I should be able to get this down to 4.50 to 4.25 pds with improved feel on trigger, then it will be GTG.

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]post pics
Gonna start at 10 am after I pick up the sight set from UPS main hub.
Only mod to any OEM part outside of polishing the parts below the slide.
Will be the firing pin plunger disconnect spring.
The tiny one right above the slide.
Clip 1.5 coil off it with plenty left over for proper function.
Not buying a spring kit for just the reduced power one in it.

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
Basically all that is needed for polishing.
BTDT many times before.
Start with large pad on all parts.
Then go to the small ones on each part with a fresh one.
Then use the cone shaped one last on all parts.
Messy job.
Wear eye pro.....

Pic needs a beer and a Dremel to be legit
Interesting project.

Let us know how you trigger turns out!

I had an after market trigger link installed in my Glock 44-22LR.

It only reduced the pull by about 1/2 lb. but took out a lot of over travel and made it more "shootable"

Thanks for any feedback!

Highly doubtful to be able to get to a genuine 4.5 or less with polishing alone & w/o a connector change; but please, feel free to post a vid with a trigger pull gauge when done.

But then again the G5 triggers are definitely better than previous versions for sure.

The only G5 I have, I've left alone as it was good enough as is.

NOOOOOOO!!!!
Sunavabitch...
21 yrs putting pkgs on hold for in person pick up at the main ups hub 1 mile away.
Cause they start furthest out and work back for deliveries.
And I get my schit last basically at the end of the day.

And my schitt got put on the truck for delivery.

Mutha fug ga..
Wanted to do this all in one shot.
And go shoot this pistol this afternoon on 2 dollar range day and see what brand and weight it likes for ammo shooting the tightest.
Then start squirreling away that brand and weight and adjust the sights to it.
And have 2nd best in mind for buying also.

This went right though.
Bought 2 win bulk packs of 100 and traded it for 300 rds at a LGS.
Shoot a box of this, common ammo around here.
If it likes it, keep it.
If not send the other 250 down the road.

I dont know how to post a vid from my phone.
And if it requires you tube or what the fugg ever support to do it.

It aint happening...
Dont need anymore electronic footprint than what I already have.

I could buy an apex connector at midsourh.
But like i said gonna keep it OEM polished parts and clip 1.5 coil off the plunger spring.

Gotta get jiggy wid it.
Cut side will go in plunger recess.

Big pad is done.
Pic sucks, dont do it any justice.
Big improvement actually looking at it before and after.
Just gonna move to the cone pad and skip the small ones.
Dont want the dremel shaft hitting metal in relation to the size of the small pads.

Let us know if you shoot your pinky toe off.

And yes a Dremmel doesn’t work right without beers.
When you do your testing set it however you would normally do it, oil ... Do a second test with a film of grease on the polished parts. You should see a measured change in force.
Light totally sucks.
But the finish is πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
Take a quick shower , get all this polishing compound off my hands.
Blast off these parts for residue with rem oil.
Hit em with q tips and a dry washcloth.
Light oil down and wipe off
Reassemble the pistol.
Lube the rails.
Check it out on the trigger gauge.
Install the sight set when mr UPS guy decides to bring it today...

Get to the range and see what ammo it shoots the tightest.

Put about 500 600 rds thru it.
Then check polished parts for wear and hit them wear marks for a polishing also and call it good.

At least you are not posting about standing on the sidewalk waiting to buy ammo. Lol
No schidt they oughta have a veterans line to buy ammo with priority .

I use a thin film of atom lube grease and lucas extreme gun oil.
A home brew I made up 3 or 4 yrs ago.
Put it on very light with a very small brush in the Glock spots
Have used it on numerous other semi auto pistols.
It keeps AK,s and my semi auto SG,s running good.
πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
I would lightly stone the sear engagement part of the firing pin with a hard sharpening wetstone.

That was included in a previous pic in this thread.

I dont wanna change any geometry or chance that at all.
That can be bad juju if done badly.
Polishing is plenty for me.
Every day thing done to firearms for 100,s of years.
Polishing trigger components.

I know stoning is done also.
My uncle did it with my mod 70 trigger.

I know what your saying with stoning, but I dont think it is really needed in a self defense Glock.
Man, your work looks similar to GG smithin !

When I did my Gen 5 19 two weeks ago I just stoned enough to remove the tool marks. you lay the stone at the edge of a table. the sear engagement is not a 90^ and the this allows you to polish it without changing the angle. But I completely understand your reluctance to do that. It is risky like any modification of guns is.
Best Christmas ever!!! Arrived while I was in the shower out on the porch.

Rene, those Dawson Sights are nice!

I used my brothers LEO discount to have some Trijicon HDs put on my 19.

Getting rid of the plastic sights is a big plus.

Just gotta see what this pistol shoots tight for ammo.
#1 and # 2
Adjust it to # 1 and squirrel away a bunch of both.

Then shoot some HP,s and find the one that matches the tgt ammo POA POI the best.
And get about 200 of those.

I have been looking for the win 124 nato load.
Have seen it at academy early last week.
Next time it pops I'm getting 2 bxs.
Might even show up tommorow.
Academy is like a box of chocolates. Lol!!!
And the 124 gold dot in bxs of 50 are around.

That win nato load I traded off this morning for the PMC
Was 115 grain flat nose at like 1320 fps.
And it dont show up often from what I have been seeing.
Academy has it a decent price of around 32 33 a box for 100
Midsouth was selling it about 2 weeks ago at a little over 50 a box.
Looking for win white box 115 also.
Have wheeled and dealed in a metric schitt ton of that over the last 2 months.
But last couple weeks none.
Have had alot of the browning 115 also.

They will pop up.
I will buy em.

Well I'm getting a consistent 4.75 area.
Got a 1/2 pd basically off it from friction reduction.
Trigger should settle in once I shoot about 500 rds.
The take up is way more positive in feel than what it was.
Consistent all the way to the wall.
It is a good trigger to begin with anyways.
But not a G24 trigger.

The break seemed more crisp with no creep into it.
Just right their. Which is good.
Over travel feels the same, cant do much about that other than look at aftermarket connectors.
Reset was a improvement louder and more feel on the finger which aids muscle memory finger wise and not going forward all the way again to start another squeeze cycle at the beginning.
IE faster 2nd shot once your mind and finger put it together with practice.

I might stop at the Glock shop in Nashville next time I'm down their and see if they have a spring kit, shaving another 1/2 pd might be possible

Might not.....
Gotta run some rounds thru it 1st and see what it settles out at.

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
Back in the salad days, the best "trigger job" for a Glock was shooting a few cases of ammo through it.

Now, polishing makes a lot more sense.

Your name is RenNickel after that trigger job.
You can't go wrong w/ Dawson sights. A ton of dryfire is my favorite way to polish Glock triggers and shooters. After market parts are cool for fun guns but are usually less reliable than OEM for a carry gun in my experience. I put Vickers extended slide lock/release and mag release on mine and good sights and leave everything else stock. I replace the recoil spring and guide rod and the trigger spring every 5k rounds w/ OEM parts.

Sight set done in about 20 mins.
The clicks on this thing are really postive and firm.
Well made dual spring elevation tension evenly balanced on the plane of the sight.
Had ta sand bottom of dovetail per instructions.
Slid halfway in.
Some firm taps drove it in nicely.
The company supplied aluminum drift punch fits exactly in the dove tail.
Really no way to fugg up the job or mar finish on the sight or gun.
Unless your Joe Biden swinging a hammer.

Front sight easy.
Company glock sight tool.
Nice tight fit into oval slot, no play or cant L or R on it.

Pretty happy with the overall quality of these Dawson sights.
Pics or it didn’t get installed lol

Need to mod my holster in the morning .
Front sight hanging up on that nylon lining.
Bout 1/4" foam padding under it.
Get the exacto knife out and get that nylon lining out and foam along the rib.
Should work ..
If it dont.
Just go on a road trip and find one that works....

Full size gun.
17+ 1
And the 17 is the one that started it all.

Still fits in the back pocket of a pair of jeans.
Geuss what I did reassembling this gun???

I was thinking it was a gen 1 to gen 4 trigger bar with the front drop finger cruciform

This is a captured cruciform for the trigger spring hook on the gen 5,s front cruciform tab.
Looking at vids about 30 mins ago.
Wondering why I only got 1/2 Pd off the polish job and 1.5 coil clip.

Well its GTG now.
And pulling between 4.50 and 4.40 pds.

πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
Not one bit ashamed to show the mistake I made putting it back together.
The foward cruciform bar where the part #,s are .
You can see the captured hook properly on it now
That is that hook that holds one end of the trigger spring under it.
You can see the forward part of the trigger spring going to its attachment area of the trigger block

I had that hook under the forward cruciform arm.
Glad I spent the last 2 hrs looking at vids and trying to figure out why I only got .50 pds outta my polishing job and every one else is getting .75 to 1 pds.
One guy putting his back together said gen 5 captured cruciform.
I knew right then I fugged up putting mine back together.

I know their are better holsters out their.
I have used a kydex paddle holster before with the MCSO.
uncomfortable to me.
The army had moulded holsters for M9,s also.
Just no give to em moving around to me.
Bought a nylon molle chest holster for deployment.
I'm gonna try to mod this one.
And if it dont fly.
I will look for something else.
We got a couple of tactical sew/ fab shops up by post I can check out, if they have or could make one with a nylon plastic insert channel for the front sight along the rib line.
That would be a good option I think.
Have you tried Remora holsters? I have had a couple over the years. Not bad. They work. Not my favorite
