A passenger on a Southwest Airlines flight attacked a flight attendant Sunday morning after ignoring standard instructions as the plane was landing in San Diego, the airline said. According to a letter from the flight attendants union, the assault left the crew member with an injured face and the loss of two teeth.
The passenger, whose identity was not released, was taken into custody by authorities who met the plane at the airport. A representative for Port of San Diego Harbor Police could not immediately be reached for more information.

In an open letter to CEO Gary Kelly, the president of Transport Workers Union Local 556 - the union for Southwest flight attendants - wrote that the Sunday incident was not isolated. There were 477 cases of passenger misconduct on the airline between April 8 and May 15, Lyn Montgomery wrote.
"This unprecedented number of incidents has reached an intolerable level, with passenger non-compliance events also becoming more aggressive in nature," she wrote.
The reported increase in misconduct is not limited to Southwest. The Federal Aviation Administration said earlier this month that it was reviewing 1,300 reports of bad behavior by passengers since February - after initiating 1,300 such cases in the prior decade.
"Across the board nationwide, it is a problem for every airline and every flight attendant right now," Montgomery said in an interview.
She said she couldn't give one reason for the rise in unruly passengers.
"But my flight attendants will tell me it could be the state of unrest in the nation, the mask compliance, covid and being locked down for so long," she said. "There is definitely more aggressi

I just finished a book by Robert Ruark called Something of Value. It is written in a fictional manner in regard to the characters but based off of actual things that took place. It takes place in Kenya about the time of WWII and after. The whites have settled there and making money with farming and other commerce. It's the time of African safari life too. In a nutshell the communist/marxist stir the blacks up and easily convince them that if enough white people are murdered they will be able to go back to the old ways before the colonization took place. We have history to look back on over there and even though they managed to run the whites out they never did go back to their old ways. So in reading this book I see a parallel when compared to what we're seeing in our own nation. Buddy of mine flew a few weeks ago and was talking about it. On one flight, the flight attendants appeared to be going through the motions on the masks and didn’t care at all. It also is difficult to imagine the content of the value systems of those who are willing to be tools for such bad work, not to mention those behind the levers. No effort to detail reasons here but, in the long run, their agenda will not be a success and we will be a stronger people overall. There should be some severe punishment for that behavior, for that is the best and maybe only education for those types.
