sitting idle for that reason.

"We've been dealing with a driver shortage for a while, but the pandemic took that issue and metastasized it," said Ryan Streblow, the executive vice president of the NTTC. "It certainly has grown exponentially."
Indeed, drivers left the business a year ago when gasoline demand ground to a near halt during the early pandemic-related shutdowns.

"We were even hauling boxes for Amazon just to keep our drivers busy," said Holly McCormick, vice president in charge of driver recruitment and retention at Groendyke Transport, an Oklahoma tanker company. "A lot of drivers didn't want to do the safety protocols. We're also working with an aging work force. Many said 'I might as well take it as a cue to retire.'"

I don't believe anything from those communists. Nothing.
I ordered a garage door for a customer on Jan. 19, from a company that sells and installs garage doors. Was told then it was looking like 8-9 weeks lead time. We're at 14 weeks now and no word.
We've been crossing our fingers, and making some adjustments with raw materials, but so far so good. Had some sheet steel come in oversize that is requiring grinding. If that's the worst of it, I'll be thankful.
We really have not been impacted with our needs.

Waited 4 mos for an all glass commercial door.
We’re ordering standard doors when we start now.
Roof truss 6-8 weeks, not tub/shower units at 3 supply houses, waiting 6 weeks on a certain tile for a restaurant, windows 8 weeks.
Drywall mud, certain paints.

Waiting 4-6 weeks to get electric service connected because the local coop has apparently went full retard and all the linemen are scared of their own shadows that they might get covid.

How about truck drivers drawing unemployment instead of getting in behind the wheel. It's my understanding that gasoline is getting hard to get because truck drivers are opting to draw the unemployment.

kwg
I went into a western store and they were low on boots .
Total applecart upset.
We’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg. Wait a few months, This could be devastating.
I have not had a problem getting what i need.

Some of what i would like to get can still be had but there is a small wait time.

As for brake cleaner and carb cleaner i get it from the parts house, they always have it in stock.

I don't know of any "cheap" freon but they have 134-a and 22 as well as the newer type for autos.

In 2019 i bought a 30 lb.can of the new type for house conditioners because they keep going up in price.

We live between 2 small towns and have not had your problems....YET
new windows for the house from Pella = 16 weeks, Yamaha 4 stroke oil, no delivery date, 20 x30 steel building= who knows, appointment with the GI group at the U of I Sept 28 ya things have changed. Wife wants a big outdoor hot tub, that will be next year
You can’t limit or completely shut down most of the biggest economy in the world’s production without major consequences. It was a stupid decision that could, and probably will, rearrange the entire international hierarchy. We don’t back from the damage this administration will cause.
It was done by design.

It makes it easier for them to get their pet projects passed under the guise of helping folks.
The supply chain to AK has always been fragile. The scamdemic has really thrown a monkey wrench into it.
I can get 9mm ammo

But no one has iceberg lettuce. Neeguh cant eebben make a ham sammich
Joe and the Ho are just getting started f ucking things up, I have a feeling the we haven't seen the worst yet.
All these threads are getting me worried. Moving to our retirement house and need a lot of stuff. Garage, new windows, HVAC, tractor, boat, kitchen appliances etc. DANG.. Going to get good out of money the current house, looks like I will have to spend it in our last home. Wasn't thinking it could take several months waiting to spend the money..
Lately people have been saying they are seeing some improvement in ammo and some reloading components. Reading everyone’s’ comments about supply chain problems makes me think we will be having reloading & ammo shortages for a long, long time and apt to get even worse with prices going way up. These supply chain issues will affect everything.
I’ve been able to get everything I need.

We have Windows ordered from Lowes and they have been rescheduled for delivery twice. They insist that they will get them.

Jar lids and rings are few and far, except for the china Pur brand. See jars with lids and rings but not just lids. I see empty boxes on the shelves in Walmart so I know they get a few here and there.

Red Pontiac potatoes were hard to get here, seen them in Virginia and bought them. Seen Ball jar lids at an Ace in Virginia for $3.99/pack limit 4. I don’t need them just looking for them.
Hyper Inflation is the only way the US can pay off the 30 trillion in debt it’s racked up. Labor shortages due to stimulus checks creates an end run to the $15 minimum wage they couldn’t get passed.
Higher minimum wage is needed to offset the effects of the higher cost of living associated with inflation.
There is nothing in this world that happens that’s not by design.
Canning supplies become readily available again I’ll stock up a lifetime worth.

That's what my Garage Door subcontractors are telling me... Appliances are in the same situation. I just received a shipping date on an oven, middle of may. Ordered it first week in Feb.

I did stock up, but it was not intentional. We just love raising a garden and putting stuff away. A few years back, 2012, I told my wife I didn’t trust the .gov and started. Have kept a good supply since.

An underground utility company that I'm currently working for has told me besides material shortages, Their suppliers can not find and hire enough warehouse, yard personnel and truck drivers to get what material they have to the client.

Buddy has a fast food franchise. They actually shut down from noon on Sunday due to lack of staff. And China Joe keeps paying dead beat pieces of scheit to sit on their asses.

Certain farm chemicals are in short supply.

We talked to warehouse guy today and he said their main supplier has 50,000 gallons of 'roundup' on backorder. Specifically speaking the 275 gallon totes, little 5 gallon jugs are available.

One of my friends owns the local Ford dealership, last Friday he told me they were having trouble getting engine oil ordered in for future delivery.
We are having difficulty getting simple things like impellors and filters, much less the less common things.
Been looking for HOAT anti freeze for 3 days. Can't find it on a shelf anywhere
If you have a pool, you had better already be stocked up on chlorine for the summer.

Yo, Hemmingway....can you translate that?

Get the butt plug out of your mouth while addressing me.
Oh, backup generator for the farm....ordered April 3rd, estimated ship date August 23. Electrician is scrambling for breakers and the transfer switch, supposed to be here on time.

I read awhile back it's the Tyson (et al) chicken pluckers being out with "Covid"
Passed by an Arby’s the other day.

Sign said “Hiring - eat free while at work”

Hell to the yeah!
Needed to purchase some pine straw yesterday for some clients. Lowe’s, Home Depot and all of the local suppliers are out. Been that way for a month. One local supplier said they get theirs out of GA. and they can’t find anyone to help harvest the product. Same for the FL. supplier. Crazy!
You push every single kid to go to college, there’s no one left to do an honest days menial work.
A friend of mine is in the car business. He bought his wife a new Yukon Denali. It stickered for $87k. He paid $77k. She put 5,000 miles on it. He sold it yesterday for $95k. Things are insane right now.
