I might be able to do something with that piece on the bottom left.
I thought this was gonna be about a stolen stock.

Odd looking bathing suit
self-righteousness adjudicate if this representationalism or offscourings
Seems to me they took pains to highlight the most useful parts of a woman.

Artist trying to convey that women are worthless?

If that's the case it's not true because I'll bet she could still cook and do laundry.
Posted By: 16bore Re: Art ? what is your take? - 05/20/21
I think more that what makes a woman a woman is being taking away. She doesn’t look like she’s celebrating.

Next will be a dude missing his wiener.

Looks like some artistic work was done with a sawzall.
Posted By: bruinruin Re: Art ? what is your take? - 05/20/21
I see it as being a swipe at men objectifying women as being only good for sex. Her sexual parts are removed, from her person, and a volcano erupting in the background signifying a man getting his rocks off.

It's not art, it's activism.

I see a broken dishwasher.

I find the image disturbing in that it appears to me that the wind is blowing her hair in a different direction than the volcano smoke.

I'm sure it's worth a lot in a museum of modern art, I wouldn't give two cents for it.

This is only commercial art and it's infinitely more pleasing to the eye, IMO:

It means without the tits and ass do you still view her the same, as a woman.
Tit's ain't big enough.
I like it.
For some reason it makes me think of the Krakatoa volcano eruption.
And loss of life from women.

But it also triggered some LSD flashback side vision flutter in my eyes for 15 or so seconds.

Thanks for the free trip man!!!
Never know what will trigger a brief event....

LOL!!!
Art? No, political statement.
Why'd they throw the good stuff on the ground?
will the volcano gods still consider her satisfactory?

Self expression
Posted By: Boomer454 Re: Art ? what is your take? - 05/20/21
I don't know where the sentiment comes from that art should be apolitical. Art has always been political and it will likely always be political. The problem is that nowadays there is a proliferation of particularly lazy art, driven forwards by pretentious idiots who think their thoughts are deeper than they really are.

The opposite of this would be something like a Thomas Kinkade painting that says painfully little while looking sickly sweet, even though it is somewhat well made.

I feel like a lot of the (often justified) hate towards the art community comes from elitist gatekeeping. This has nothing to do with the art itsself, though, but you have to, at least make an attempt to look for what it means. Not what the artist meant when he made it, but what it means to YOU.
Well here goes in my book the farther women get from being a woman the less value to themselves they are. Just the way I see it fugk anybody that don't like it. Mb

I believe we should tax you locally and we should tax you federally ...... then we should have an art program that we can fund with the money ...cause everyone needs wonderful wonderful art.

I don’t see it as art. I see it as wannabe hipsters pretending that “they get it” and are therefore part of the in crowd. O’l Warhol was probably laughing his gay azz off all the way to the bank.

I was an art major. And I like some weird stuff.
Style, composition and subject.....the OPs pic is a yawner.

Is it an illustration for some part of a book?

Label doesnt bend w the can. Dunno why. Warhols stuff sucked, but it was a middle finger to the establishment.

A lot of modern art sucks. But then so does a lot of music.

As long as the buyer likes it, good enough.
Just dont mistake a lack of talent for genius.

This is just me. But all I see is a waste of canvas and paint which could have been used to depict a happy tree.

Someone's time would have been better spent flipping burgers at McDonald's.

At least then he would have actually produced something.

Close. Very close. It means without the tits and ass there would be a bounty on their heads; hence the volcano eruption.
Art-------That's a man's name

She gots purty lips.
It's just some fooking weird shixt. I like pics of dogs playing poker. Now that shixt is real art.
It's no C M Russell. But, the volcano is getting off on it.
I thought it was a puzzle test.
More like graphic design with an obviously simple message.

Agreed bruin, activism via "art".
what boomer said about art.

the OP image looks to be a drawing, or an ink wash, probably an illustration.
Posted By: joken2 Re: Art ? what is your take? - 05/21/21

All I see is a female without the necessary body parts that allow them to feed, give birth, nor even conceive standing alone on a barren plain with a smoldering volcano far off in the background. Clearly symbolism, but of what I have no clue.
Posted By: AZmark Re: Art ? what is your take? - 05/21/21
I think it is a representation of todays sexual interchangeability (aka: transexual crap). Except there needs to be a insert with a males parts that can plugged in. Kinda like Mr Potato Man/Woman.

Did that make any sense?
I like it.

Where can I buy a print?
What I get from it is that from the beginning of humankind, a woman is not complete without the natural reproductive and life-giving parts of her anatomy. They are the essence of a woman.

Kind of a dig at the trannys….that they will never be real women.

Art and grown men novel reading is stupid

If I got for either, I should be painting my T-111

Why can't art be something that's a joy to look at. I guess that's why I managed to piss off just about every english lit. teacher I ever came in contact with.

What about this one ( not my cup o' tea )?
Boring pic, style i dont care for and the colors and composition....no thanks.

But its not horrible and it was done by somebody I knew.
Painted 90 yrs ago.

Did the artist use psychoactive drugs? It looks like it was painted by someone who was tripping or had recently tripped.
Posted By: hookeye Re: Art ? what is your take? - 05/22/21
That was the general style before WW2.

Animal realism really didnt catch on til after Bambi.
Posted By: IZH27 Re: Art ? what is your take? - 05/22/21
Maybe the volcano in the background implies the need for a cultural rebirth of society’s view of the value and role of womanhood?

Maybe implying that we need to consider that there is no difference between men and women?

Or “What a perfectly good waste of a beautiful woman”.
Posted By: hookeye Re: Art ? what is your take? - 05/22/21
The volcano is because the artist couldnt paint trees.
😆

BTW I do like some of the art deco stuff.

Photorealism is great, but then why not just take a photo?
